The fact the chick at 7:13 was saying the fighters only have a little amount of good them shows how judgmental she is, pisses me off she assumes they’re all terrible people for being to fight.
She's saying she KNOWS everyone must have that *little* good somewhere in there, not that they only have a little bit of good in them. This is a difference in the perception of violence, to put it in perspective, in her mind committing violence is no different than willfully murdering someone, thats what she imagines has to go through someone's head to hit someone. In reality violence is very nuanced, situational, and good vs bad can have very little if not nothing to do with it. This being said I believe she is living in a sort of imaginary world with her own made up rules motivations for violence. This likely comes from a place of complete ignorance to the topic and therefore she is very likely not a "bad person" for her views. She sure as shit isn't very likable for them though 🤷

"Hate violence, even if it's to stop other violence" Ah yes, the "zero-tolerance for bullying" approach. So you support violence, as long as it's not the most recent violence.
The self proclaimed pacifist black lady makes me cringe when she says “deep down there may be good inside them”. Most of these UFC fighters are humble, disciplined, and respectful people, not straight up warmongers and barbarians from the medieval-age. It’s like she has a premonition that UFC fighters brains are just caveman killing addicted people. These fighters have full respect for each other. Kinda weird when she says that. Anyways I love the dude in the video, maybe a future/secret UFC fan
I love it when you see an MMA fan that doesn't know they're a fan yet, I've met a few of them when I was out watching fights before too. Curious thing about this guy is that he said he has friends that are into it, it's weird that he seems so receptive to it and it's not like he hasn't been exposed to it before.
Well I think you're misscharacterizing him because nowhere in the video does he say "I did not enjoy that" as a matter of fact at the end of the video he says the exact opposite. He says "I respect the dedication and the craft."
they don't seem that really shocked , pacifist my ass yeah, they seem pretty enjoy but dont assume it, i don't support violence , but the world is as it is, you have to deal with it, but don't smile if you truely think it's horrible , they are not diferent , we all are humans , for the best and for the worst
I mean, ultimately I'm a pacifist, I dont like or believe in solving things with violence unless entirely necessary. But this shits a sport, I love it.
He's easygoing and open-minded about things that may not be his cup of tea. A gold star pacifist if you ask me. Being vehemently anti-everything-that-doesnt-cater-to-my-sensibilities seems like the one life path a pacifist would most likely want to avoid to keep confrontation to a minimum, but it's clearly not the case.
He definitely seems like the least confrontational of the pacifists on display. Some of the others look ready to fight over how pacifist they believe everybody should be.
It’s interesting seeing how differently these three people who say they’re the same thing react to MMA, Laura respects it as a sport but has a lot of empathy and worries for the fighters, Zach doesn’t really seem to be trying to push the “pacifist” message but seems to actually enjoy the sport I think he’s just against real violence and brutality like most of us, and Ingrid seems to think she has some moral high ground and that people who watch and enjoy MMA are genuinely weird/wrong and that the fighters are bad people for participating in it and for doing what they do in their fights
Asking if it's normal human behavior... this kind of activities have been a thing (and a very central one at that) since the dawn of civilization across all continents. Like, what are you going to do, ban humanity? This has across history and cultures always been a core part of being a human.
She’s a pacifist but every second sentence of hers was about how this is barbaric and questioning the behavior making it look bad. In the end when she is like “I believe everyone has good in them” and then makes it look like these athletes are bad people because of their sport. How can she call herself a pacifist if with every statement or hers she tries to make it look bad to make her look better. I mean you would be used to this behavior from those weird girls from Highschool or like 14 year olds but for a grown woman to be so into appearance and being right all the time fucks my head up. "deep down inside there is a little bit of good in them" what an ignorant and ridiculous statement about martial artists.... Most of them are top notch human beings. It's unbelievable how brainwashed this woman is, the one who is ashamed of her age.
Nah, most of them aren't top notch human beings. They are average human beings, some are "good" some are "a*holes" and most are somewhere in between just like in the normal population. And it's not ridiculous to think they are bad if you aren't into MA and only see how they beat the living crap out of each other, it's not normal social behaviour. You only understand that it's acceptable if you inform yourself about it, that there are strict rules to make it safe and fair, and both fighters are consenting individuals, otherwise, it's totally normal to think it's barbaric.
