    1 hour in, and so far the whole video has been worth it just to learn how to quickly reset a setting in Fv mode to Auto. (whew!)
    Incredibly detailed and measured, digestible instructions. Thanks for making this.

    Oh wow 👏 👏 👏 Michael you are the man. I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do for your channel. This extensive video you made on the Canon RP is by far the best intro for beginners like me and others on here. You should have over 1 million subscribers. The way you dedicate your time and effort in making these videos is awesome. Thank you so much and you got a subscriber for life. Keep up the great work. Love it sir. God bless you. 👌🏼🙏🏼

    Thanks for the excellent EOS RP tutorial. I already knew the two EOS R7 videos that I watched before buying the R7. That helped me alot. Now I bought the RP and could see from your video that the settings are very similar. That's good to know 😉.

    Michael The Maven. To start with, thank you very much for this tutorial. One can never (EVER) know it all. I've owned a number of Canon cameras in the past, and still have 5D Mark IV (current) and the EOS R (current).
    Bottom line is this. I know my equipment (in and out) - or so I thought. I don't own the RP, but his tutorial has been a real eye opener for me, all thanks to you. I was amazed at how many little gems I have discovered on Canon system and the R in particular, simply by watching this tutorial. Well done and thank you.

    Outstanding video Thanks Michael! This is my 1st Canon since the EOS 620, and I'm honestly shocked I bought it over the A7III. After I put down all the pros and cons, this one fit the bill better... literally, lol. Hoping Canon updates the lack of 1080/24 in the next firmware. Great video, thanks again! Would love to see advice for setting up the color schemes (Auto, Standard, etc.). The only thing I would have added is that the EG-1 extender is a must... it transforms the camera and has made my 24-105 far more enjoyable to use.

    • @MMaven
      @MMaven  5 лет назад +3

      @@beaugy99 So funny you should mention this, I had the exact conversation last night with a buddy. I tried the R and didnt like it, so I returned it. Tried the RP and it was far better for me, and in terms of the value, I was like...wow this is a homerun camera. My buddy is getting one too, and we both think its the one of the best for portraits (color science + continuous eye AF). Just like you said, I took that extra savings and got the 24-105. What a Phenomenal value!

    Hi. Great info. Question: Why is my RP focusing on the branch and not the bird even if the focal setting is right where the bird is (for example the center of the view finder)? I try this on auto focus and on manual and get the same results. I have missed hundreds of great photos because the camera won't focus. When I get a focused photograph I am shocked. Thank you.

    Hello Michel, amazingly good video thus far. Watched the first 5 minutes and will continue to watch to the end. Just bought a canon EOS SR and I have a problem that I can't figure out, and I hope you can help me. When I zoom in close using 24-105mm lens, after I hold the shutter button halfway, I see two number 1/80 and F4 in RED. When I press all the way down, the image is taken far away not like you have it zoomed in. Please tell me you know this. Thank you so much for this video. That's exactly what I needed.

    • @MMaven
      @MMaven  5 лет назад

      The red numbers mean the camera is not exposed correctly. When you zoom in, you are likely using the magnifying button, which only magnifies the view (this is to help with manual focus). To truly zoom in you must use the lens only.

    • @cme123tr
      @cme123tr 5 лет назад

      Thank you so much Michael for your quick reply. But zooming with the lens does not go as close as the zoom with the magnifying button. I'm trying to match the magnification of the lens with the magnification of the magnifying button. I was amazed with the x10 magnification but I wanted to take the photo at 10x but the lens does not seem to go so close. I'm assuming the lens does not go as close? Thanks again! Your Overview video, now that is how a professional looking video should look. Excellent work.

    • @MMaven
      @MMaven  5 лет назад +1

      @@cme123tr Yes, that is how the camera is designed to work. The Lens in the limit of true magnification, the magnify button only enlarges the screen. It is a only a temporary, digital magnification that is there to aid in focusing. If you want to zoom in to that degree, you have do it in photoshop after the image is taken.

    Awesome video. Played with the RP and R. Love the feel but so frustrated trying to move the focus point around. So, decided to buy Z6 today and then find they are under recall. Back to looking at the RP. I’m just not getting how to easily keep the focus point where I want it. I’m sure it’s just my lack of knowledge but photo store salespeople don’t seem to know how to work this camera and are no help. Are others enjoying how the RP focuses? And I’m a left eye shooter.

    Hey, thanks for great tutorial, it's very helpful as i just got RP with 24-105 lens. Have a question though. When i'm trying to enter manual focus mode, i'm switching a toggle from control to focus on my lenses, and although then i can use a ring to set a focus manually, my camera body still shows AF icon, peaking doesn't work and AF button still works and sets focus automatically. To enter manual mode that works just like in Your tutorial, i have to set MF mode in the menu. Is there something wrong with my hardware, or am i missing something here?

    Wow man this is awesome. I'm still debating between this and the 6Dmkii upgrading from T4i/650D (Which I saw your tutotrial years ago). My only hesitation is risking fsp and battery life for new system readiness, and EFS, EF, and RF glass options. Would love you hear your thoughts.

    • @nickhyatt5870
      @nickhyatt5870 5 лет назад +1

      Carlos, I picked up a RP as a replacement for a 20D that I've had for many years. My thoughts are.....
      1. Battery life is as bad as people say. You definitely need a second and possibly a third battery to get you through a full day shooting.
      2. EVF is fine for the job and you can easily use it to focus as well as compose the photo. It does seem to have a colour cast so is not representative of what the sensor records. The flip out screen is more truthful in its colours. Info available on both is well presented and I've not missed the top LCD screen I had on the 20D.
      3. RF glass is incredible. I got a deal that included the 24-105RF L f4 lens. Even compared to my 70-200 f2.8L it is an amazingly sharp lens. Yes, it is pricey (and it is heavy when compared to the body weight of the RP) but even from the few photo sessions I've made so far, I can see it is a great bit of kit. Especially like the control ring which I'm using for exposure compensation.
      4. Autofocus speed seems good (possibly helped by the new lens system). The touch and drag feature to position the focus point using the flip out screen is a pain if you are a left-eyed photographer. My nose keeps repositioning the focus point.
      5. FPS is about the same as my 14-year-old 20D (i.e. not that great). However, as a landscape (mostly) photographer, it isn't an issue for me. If you want to cover fast-moving sports, wildlife etc, then you might find it more restricting. But then what did you expect from a $1300 full frame camera!
      So far, I'm loving it. It is not perfect but for my needs (and as an upgrade from a much older camera) it is a joy to use. Hope this helps?
