As far as eyewitness accounts go... you have the facts as they happened, you have the initial recount (which is subject to accuracy), and then you have the subsequent recount, introducing interpretation. What people tend to do is recount the facts in the moment, then ruminate and process, which is where embellishment comes from.
What has to happen: people need to have common ground, need to find interobserver agreement prior to any recounting of a story, and all the facts need to be accounted for/agreed upon during that observational period, with as much accuracy as humanly possible.
What tends to happen: One guy sees something in the moment, has no opportunity to get IOA, and then tells the next person he encounters. That person adds their interpretation to his recount, and the story is instantly worthless.
Even if it really happened. Now u need evidence.

I bet if I wrote about Gerald the giraffe God today and hid it for 5000 years people of that time would be doing the exact same thing people have done with thr bible.

I agree, but i honestly don't think Joe Rogaine wants to hear the Truth, that is why he entertains so many mystics and heretics and allows them free reign to spread their fantasies. Plus i don't think Joe takes Christians seriously, as most anti Christians he thinks we're so biased, illogical, science deniers and walking in blind faith. However, the Holy Ghost most certainly could draw Joe's heart to invite someone like Wes on, though i can think of some others that would be just as good, or even better as an option. Joe has such a large platform that if the Holy Ghost were to lead him to invite someone like Wes on to share the Truth it would make a major impact on the culture in the US. And its certainly possible that Joe may feel compelled to invite Wes on seeing he just had Billy on his show a few months ago, and the uproar that is spreading about Wes humiliating him, humbly and kindly in Christian love of course. Haha. Though i don't expect much from Joe because just as he thinks about Christians, he's actually the one with the biases that prevent him from even considering the option of Christianity. Just his response to kid rock on his show trying to talk about Jesus Christ has shown his bias. I personally think Dr Kent Hovind would be a better option for Joe to have on his show, or even John Lenox. It's really too bad Dr Chuck Missler is passed, because he was an excellent speaker and extremely knowledgeable in scripture as well as quantum physics, mathematics and other physical sciences and laws of nature

I woke up from surgery after getting an infection from giving birth when I was 18 and couldn’t feel or move my leg from the knee down. I was told I had drop foot syndrome and that I had less than a week 10% chance of walking again. My insurance gave me 60 consecutive days of therapy which made no difference. Finally after months of exhausting all options I pleaded to God to heal me and God told me to visualize walking barefoot on the beach with my son and to tell my toes to move. I did exactly that for months and I slowly but surely regained complete use and feeling. A year later I was at the beach walking barefoot with my son. Amazing to hear Gods power in a similar story. Thank you for the reminder of his Grace 🙏

And when it came to Moses butchering all the men, young boys, male babies & women with child of the Amalekites & Medianates, but kept the virgin girls (mostly pre-teen children) how did they make you excuse that barbaric butchery? How did they make you believe it's ok to enslave little girls after they've seen their new born baby brothers heads bashed in & their throats slit, & their entire families slaughtered? @@idajansenvanvuuren4356Which canon of the Bible though? The original 73 books or the protestant canon with 7 books missing? Also why would you trust the Bible to be the word of God if you don't know the Church that established the canon? It's important to remember Christ first established his Church, which later gave us the Bible. First one must understand why they should trust the Bible to be the word of God. If you don't trust the Church that gave you the Bible why trust the Bible? And how should the Bible be interpreted? Without the Church it's impossible to properly understand the Bible, just look at the amount of denominations, each with their own interpretation. The Bible was never meant to be read alone, it is primarily a liturgical book that was meant to be read in communal worship. Without the liturgical aspect you will end up missing out on the true meaning of scripture.

I've always enjoyed studying and learning about Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc. Christianity in particular tho. It's great to hear from a Christian who is also an educated historian, and has a thorough understanding of the bible from several different perspectives. And who can form a logical argument and make a rational point that doesn't just boil down to: "Well the version of the bible that King James approved says it's true, so it's true."

I wish Wes would go deeper into the Theology of the council of Nicea. The Christians had a problem with "There was a time when the son was not" because it meant the son was a CREATED being and was therefore susceptible to corruption. Coming into being is a CHANGE, and that meant He could change for the worse. Orthodox Christianity asserts that He was begotten, not made. He is very God of very God.

3:15:46 The Jews at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, seemed to treat 1 Enoch with significant respect, possibly even as Scripture. They had a specific way of preserving and distinguishing religious texts from non-religious ones. The fact that 1 Enoch was preserved alongside other biblical texts shows it held a level of authority for them. Their theology, like the judgment of fallen angels and apocalyptic themes, aligns closely with 1 Enoch. While it may not have been formally ‘canonical,’ it was clearly influential and central to their beliefs.

The Western Church viz., Roman Rite Church, selected the Formal Canon 382 a.d., Council of Rome. This was due to Jerome and Augustine arguing about which books should be translated into the common tongue (vulgata). The Jews around 100 a.d., removed the second canon, which Jerome agreed with; while Augustine argued that the LXX, which was used by Christians, should remain the standard.
Thus, the Council of Rome where Pope Damasus I decreed the Canon of 73 books (give or take, as the Eastern Catholics & Orthodox consider Daniel chapter 13 as the book Susanna, and chapter 14 as the book of Bel and the Dragon).
The Eastern Catholics use the General Canon, which includes extra books such as The Prayer of Manasseh, III Maccabees, etc.
The Ethiopian Catholics includes further books, e.g., Book of Enoch.
The Protestants have 66 books as they followed the Jews, as it is said. However, Martin Luther disliked a couple of the Deutero-Canonical (Second Canon) books as they were used to refute his arguments against the Catholic Church. Since it wouldn't look right for him to remove only those books, he decided to make claim that the whole Second Canon was not truly inspired. He then moved them to the appendix. King James I did the same (where the KJV becamethe standard foe the English speaking folk). Since these books were not considered to be as important as the books held in the Canon; to save on printing cost, they merely fell out of print. The same thing happened with the Catholic Bible, e.g., Prayer of Manasseh, III & IV Esdras, Psalms 151, etc., are no longer found in Catholic Bibles.
Apocryphal and Para-Canonical texts are still used by Catholics and Orthodox alike, though one needs to make sure that they are legitimate writings e.g., Apocalypse of Peter (legit) whereas the Gospel of Peter (Docetic writing). This is were a great deal of research comes into play to avoid any psudopigraphic texts.
Theirs a lot more to it, though this is a very general history.

my only qualm is how readily the ancient fathers are dismissed as if a modern theologian must automatically be believed. The Book of Enoch isn't banned in the Catholic Church it wasn't included because some tracts were considered to unreliable, but nevertheless Catholics are allowed to read it. Infact there are seven more books in the Catholic Bible that are included because they were considered more right than wrong.

    • @brandonfigueiredo8506
      @brandonfigueiredo8506 22 дня назад +1

"More right than wrong" should not be the requirement to be included as Canon for those that consider scripture as the infallible word of God. Historical errors (Judith 1:5/Baruch 6:2), forgiveness of sin through human effort (Tobit/2 Maccabees), and condoning sorcery (Tobit 6:5-8) are all enough to not include with text that we consider "God-breathed", I'm not sure but I would assume this is why those 7 books are not in the Tanakh
