You are the BEST handpan teacher online!! As a legally blind person, who can't really see your whiteboard all of the time (my fault, not yours!), I really appreciate how you make out the sounds, the taps, or use words to help me to remember the melody. Thank you, Amy, you are really helping me, and I'm 55, living in FL, USA. I've commented before-- I try to watch one of your videos a day, and learn more and more, though I still can't play this darn thing (yet!)
Amy, you are such an awesome being! You are like my handpan platonic crush! HAHAHA , I love your passion making this videos and talking about it. Thank you!
Thank you Amy. I’ve been breaking beats down in a totally random way throughout my day. This morning was a breakthrough and then the universe put you on my phone. “Lightbulb” 😃🙏🙌
Because I'm very British hahahahaha I was playing handpan with my friend last night, he just asked me this question. how to play different tempo. and I just told him, you can squeezes any tempo in a certain time as you like. Thank you to share this video, now I can tell him how it really work and look like.
Haha, it's true, I am! Tempo is more about how fast or slow the music is, rather than the amount of beats in that time. But yes, with polyrhythm, you can play in different time signatures at different tempos (speeds) in order to make them fit in the same space together
OMG, Amy! Best, creative Instructional video! This is the magic of humans sharing, teaching & learning together. These Polyrhythms sound great now and don't twist my neurons. You're the best!! ❤
I became a Patreon patron of Amy's today because of "I can play this rhy-thm." For weeks, I had been struggling to master polyrhythm, but my brain and fingers wouldn't cooperate. Then, with this video it all fell into place. The experience was almost magically transcendental. Please keep providing word phrases to help musical newbies, like me, Amy. As for everyone else out there, you can pay Amy back for all her videos that you've been watching for as little as $1.50 a month.
I was able to create a piece to commemorate one year practicing Hand Pan. And the piece starts with a path that I learned from one of your videos. Thanks Amy for sharing your amazing skills with the community. I really appreciate!
Thank you so much for this fantastic video! You are an amazing teacher and artist! And so generous with your skills. The world needs more people like you ❤️
I just came across your channel, you are such a sweetheart! So helpful, articulate and straight to it. I am about to binge watch all your videos right now! 😻🙏🙌
@@AmyNaylorMusic You just made me put the lime in the coconut, it changed my strumming and my piano cadence. its not so hard rly. grateful to have come across your forte... we both have much more personal wealth in my opinion as a result. Definetly great as always Amy, I like your teachings very much. You´re a great source of inspiration in developing both hand structures and teaching the weak hand side, many blessings to you
you are a great teacher!! not every artist has teaching skills. wonderful visual expression of beats. never thought of circle. thank you for getting me out of straight lines :))
Just found this. Fascinating. It's the first time I've come across neurodivergent music notation and it works perfectly well in this context. As a 'classicaly trained' musician I can imagine how to transcribe the pitches and rhythms, but as a percussionist I'm trying to imagine how you'd notate the different strokes (slap, ring etc.) in either format? Hmm. Cheers.
With handpan especially, there's a whole world of written notation yet to be discovered and tried. Many people are doing it in many different ways and as someone who struggles with dots and lines (and numbers on a page for that matter) I love exploring them!! Super excited to see what direction notation for handpan goes in
This is definitely more intermediate than beginner hehe. But I have lots of videos that will hopefully be helpful when you start your handpan journey. Wishing you the best!
I can’t find B Amara on Meridian’s website… is this the one you use in this video ? Absolutely great teaching by the way, thank you. I am hooked and you make it seem so easy ;-)

❤Thanks for your tips (y)
My pleasure!
It’s like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time 😂 nice lesson! Thank you! 👍🏼
Haha, exactly
That's really useful! 👍❤️ I just got to get my left hand into rythem, my brain switches it off and favours right
I know that feeling 🤯
This rhythm (3 with right an 2 with left hand) is known als "Kalbsleberwurst" in my region. the word "Kalbsleberwurst" has this very same rhythm 😆
Thanks! Useful video 😊 I wonder if a polyrhythm can be only a part of a bigger piece? How can I integrate it then?
Great question! I will be making a video soon on integrating polyrhythms more in compositions
Woah you are amazing! I don’t own a hand pan yet but am planning to do so. I can imagine my hands getting tangled 😅

@@AmyNaylorMusic Thank you so much!
Real!
Hi Amy, great idea to have a sentence to remember the rythm. That helps me a lot. With that support I can do it immediately. Give me more🙏😊
Amazing! Thanks Christine. This is how I learned rhythms when I first starting studying percussion. Super helpful
for some reason i can never get the beat at the start of the video out of my head. I don't mind it at all haha :P
Wow.
Great video. But I can't get my hands to do two different rhythms.
Focus first on how it sounds as a whole rather than thinking of each hand as it's independent rhythm. Think about "nice cup of tea". You'll get it! 😎
@@AmyNaylorMusic Yes, thank you. Using the sound and mental rhythm of saying “nice cup of tea” does help. Practice practice practice.
