Bruce Lee said he did not fear the man who had practiced 10,000 kicks... but beware of the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times. I grew up fishing creeks with one lure tied on. I'd even go swimming for it if it got hung up. I luke tackle as much as the next guy... but like a guy told me when I was saying I needed new golf clubs once... "it ain't the arrow, it's the Indian!" Great video-subbed- will watch more.
Thanks Mr c for that awesome tip on what size rod to use for chatterbait fishing. I have a 7' footer and that's way too short . I'm switching rod companies any way . At least I I know now what size rod to buy. And with a longer rod I'll get a better hook set . GOD bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike.

I fished one stretch of the East Gallatin River from 1974-1997 with 2 rods. A 9' fly rod and a 7' Ugly Stik spinning rod. Don't sweat it. I like the idea of a longer rod using the thunder cricket.
you definitely are my new favorite channel for fishing tips!! im really gaining confidence in a chatterbait and with tournament season right around the corner i appreciate all the tips!!
Rayburn was already slightly muddy at the canyons by Saturday eve I’m sure with this monsoon yesterday it be past long bridge or Black Forest by next week
Haha mud hole but the cricket made it work I like muddy cold water when it’s up fish come up , that’s perfect for chatterbait threw one yesterday , haha ironic we throw same trailer an I also trailer a small swimbait. Great video again.
It's two chatter baits I haven't had any luck with they are the click bait and the thunder cricket, but as soon as I used the the jackhammer & the stealth blade it wasn't 30mins and fish was on. This is just my own experience with using bladed jugs mind you I gave each one a full day of fishing. So they equally had fare shot to show and proof all had the same trailer as well.
I like how you did the one bait all day and figured it out. My problem is I still don’t know WHAT you figured out. I could only hear about half of what you said. My assumption is the big females that were already up pulled out to the first channel or creek edge. The females that were already staging there simply held there during the cold front. But that’s just a guess since I didn’t hear any explanation of what you figured out. Oh, I also use a rage bug on my chatterbaits but have never thought to run them vertically. Great tip, I will give that a try.
If we had bass that size you catch I would be bass fishing. Around here we just don’t have the size and numbers. But the speckled trout and redfish make up for our baby bass lol. Good job killing it in that dirty water!
Todd Castledine Fishing man that’s awesome I haven’t fished there in years since I moved down to Lumberton...someone caught the lake record earlier this year...there’s some bigguns in there!! I got to fish on Lake Naconiche earlier this year and they’ve got some bigguns in there as well!!
Todd Castledine Fishing Man that was an awesome day fishing!! We used to have a crappie hole about 100-150 yards past the high lines...there was a stump that was baited and we would tear them up doing some night fishing!
Hey Todd, great video! I remember watching you on Texas team trail and a big fan. My primary lake near me is Lanier in Georgia and love catching those magnums spots. LOL keep up the great work.
Oh yea, Lanier. That place got me when I was there. Figured them out in practice but they changed on me. That place taught me some things for sure and it paid off later. Best learning experience I had on tour in 2 years for sure.
Ha, tell me about it Todd. I’ve been humbled so many times on Lanier. Sometimes I have to fish a pond to get my confidence back! But if ever s time to catch em on Lanier or anywhere, it’s spring. God bless!
Awesome video, I use the rage bug, also use the rage menace rig the same way, haven't tried the cut R worm yet, I always use the cut r worms for other uses, now I got something to do with bottom half after all chewed up, thx Todd
I’ve rigged my Menace horizontal before but never the rage bug.....thanks for showing that......btw, with the thunder crickets, do you trim the skirts down any? Keeping it in contact with bottom or grass? Just curious
I’m not for sure if you already have a video, but I would really like to see a video of your breakdown of your technique specific rods like what rod can you throw a swim jig on a chatter bait rod etc the power of the action and size thank you sir
I've been using the z- man chatter bait , but want to try the thunder cricket in different colors, a while one a black n blue and a brown n orange or red , I use the Lew's Tournament Pro LFS 7.5.1 and I love it I'm considering going higher speed but I also enjoy the 6.8.1 for the strength of the gearing
I get the strength of the gearing, I just hate it when you get in that shallow water and they scream out of there. I think I need a 10:1 when that happens. LOL
Good information when I could hear it. You need a good microphone so that the golden nuggets you are sharing are audible. This is especially true when you are facing away from the camera.
