this and animal crossing really helped blow up that sort of "casual but still fun" market.
TRU
And mariocart
ah, i remember that time when my cousin used to yell "sitz!!" at his DS the entire day when this game came out
At least it wasn't "SPIEL TOT!!"
@@LilaLink8P DFGSDFHSDHHJ TRUE
The Bathtime theme from this game is the greatest composition of all time.
HenryRichard, I agree. No wonder it got into Smash Bros.
So underrated channel. Keep the work.
Thanks!
Your right
Me: YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME THEN
Patricko Eid I see you are fluent in English
It's okay though, he is getting mad subs quickly
I thought they were gonna use motion capture on humans instead of dogs! That would have been hilarious!
Haha, that would've been very funny!
@@ThomasGameDocs But then the game would be called Nintenpeople not NintenDOGS
Edit: they would use Miis for the people!
@@tAiLzMii that's like tomodachi life
@@_amya__ :0 yeah! I noticed!
what the fuck they made all those animations without motion capture?? that's an insane work
Great video! I really love the content you make on youtube!
Thank you so much!
Another great video! As soon I watched your Layton vid I knew this channel is 10/10. Looking forward to all your uploads.
Thank you so much, that's really kind!
On one hand it's nearly criminal this channel only has 2.3k subscribers, but on the other hand, it's amazing that it already has 2.3k in such a short time! This seems like the type of content youtube's algorithm loves to suggest after videos like DYKG, or even Gamexplain, so hopefully the growth continues- and it goes without saying these videos are great, so keep it up!
That's so kind! Thank you! As for the algorithm - it seems kinda weird and unpredictable. Like one video I made got shouted out by a larger channel which gave it quite a boost in views, and that seemed to kind of "lodge" it in the algorithm somehow - RUclips kept recommending it to a ton of people. I don't think anyone really knows how the algorithm works, but I can cross my fingers!
This channel is amazing!!! You put a lot of work into each video, and it shows. I also really like the games you're choosing to cover. Not many people talk about these anymore.
(And I loved how you started with Luigi's Mansion-- one of my favorite games!)
Could you do an episode on Animal Crossing? How it came to be would make for an interesting episode!
Wow, thank you so much, that's incredibly kind! And yes - an episode about Animal Crossing is in the works. In fact, probably 4 episodes, one for each game! Probably, anyway - I have to see if there's enough material to do videos on Wild World, City Folk and New Leaf, but I'd really like to if I can. Anyway, I'm waiting until around the time Animal Crossing for Switch is released, so I'm afraid there'll be a little bit a wait. Hopefully that's ok!
@@ThomasGameDocs Sure! Thanks for the great content!
I subscribed for the Layton video. One of the best internet choices I've made :3
Haha, thank you so much! (Oh, and the Ace Attorney video is still coming, btw! Slow progress, but I am gradually working my way through it!)
I hope you get a lot more subs man thanks for the work you put in these videos
This is really well made! Great job on this! Nintendogs may have been one of the biggest games of my childhood, it's awesome to get a neat retrospect like this.
I love how in-depth you are in your videos. I’ve been playing video games for more than 7 years and still don’t know as much as you do. You’ve earned yourself a new subscriber my friend. ;)
Always love the titles you choose to cover!
Haha, thanks! I guess we have similar taste in games!
Your videos are things I watch for a few minutes everyday and carry on, it’s therapeutic, almost like animal crossing.
Great editing. Learned a lot as well :)
Thanks!
Dude. This game was awesome. I am in tears so many memories
As always, such great quality, keep going!!!!
Haha, thanks! I'll try my best!
Love your Nintendogs theme composition ★
The editing here is flawless :]
Thank you so much!
Keep up the good work, this video was great
Thank you!
Jump scares at 0:40 and 1:10. One wonders why I bought Nintendogs twice when I had an actual pupper I should've been walking... Also, fun fact! Bark Mode and the C-Gear from Pokemon BW were the predecessors to the 3DS's StreetPass function. However, while the 3DS could run wireless communications in sleep mode, the original DS was still running at full power, just with the screens turned off. Animal Crossing: Wild World didn't have a true sleep mode at all.
Yeah, sorry, those animal noises were a little on the loud side!
Also, that's really interesting! I guess by the 3ds Nintendo knew what they were doing a little more...
All your videos are 10/10
Really nice episode! I'm glad you talked about the game even though the video ended up shorter than your standard. Still very good! :)
Thanks! The good thing about these slightly shorter ones is that they don't take 1000 years to edit!
@@ThomasGameDocs Thanks for posting it early!
No problem! Ideally, I'd like to upload weekly, but with college and stuff that's not usually possible. Still, whenever I'm able to, I'll try to upload weekly!
Great video, but some of the sound effects are a bit too loud and distracting. Maybe lower them down in future vids.
Hmm, ok, I'll keep that in mind! The animal ones, in retrospect, I definitely think should've been quite a bit quieter. Thanks for the feedback!
