You are for sure one of the best if not the best handpan teacher on RUclips. Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos. Big thanks 🙏 from Austria
First of all: You're making it look SOOOO EASY! :D Secondly: Thanks for making this video. These types of melodies are really what got me into playing the handpan and I am just getting started, so having someone demystify and analyze the style like you did really helped me understand what drew me to these types of improvisations. I now feel like I understand them better and I can more confidently work towards being able to play like this :)
Thanks for humbling me! Coming from playing drums, I thought I had the hand independence down. But I tried a bass in one hand, melody in the other exercise and completely fell apart. I'm loving the new challenge, I'm sure it's going to make my drumming better at the same time.
I'm loving your sharing along this video, thanks, super clear and inspiring 🙏🎶🎶🎶💛. How would you "transpose" this walking bass concept to a F# Pygmy or any other that only has 1 bass?
Amy my sincere admiration for your place in the hand pan world less is definitely more especially with the price of them 😂 i have had an original concept pan austrian made only has seven note scale and dong scond hand at a festival some eight years ago shes never had great sustain in D but she has that original hang massive back line to it but i feel they are getting way crazy maybe i am just simple soul . keep up your wonderful content for us simple souls out there.❤
Again, thank you for the homework. Thank you for the compass ...on my uncharted jaunts into the woods. And thank you for reminding me that when I seem to stall or slow...it's because I'm not putting in the work 🙏
Hi Amy, thank you so much for this and all your other educational and informative videos. I have also looked at and listened to some of the Handpan players who have a really large number of subscribers and their playing in their videos. I downloaded or recorded the videos, isolated the soundtrack and then listened carefully. For example, I can hear a player playing very quietly, but still loud enough for the whole sound to sound fuller, a soft carpet of sound from a keyboard in the background. Or I watch the player and see that a baseline can be heard in the background, but it doesn't match the sound fields struck in the video. In addition, the pans have quite a bit of reverb, which is certainly not due to the fact that the player is sitting in the forest. Okay, that's all fine. I also post-process a recording that I made with my Zoom H6 with the SGH-6 shotgun mic in the great outdoors, for example, using Logic Pro 11. And with my Lumen Handpan (digital handpan) I have even more possibilities in combination with my Plethora X5 guitar multi-effects unit. In short, I believe that it's not just the playing style that ensures success here, but also the technology behind it. However, if you can't play a handpan, at least not at this level, the recording and processing technology won't help you that much.
Yesss, really good observations! The video quality is often so beautiful too. And in lovely locations. That plays a big part (pretty thumbnails = more clicks). And yeah, lots of reverb, and well crafted reverb too. EQ'd so as not to let the slap sounds crash too heavily and just fill out the purer tones. It's so interesting to see new trends emerging with the instrument, and so exciting to wonder what might come next!
I love the way you teach. It is different. You’re teaching concepts. Very good. I don’t have a hand pan. But I have a very cool Mana Stone tongue drum in a D Aeolian scale. And I reengineer your teachings to fit my instrument.
Thank you Amy. This is so incredibly helpful. Just with one sit down it’s helped me get into a flow with my instrument, and for the first time see that it might actually be possible for me.
What an awesome video and tutorial. You are a gifted player and teacher. I don't practice much, just play what I'm feeling till I am content. But I need to get better, and will use your video's to get me there. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for explaining this! You explained so much more than just the patterns... Its the feeling..., the little details...! I love it, and I love to play it and try out things in my playing! Thank you for sharing and your great work! Its so much work to create such a tutorial... Keep it up Amy! ;)
That's such a great guide, thank you. I'm gonna try and go in nature more, be by myself to relax and play fully invested in my d-kurd, I'll practice everything you showed here, thank you!
Amy - Will you please share the scale for your F low Meridian? (I have 2 Meridians already :) Fantastic as always Amy - and just what I was looking for ❤ Thank you and thank your for Wild Naya 2024
It's coming soon, on my next course. You can sign up to my mailing list to get notified of it! amynaylormusic.com - find the sign-up at the bottom of the website
Ty, i heard Seagulls, I do believe if you come back to the same note at the end of each bar, you have a successful rhythm, I think you are saying. One day I will have a quality handpan where you get more tone and less bang😊
Could you please PLEEEASE make a video on how to play the notes of chantress seba ,song name =you are the light. The melody played in that song is in my opinion the best melody ever
Amy I am having trouble following this brilliant video of amazing advice!!, but the counting is throwing me. Is there a breakdown of this on your patreon?
@@AmyNaylorMusic that would be wonderful. I just couldn’t follow along to what you were playing with the counting and that bothered me that I couldn’t get the counting down :( and follow along
wich note make a melodive meditative ? hand pan have high vibration sound like 1000 hz make it reaaly celestial . not all music are meditative in what you find on RUclips .
Two more additional steps to make a viral handpan video - make dramatic facial expressions while you play and then loop your 10 minute video and make it into an hour! 😉

OMG .. You make it look so simple.. for me the most hard is to keep the groove steady.. 😅
Haha I mean the concept is simple... It's just putting it all together that's the hard part 😅

Veryuseful video, many thanks. Which instrument (brand and scale) are you using in this video ?
Meridian Handpan, F Low Pygmy 🥰
I want to play like that and you say me how. Thank you very much for your time
Hi Amy , thanks for your knowledge , what is handpan you use in this video.
It's an F Low Pygmy from Meridian Handpan
Could you make a tutorial on how to play somewhere only we know on the handpan ??
For sure! Gimmie some time 🥰
Thank you 😁
Ohh what I would give to play like this. I’m a beginner but my handpan only has 8 notes which makes me feel like I’m missing out big time

Hi! What if your drum does not sound so good when tapping the bottom half?
Did anyone else notice the bird noises at 2:06 ungodly like blending with the music 😂
mine just seems to have 1 bass lol, the bottom area does nothing :(
wich note make a melodive meditative ? hand pan have high vibration sound like 1000 hz make it reaaly celestial