Black blade on the black/blue. White (?) blade on the other. Any rhyme or reason or just what was on the baits? Your thoughts on silver, gold blades, sunny, cloudy, clear water to muddy water?
I don’t know if it matters and the bigger question does it change from day to day. I think it’s just one of those things. I just throw good baits and see what happens
I caught some out there this morning with black and blue chatterbait. What are they biting on there this time of year? Got some this morning before 7am but I just can’t seem to catch them good anywhere right now! Summer is kicking my ass. Rayburn is kicking my ass too. Went out yesterday, we had planned on fishing all day and decided to leave around 2pm...lucky for us.
I really really like your channel and watching you. Thank you so much. Can you tell me again what the power and the action of that rod is that you’re using I did hear you say 7 foot nine but I don’t remember anything else I watched a couple times and I guess I’m just missing it if you did say it thank you appreciate the help
Try putting the menace on the back of your thunder cricket.. u can rig'em vertically as well.. and the top left kicks slower then the other n it has a cool action. Go to Alex Rudd fishing n watch his video on he THUNDER cricket. He's sponsored by Lew's n strike king as well u probably know who I'm talking about hell idk. I'm sure uve here of putting a menace as a trailer if u haven't check it out or a bass pro shops Pro Shad
Yea I've tried it, I guess I'm always trying to do something different. I always like being the guy who tries things first. I've never heard of anyone putting the rage bug on and I've been using it as trailers for about 5 years now.
Just curious. What was the water temp if you recall ? I guessed maybe upper 50's ? Fantastic video and super informative ! I actually just picked up several Thunder Crickets but was going to use a swimbait or Magic Shad trailer. Will definitely also try the Rage Bug rigged vertically now ! Anyway I watched the whole thing and never heard you mention water temp so just was curious. Thanks and keep up the great work !!
Pretty good video Todd, needed more info on muddy water and how effective a bladed jig was so thanks for the content. Glad you were able to make it happen on one bait, two colors. Sure does show what a person can do if they stick with a bait and put there mind to it. Look forward to the next one.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 that's a great idea, I didnt want to pack a tackle box down the creek for miles as a kid so I took very few and either it worked or didn't
What’s more important……I got a 7’9” AllStar that says to 17lb line. I also got 20lb Sunliner for my Thunder Crickets? Can I throw that 20 on my new AllStar? Or should I now get 17 lb line? Will it matter?
Heck no it won’t matter those are just suggestions, most of which are irrelevant. Plus if you really want to look, Sunline goes by the old standard of pound test line. Over the years certain lines started increasing the size diameter to make it seem stronger. Check the diameter of Sunline compared to others and you’ll find that it’s smaller. Which means 20# Sunline is like most other brands 16 to 17 pound test when it’s related to diameter.
One rod Todd! What makes you run that trailer vertically vs horizontal? I’ve used the rage bug and similar trailers horizontally but have never thought about vertically. Just a more natural way to mimic a bluegill or is it something to do with how it swims? Thanks boss.
You nailed it, its to mimic a blue gill just a more nautural look in my opinion. I always think that if you can make something look better and do it different than everyone else its a win win.

Hey, Todd, you just made a subscriber out of me cuz I know how hard it is to stick to one Vape all day. Would you get a good buddy? A lot of people say with these bladed jigs. It's about when they start. Is that the end of a long cast some of these cheaper ones? They don't start chattering until halfway back.