@@ThomasGameDocs Yeah I certainly agree, there's a heavy contrast between them and your relaxing voice. I had it playing through headphones and those animals noises startled me every time.
@@nathangomez4409 Yeah, it's because I edited that part without headphones. Listening back later, it genuinely made me jump too - I'll be more careful with that kind of thing in future!
Womp womp
I played a lot of Nintendogs when it came out. I’ve always loved pets ever since I can remember.
And in 2007 I even got a dog of my (or our I guess) own. A cute little Dachshund. Trained him a lot of the tricks I knew from the game!
Haha, that's really cool! I don't think my family would really have time to look after a dog, but I kinda wish we did. They're very cute! (dogs, I mean, not my family)
I’m loving these!!!!
0:43 my first ever video game console
I’m glad you made a Nintendogs video. Could you make a Nintendogs + cats video?
Man, this brought back memories! My twin and I went camping every summer at a campground in Indiana as kids. This and Sonic Battle were the handheld games we played religiously! Makes me remember my three boxers fondly: Stone, Jenna, and Astro. Stone was the GOAT at everything! I miss him, but, given how the game registered length of time without playing the game as neglect… Yeah, he probably wouldn’t be happy to see me if I decided to boot up the game today…
Love your channel man keep it up MY BBY
Thank you for this amazing video
Thanks for watching it!
Nintendogs is almost 15 years old?! 😭 I got it when it first came out, played it religiously for a while.
This was fantastic! I love your channel keep up the great work! Also, just wondering have you ever played mother 3? I mean granted it would have to be emulated but the game is one of a kind and seems like one you’d enjoy based on these videos
Thanks! And, no, I've never played it before - I'm actually not a huge RPG person. I mean, I've played a good chunk of both Earthbound and Chrono Trigger and I enjoyed the parts that I played, but I get distracted pretty easily, and those games just go on for so loooonggg... I would actually like to come back to Earthbound at some point, and then maybe afterwards play Mother 3, but I'd need to wait until I have a good amount of free time available. Maybe the summer holidays?
Yeah, I agree I’m not one for rpgs usually due to the time consuming nature but the story it weaves is probably the best I’ve ever heard in a game and it’s not too connected to Earthbound that it dictates playing both. Although, if you do have some free time I’d highly recommend it, it’s a magical experience
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll keep it in mind when I have some free time!
The first TGD video to not be titled as ‘How ___ Was Created’.
I'm really surprised on the quality of the video, coming for a fairly small channel. keep it up!
Thank you!
1:34 Now I want to see Myamoto playing with a dog. It would be so wholesome
Ahh, this was my very first videogame 🤩. I had the Dalmatian version. Of course the graphics were limited at the time but I still think that the dog look pretty realistic compared to other games.
My first Nintendogs puppy was a Labrador named Guizzo. Rest in peace Guizzo, may that game cartridge rest well, wherever it went.
Now i currently own a Nintendogs + cats copy with a Beagle puppy named Scarfy. He's still with us at least.
Say hello to Scarfy for me, ^^
@@le_biblioteker9191 i will! ^^
Nintendogs Lab & friends was my first video game ever. I got it for Christmas and opened the game first, then I had a beautiful glittery silver DS that was all mine...until I traded it in for a Wii and I wish I had my DS to this very day
I know not a lot is known about it, but I think there was also something to do with Shigesato Itoi and his ‘Cabbage’ (1997) concept as the first idea for a pet simulator video game with customisable features, which sort of inspired Nintendogs and Animal Crossing
Another nostalgic piece! I remember my sister getting Nintendogs with her DS (she got the system before I did) and I was pretty jealous myself...it wasn't until later when a friend of mine gave me away his "Nintendogs Demo cart" that he wasn't using. I wasn't aware there was a demo cart for the game, so I just kinda took it. It didn't take me long to figure out that what he had given me was actually the Best Friends edition of the game, and he believed the game was just a demo because he hadn't figured out how to go past the tutorial, haha. Anyways, that's how I managed to get my own digital puppies!
Haha, you pulled a fast one on _him_ !
I mean, I did tell him about it afterwards, but he just kinda accepted it, heh.
Wow, I want your friends!
I really wish they brought out a new Nintendogs game for the Switch, it was my whole childhood and I still love it to this day. Sadly I cannot play the original anymore since my DS + my 3DS cartridge ports are both broken and cannot read many to no games at all anymore 😓
oh man..just realized Pokémon Amie is REALLY similar to this, i mean the petting and giving food.
i've been a fan of nintendogs since the first games, and then i got the 3ds ones, and there's one on the switch too that i don't have yet, but i'm gonna buy asap (its an indie game and has a different name but it's extremely similar, like, nearly identical to nintendogs)
Nintendogs was the best!
Great video like always!
Thanks!
I still have this game
oh my god i love this
Haha, Thanks! And Stardew Valley is a great idea! I've got a lot of projects on the go right now but I'll definitely add it to my list - thanks for the suggestion!