Ikr and her just saying "there has to be another way to resolve this" resolve what? There usually never is any real beef between fighters. Most of the time the "beef" is just made up to sell ppv. And even in real beef fights, there isnt any other way to resolve it. Thats just how we humans are. If somone beats you in a 1v1 fair and square mma fight. What ever issues you had with him should be gone. The beef is over. Like in street beefs, most if not all real beef fights end in the opponents huging it out or shaking hands. This lady really triggered me lol
Man the older lady has a very twisted sense of morality, I really struggle to understand her at all. It seems she's found a way to believe herself a good person based on an idea that most people grow out of. The character and discipline displayed by the majority of MMA fighters is a much more authentic foundation for any morality than simply 'I don't believe in violence therefore I am good'. Charles Oliveira's story is a perfect example. Raised in the slums, he spent decades mastering mindful violence to create a better life for himself and so many others in his community. I wonder how her beliefs would tackle that reality if she spent some time learning.
The whole "that's not normal" comment is actually so strange to me. Violence is the most innate thing to not just humans but any animal ever! Compared to that the comfort that allowed a part of the population to be able to deny violence is actually the not normal thing.
They appear to be presenting some of the KOs without context, which doesn't really help the reacters (reactors?) understand the situation. Regardless, bringing pacifists onto a show called "MMA Reacts" is like bringing someone of an opposing political view onto one of the US "News" networks. You're there to say the wrong things and get dunked on. The ladies seem to be doing alright in this regard. Zach, who has clearly seen a fight or two in his lifetime, is failing at this.
You said it absolutely perfectly. She was pissing me off the whole time too. Her comment about how there must be some good in them was completely and totally disrespectful. She doesn't understand what it actually takes to do this for a living. An archaic and, quite frankly ridiculous belief that not believing in violence simply makes you a good person proves she doesn't know much about anything.
"You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" Unless you are capable of great violence. If you are not capable of violence, You're not peaceful, You're harmless"
you cannot cause harm even if you wanted to or tried. i chose peace today because i know what i am fully capable of and dont want to harm anyone with my glorious power.
Yeah, that was a little wild. But I don't think MVP has done in cage celebrations that involve his opponents anymore since then. Probably felt horrible after he found out he actually broke the dudes skull. That was so odd to watch. Cyborg just on the ground writhing in pain he didn't know he could feel, then the dude who did it throw's a pokeball at you. Not a great look.
Yeah that mentality comes from someone who has never been exposed to hardship or violence. But while he said that. It's not really the reality. He might just suck at fighting and may be comfortable within society where he is. But I'm willing to bet if he was put into a situation where it was fight or die. He would choose fight. As is natural of humans and any other creature on the planet. Humanity as a whole are complex creatures. When it comes down to it. That said people like them first try to avoid conflict. Then try to negotiate their way out of it. And then as a last resort, will fight with everything they have. They might not be skilled. But desperate people have pulled off some amazing shit in history.
“it’s just not normal is it?” You’re absolutely right. We as a species have only survived thousands of years through a lack of violence. The same goes for tigers…
Being a pacifist is respectable. Being able to keep your cool in escalating situations and find a peaceful resolve is a very admirable trait. BUT… refusing any kind of violence and refusing to learn any self defense is just irresponsible.
I read this somewhere and can't remember when: "You can’t truly call yourself ‘peaceful’ unless you are capable of great violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful, you’re harmless."
Zach: Father Figure (secretly loves fights) Laura: Mother Figure (cares a lot about the individual fighters and seems genuninely worried) Ingrid: Mother Theresa (falsely wise, arrogant, ignorant)
I like the difference between Laura’s and Ingrid. Laura is quite sheltered, but she means well, and opposes violence out of genuine concern for others. As far as I can tell, she doesn’t think she’s superior to others. Ingrid is a pacifist so she can (in her mind) be superior to other people without actually doing anything to improve herself.
Mother Theresa was very good at torture and causing suffering. I can totally see how a pacifist would idolize them. /s Calls sport barbaric, but doesn't even have a proper education .. -sigh-

