After I have seen it, I picked my B harmonic minor beside the D kurd and explored the la sirena feeling for over one hour :) Your way of teaching is always a good mixture between well explained information and relaxed funny style :) Thanks a lot!

I was thinking about this same subject. Makes complete sense.

Great vid! Helped me realize I would like my first pan to be a d kurd rather than a d Celtic since I can play d Celtic in a d kurd anyway

Yes! Kurd is lemon curd for my ears. YUMMY.

Researching my first pan. You mention D Kurds are versatile, I'm really being drawn to the sweet (major?) sounding pans in videos I watch though - your 'Hint of Green' song being an example. Looking at potentially a B Onoleo pan as I've found one within my price range - wondered if you have any thoughts on this choice for a beginner? I haven't found examples of the D Kurd replicating these sweet, majory sounds I'm being drawn to. Not so much a fan of the more meditative sounds.

What a great video! I happen to have another handpan with a C3, and my D Kurd has an F3. I love the La Serena scale and now I can explore just like that. I will try the other scales you were showing here too. Yay, thank you!

Amy, I'm so fascinated by the Celtic song! I used to play harp including Irish harp, and I'd love to have a better understanding of what you're doing in the second song--mainly the rhythm. I tried slowing it down but that didn't help (you play so smoothly that it's really hard to see your fingers move!!) If you're looking for a topic for a tutorial. . .

I'm hearing the haaa-ta-taa jig lift/pulse as per this RUclips video, "ha ta ta (Jig Rhythm)".

really impressive and helpful this insight into the different moods of scales! As always very good explained (though very fast ;-), e.g. detect and understand "la sirena" and "sabye" is not that easy). I am very keen on the next video on that topic. I am happy that I decided to support you on patreon, because you provide again and again diverse substantial input to me in an easy, entertaining way. Helps a lot digging into the music universe of the handpan. Thanks for that!

Why not borrow the fifth harmonic of the E (specially if you have an E3 down there) and play like Sirena in a D Kurd?

As someone who understands the basics of scales... why do people choose scales like celtic when they could just choose a kurd?