When I think of the DS, I typically think of Pokemon and Ace Attorney. They were my favorite games on the console.
0:21 Is that the Minecraft wolf noise?
Lol haha false
Not gonna lie, I spent hours in my teen years on nintendogs on the ds and more so on the 3ds of their version with cats. Wasnt overly disappointed there wasn't a nintendogs version on the switch but that was to be expected since the switch didn't have a mic but now I'm moving onto VR since the quest2 came out and hoping one day there will be a VR equivalent to nintendogs.
This was my childhood.
Ever seen a film that requires a much needed sequel? This is the one. The real life lore is nothing compared to the insurmountable rumours about the real canonical lore to the Nintendogs series.
My second ds game ❤❤❤
And my favoriteeeeeeee!
I remember on xmas, i received a nintendogs game ❤
No +Cats history? Eh, fair enough I guess
Those 6 dislikes this is high quality content people
Cats aren't impossible to train, just look at crookshanks from Harry Potter
1:18 “as these were the most common pets.” Budgies are number 3.
There’s this free app called Sky. It feels like it popped out of nowhere. It has better graphics then Minecraft which costs 6.99.
It also has stunning music and a brilliant finale.
I’d like to know the history of it, since it really did pop out of nowhere for me.
It seems really underrated.
It’s actually become one of my favorite games, along with animal crossing and Splatoon.
Ah the good days, I remember walking my shiba Jan and getting play coins
I remember I had Nintendogs+cats wen I had a DSI, BUUUTT that was like 10 years ago sooooo
The voice recognition was amazing at the time (at least, in my hazy memories of the game!). There wasn't much content to the game, it was something that you just dipped into for a short burst every day. Sounds like most mobile games these days.
I have a pink DSI and I ordered a best friends version of nintendogs on Amazon for my DSI
Did the video really need to scream at me whenever all the animals appeared?
Yeah, that part was definitely too loud. I'll be more careful with that kind of thing in future!
nice. such a unique channel
Thank you!
Id do anything for another nintendogs game
I thought it was called
Nintendo Dogs
I remember losing my ds and being so sad because i thought I abandoned my dogs on nintendogs
All I want to know is WHERE IS MY CARTRAGE D:
did you check inside the _A B Y S S ?_
When I saw there was multiple ones for multiple breeds, I was like: I DON’T NEED MONEY! I NEED ALL THE NINTENDOGS GAMES EVER!
I love dogs…
Keep at it! I love this show :) woof
Haha, thanks! *woof*
Growing up in the 90s, I had some of the Catz and Dogz games for PC. The difference between them and Nintendogs was huuuge. Catz and Dogz were flat pixel animations, and while cute, were nothing compared to the DS pups, who actually looked like real puppies. It was a big deal, and is easy to see why the franchise was so successful.
Oh wow I got really distracted reading about Catz and Dogz! While definitely dated, they look pretty unique, what with them walking all over the desktop and stuff!
I remember when this was new n thought it was stupid till my friend showed me how it worked n got fascinated with the commands
Came from reddit.
🔥📽👌
I really hope Nintendogs comes to the switch
4:08 i have the end one was my first :)
thanks for reminding me that all my pets are probably dead due to me losing my DS 2 years ago
Omg I loved Nintendogs when I was little :D
Haha, sadly I missed out on it - I still find it very interesting though... Maybe I'm subconsciously trying to make up for the lost years, haha!
I got the 3ds version yesterday
I love Nintendogs and have been playing for years, it is definitely the best pet simulator! And it allows me to have dogs at least, since I cant have one in real life yet
I have 3 different Nintendo dog's games and 1 Nintendo Dogs and CATS game which is my fav cause it has cats and cats r life😻😼 (nohateplz)
both dogs and cats are life
I think I still have my old nintendogs
Dude, nintendogs is such a good game. They should make a real life version of it. Might sell a million copies.
Now I want a dog
3:25 hey guys let’s Exchange our dogs!
What do i think of when i think of the ds? Pokemon, Warioware Touched and Super Mario 64 DS
3:20 I'm pretty sure that's the idea StreetPass was based on.
Also the idea of Download Play
@@iverson64_ Download Play already existed.
My only memory of Nintendogs is a n assist trophy in Brawl.
When I think of DS I think about flip note studio
I didn’t know how to feed the dog and when I fed a bone (apeers when u pet the dogs head )
My whole family came up and watched the dog eat
1:36 lol he wear Splatoon shirt
When I think of DS, I think of my favorite game, Pokemon Soulsilver.
I still love my chuwawa Eevee from Nintindogs we are still best friends ❤️
that's funny think to the chain chomp story
I miss Nintendogs... :(
Nintendog was released on the day I was born😱
I just wanna enter nintendogs and pet all the dogs
There's a Nintendogs, but is there a Nintendcats? (I know Nintendogs sounds kinda like a play on words for Nintendo and Nintendcats doesn't, but is there?)
The 3DS sequel to nintendogs has cats you can adopt.