My mother had a relative who didn't care much for ice hockey. But her eyes would be glued to the screen every time two players dropped the gloves for a fight.
As someone who was a soldier for quite a while I can never quite grasp pacifism. Not everyone is kind and understanding which is when violence is necessary. Only a madman wishes for war but only a naive person isn't ready for it.
As a swiss i am priveledged enough to not have to go to the army. (I did a year of civil service because you can help more people like that, at least in a country that has been "neutral" for centuries now.) Trying to steelman his argument, "violence doesn't solve anything" could be applied to something like gang wars, when there's an endless spiral of revenge going on and each side feels justified so it never stops. Of course wiping out the other side completely would solve it...
Exactly, imagine if ww2 never happend, if no one stood up to hitler with violence. What would the world look like under the rule of nazi germany....they just dont care what violence has done to humanity
Being a "pacifist" is a privilege granted by the massive struggle and battles and bloody wars fought by our ancestors, as well as the entire battle for survival over hundreds of millions of years of evolution leading up to our current "civilized" form
It's not just a privilege bestowed by ancestors but even in current conditions we have rule of law. We trust that we don't have to hunt animals because hunters do that for us. Food doesn't come from the forest, it comes from the grocery store now. We won't get raped or murdered on our way to the store because there is rule of law, and bad people who would do such things know they will be dragged to prison by a government capable of as much violence as possible to make sure they go. Pacifists outsource violence, then look down on the people they outsource it to
Not true, there are many religions that have practiced non violence from pre silk road up to now, there was also a pacifist medic in ww2 that was awarded the medal of honor for his actions on Hacksaw Ridge. Life is more nuanced than you think bro, having a narrow view can blind you to reality.
@@Audio041194 Yes, but these examples exist within the overall framework of human society that has been brought about through violence. If everyone in ww2 acted as the medic did, the war would have been lost, and the temporary peaceful times that we have all taken for granted in the western world would have never come to be. What do you think would have happened to Ukraine, for example, if they just chose the pacifist way. Surely nothing good. Hopefully they win the war and expel the forces that are trying to take them over so that people can exist peacefully and "passively" within their society when it's all over. But none of that will be possible without first fighting (by the way I was in Kiev when the war started). Also why do you feel the need to add "having a narrow view can blind you to reality?" In disagreeing with my point, you are trying (pathetically) to attack me for some reason, without even knowing anything about me. Very strange
I find Ingrid's "moral high ground" to be fucking hilarious. The other two are fine, much like how a father and mother would react to a school fight. But Ingrid is just calling these guys and gals evil for repeatedly and brutally punching and kicking each other with full force until the other party is knocked out, in which case they would continue to brutally smash their faces. Honestly, she's just so soft.
I'm going to be very frank with everyone here: I'm a peace activist. I absolutely hate the concept of war. I went to Iraq and saw atrocities and became disenchanted with violence of all kinds. That said, I'm also a martial artist. I have been involved in MMA since my youth. And the mentality and environment in actual MMA is completely different from the violence we see in war and crime. The people involved are consenting adults, and they are proficient in a skill. To be averse to this sort of sport in such a snooty way is basically a lack in understanding as opposed to a higher understanding. I can't speak for all martial artists, but the folks I've been around have been the most willing to put their own lives on the line before others in order to prevent cruel situations from occurring. To me, this is a form of pacifism that makes the most sense. The whole hemophobic and cringey disposition is essentially childish in my eyes.
The two women really come across as totally self righteous and condescending. I am fine with people not liking things, but those two just seem bitter, no need to insult someone just for having different interests.

Yeah I find it strange she didnt told her age
Yeah and that us fightfans are bad people too

