I needed this so badly right now. Thank you, Amy, for knowing that so many of us do.
Today I decided to bring my handpan to a plant medicine retreat with a group of about 14 people that I have been gathering with for a year. I know we are all stressing and mourning (to say the least) about the US election and I know the group needs an extra dose of peace as we come together to do our best through this weekend.
I plan to play for them, which will be the first time i have ever played in front of a group of people.
I'm a novice who tends to escalate into higher energy and faster tempo jamming no matter how peaceful I try to start. Since I have only ever played for myself, I haven't been intentional about memorizing patterns and grooves, rather just jamming and improvising around aimlessly. I struggle so badly to just chill with a simple and peaceful melody.
I am going to practice these and do my best to bring the peace that I really want to give to the group. From you and me, through me.
    Thank you.

Thank you so much for sharing this love, for passing it along, and for sharing with me. I needed to hear that too. Sometimes it's easy to think "why make music when the world is falling apart" but I guess this is why 💚
      Thank you

You're so welcome! To close the loop, I DID end up playing for my group! Again, this was my first time playing for other people, and I played like 45 min! There were moments of nervousness and anxiety where my playing got clunky, but more of the time I slid into a comfortable flow and it turned out pretty good :)
I did wander around with a peaceful patterns a couple of times, but the energy of the group and the environment was happy & upbeat, so I slid into my tendency to play percussive & playful. Still, I'm inspired to improve my ability to slow things down.
Thanks again for this video and your sentiment/wishes behind it. I always enjoy your teaching style and energy. Much love to you!

P.S. - After closing the loop with my comment above, I watched your "why make music when the world is falling apart" video. What a perfect compliment to this video and what an amazing message. "To thrive so that others may thrive too", and spreading peace to other people through our playing, that's exactly what this video did for me and I'm sure many others. You are absolutely making a positive impact on the world to a scale you surely can't see. Well done, little sister. Keep being you
