Dell Latitude 3300 3310 Unboxing Disassembly Upgrade Review & Benchmarks

- We unbox and benchmark a Dell Latitude 3300 3310. We then disassemble it and upgrade the RAM from 4GB of slow Kingston RAM to 16GB of fast Crucial RAM; and benchmark the laptop. Then we replace the tiny 128GB M.2 SSD with a 1TB Crucial P1 Solid State Drive, download and install Windows 10, patch and then benchmark it again. The results were a bit surprising to us.

Great video but while I have these laptops open I always torque down screws. Especially around the hinges and cpu. It's also a great time to blow it out if it's used. Another thing I like to use is Dell's SupportAssist tools to recover Windows. Its usually a little behind but as a kernel debugger I bonk the system software often and can bring back up a full system in minutes after initial recovery. The initial prework is a little more convoluted but it makes for doing my work a sinch. Much, much easier
Good to know the ssd is actually upgradable , Dell doenst want us to know it is , because they said it's stop at 256gb
On my laptop there were no threaded holes in the other end for the SSD 'bracket' to screw into. Can't tell from the video if you screwed it down.
You are correct. In a nutshell, he cheated and didn't want to show it in the video. If you look carefully, Dell tapped the holes where the SSD anchor originally was with threaded inserts. They didn't provide threaded inserts on the far side (boo, Dell!!), where a M.2 2280 SSD needs to be screwed down, and Dell mounted the metal plate under the SSD compartment using melt-on plastic, so there's no easy way to get underneath that and tap the holes yourself. I can't tell if his SSD anchor is being held in place entirely by jamming it onto the plastic "studs" or if he substituted slightly wider, coarser-threaded screws or tiny machine screws to hold the longer SSD down.
Jesus man u really saved my old school laptop
Glad it helped. Thanks for the comment and sorry for the looooong time lag on the response; I have been in Hell in recent months with... lots of personal stuff. Thanks again.
@@URTechDotCa no peoblem!
Wow I was really worried that I was going to break something
Darn i really hoped this this thing had the option for dual channel ram. I guess i wont be upgrading for now...
I noticed you never disconnected the battery to replace the parts. Is that something i should be doing.
yes
Are there any backlit keyboard mods for this laptop (or backlit keyboard from other dell laptop). Badly want this but keyboard is huge factor for me
Great Video you should put NFO on the RAM and where to buy the Memory? Thank you mine has 8G.......want to see how much for 16G or higher?
Tried upgrading the ram with Kingston hyperx 16gb ddr4 2400mhz, didn't work, did some research about it and mostly people said that dell is picky with ram, the laptop did not detect the ram from the 1 amber 2 white light code. Decided to return it, the original ram from the laptop worked fine. Idk if I did something wrong or I should've got a crucial ram.
Most systems really want the "right" RAM. Perhaps it was the CAS level. I would try Crucial... they make a great product too.
@@URTechDotCa I replaced the refunded ram to crucial, it arrived yesterday and I'm glad to report it did work, laptop is quicker now and can play some games in low settings
I am planning to buy one of these laptops please provide a description of the SSD I need to get to upgrade
thanks for posting.
is the 1TB Crucial P1 2280 size?
thanks
Hi. May I know how to light up the keyboard? Thank you. I hope you notice this.
It's only got a single dimm slot for memory with no onbaord memory so no chance of dual channel configuration, but with a laptop like this where you obviously wont be doing any gaming on then it really doesnt matter.
it does run war thunder on very low settings runs just fine
I found a better/worse version of this for free and was hoping it could do a bit of gaming but its probably only going to handle very low games
Dude mine is doing nothing. I have nothing on the bottom of screen ??? I'm ready to throw it out the window !°!!!
Great video, thanks for posting.
I've a couple questions, hope you can help. The 64gb variant of this machine - do you know if it is a flash drive...? If so, would it be upgradable to regular ssd or nvme...?(I've never heard of a company actually using a flash drive as storage. Also, are there 2 slots for ram in this machine...?
Thanks
I didn't see what the specs were for the new 16gb memory ..?
Great video and explanations....thanks
(I'm not familiar with taking laptops apart)
I am 95% sure the 64GB version is just a 64GB M.2 NVME SSD and the I am 100% sure there is only 1 DIMM slot for RAM. Thanks for the kind words. :)
can you link some cheap low capacity nvme m.2 drives that will work on the dell latitude 3310? Thanks.
Is the nvme SSD replaceable in that version ? Can i use like a samsung 970 evo 512gb to 1 TB ?
How can i active touch screen
Can you do one for upgrading the processor? I am wanting to upgrade it, but don't know what I will be doing.
Hi Dylan CPU upgrades are not possible on most laptops because the CPU's usually get soldered onto the board.
@@URTechDotCa Okay. Thank you for letting me know. :(
Is it possible to upgrade the cpu?
Definitely not. Socketed cpus (the ones you could upgrade) are a thing of the past unfortunately
IS the 3310 fanless?
Noper but it is very quiet
What kind of ram is this? Ddr3?
Ddr4
Disconnect the battery yo