It always makes me laugh when I see or hear someone say "violence never solves anything" especially when the people that say that live comfortably and securely in communities where violence is literally solving things 24/7.
They pay other people to be violent FOR them, and to make sure to do it out of their sight...
@@MrWayne1701 Exactly. Criticism of the conqueror while enjoying the spoils of victory.
It would be dumb too for basically any country. Your independence was won not just by violence, but by a fuckton of death.
Do people think American slaves were freed because we politely asked?
@@davidmock7592 Preachin' to the choir, David, I always say, if violence doesn't solve your problem, you're not using enough!
@Cheese Fiend I couldn't agree more. Fiend! Who has the superior morality, someone who cowers before evil, or the one who rises up and destroys it?
“Deep deep down I know there’s still good in them” like lady, some of these fighter, actually a lot of fighters do a lot for their communities, charities, and more. Which is a lot more than she’s ever done for her community
now now, she's probably a very descent twitter activist. 😂
I got so annoyed at that. There's only a select few of them who are complete assholes. Most of them are decent and as you said so many do a lot for others. This woman is out of touch with reality
Jon Jones has entered the chat 🤣
I mean... Stipe was the champion of the division with some of the most brutal knockouts (generally speaking) while being a first aid responder and firefighter XD
Guaranteed. She just thinks she has better morals than these fighters which, ironically, makes here a worse person than them.
Zach turns as quickly as every MMA fan talking to a non-fan
Being a pacifist is such a strange concept. The fact that you could be so sheltered your whole life to the point of disillusion when a simple mma fight is on is worrying. Hopefully they never see what true violence really is
there is no simple mma fight . they are cte causing activities

The guy is just like my wife, complains every time I turn on a fight and then avidly watches it and cheers them on while pretending she hates it. Armchair pacifist 😂
My mother had a relative who didn't care much for ice hockey. But her eyes would be glued to the screen every time two players dropped the gloves for a fight.

@@kuroishiroi9012 That was awful, but still funny.
LOL armchair pacifist was the best hahaha
As someone who was a soldier for quite a while I can never quite grasp pacifism. Not everyone is kind and understanding which is when violence is necessary. Only a madman wishes for war but only a naive person isn't ready for it.
Your last sentence is very good bro
As a swiss i am priveledged enough to not have to go to the army. (I did a year of civil service because you can help more people like that, at least in a country that has been "neutral" for centuries now.) But in a more personal way a also wont start a fight with anyone anywhere but i will defend myself if someone chose to attack me. Which gladly has only happend once (being 6'5 230lbs helps a lot there) and that guy was drunk af.
I always want to be ready to survive but never ready to kill someone else, I personally hold no love for my friggin country, but yeah, I'd do anything to protect my loved ones
I may be a pacifist, and would never volunteer for the military, and if I was drafted I would try to get conscientious objector status. That being said, if I went to war, I imagine I would shoot back. Violence itself isn’t inherently good or bad, it’s in how you use it, and I think many people in our society are too immature to use it correctly or see the difference.
It can come from honesty. People that are aware they dont have whats in them to fight back or people that suffered from violence and will not repeat it under amy circumstances
I've been doing mma for 3 years.
Met some of the most chill people ever in my gym.

The lady who said "deep deep deep down there is some good in them", imagine the fighters who donate 10's of thousands of dollars to charity and help their community and she has the audacity to imply they are essentially for the most part, terrible people.
Yeah, saying that was the true violence
Fighters: martial arts saved my life and kept me out of trouble. I want to give other disadvantaged kids in my area the same chance that I had.

These pacifists are just priviligied people
That was the most telling portion of the video, her implying that being a professional fighter makes someone a bad person. Incredibly shallow and judgemental
She’s just blinded by the violence and dosent understand what the fighters truly are.

It’s always fascinating how out of touch some people can be… “Violence doesn’t solve anything”. It actually solves a whole lot of things, especially when properly applied 🤷🏻♂️
Trying to steelman his argument, "violence doesn't solve anything" could be applied to something like gang wars, when there's an endless spiral of revenge going on and each side feels justified so it never stops. Of course wiping out the other side completely would solve it...
Yea anyone who says violence doesn't solve anything has never kicked a bully's ass.
Exactly, imagine if ww2 never happend, if no one stood up to hitler with violence. What would the world look like under the rule of nazi germany....they just dont care what violence has done to humanity
@@Mr_Tokon gang violence isn’t proper application, lmao
NOPE!
Being a "pacifist" is a privilege granted by the massive struggle and battles and bloody wars fought by our ancestors, as well as the entire battle for survival over hundreds of millions of years of evolution leading up to our current "civilized" form
on point
@@Audio041194 Without all the other men with weapons he would have died pretty quickly.

The whole hemophobic and cringey disposition is essentially childish in my eyes.
that was great bro!
