I had a friend who was Lutheran but I grew up Fundamentalist Baptist. Apparently grape juice for communion and baptism.not.having much importance is strange. And by importance I mean that we don't believe baptism seals or has anything to do with salvation.
This podcast is what got me back into the faith in a very depressed and paranoid time last year. I love your research and actually trying to place these things in a historical timeline. God bless you boys
If I’m remembering correctly, Benjamin is also biologically Rachel‘s son. That’s the main reason why during the whole Joseph story ark in Egypt, Jacob was so against Benjamin going with them.
Was going to comment this but see you already have. Little facts like this are important for the story later. Also Rachel died when Benjamin was born thus Jacob was very attached with Joseph and Benjamin. They are all he had left of Rachel.
I grew up in a Church of Christ in ohio. We used grape juice. Our church position on alcohol (and other things) was, it may not be a sin, but you have to consider if your actions might lead others to stumble.

I attend a Baptist church in Southern California and we use grapes and unleaven bread. Our Pastor likes the grapes because it symbolizes Christ’s skin being pierced with the nails and spear
Violence within any orthodoxy has always been an issue, including during the Protestant refermation. Once any group of Believers reaches a certain size, disagreements within the faithful have turned bloody. Saying you follow something & practicing it are different things, when you're scared.
Keep in mind that Abraham pimped out his wife to King Abimelech "because she was too beautiful," so much so that he would kill Abraham for her if he knew she was Abraham's wife. She was in her 90's, he was over 100. So they go into the nation and settle down, claiming to be brother and sister. Abimelech then gets a dream from God, telling him she's married and that he will die if he doesn't relinquish her to her husband, which he quickly does. This is the wild stuff that they don't teach in Sunday school. It's also crazy to think that this was within 10 generations of Noah. It's fascinating. Edit: It gets wilder. The above was the second time he did something similar, in Genesis 20. He also did the same thing about 24 years prior, that time involving the Pharaoh of Egypt.
@@Toviyah1305 Oh my goodness, it actually happened twice. Once in Genesis 12 with the Pharaoh, and again in Genesis 20 with Abimelech. The man pimped his wife out on two separate occasions, once when she was in her late 60s, and again when she was 90.

I can attest to the grape juice thing in the southern baptist tradition here in Missouri in regards to communion.
