Nick Diaz DOES have pretty poor fundamentals, it's just that he knows it himself and makes it work by forcing a context where it does. He does those long whippy hooks but also combines them with shots down the middle to manipulate an opponent's guard. The more half assed punches also work because of the small gloves that can add a lot of pain to the body shots, so he's fine with sacrificing leverage just to reach around an elbow to hammer at the ribs. He also sacrifices torque to throw same-side combos really quickly, making the punches weak, but they do the job of filling the space while he loads up the same side for a harder blow, or attacks from the other side. It is not incorrect to say his boxing is not very good, but the way he takes those tools and carves out all those iconic wins is what truly makes him great. It is a disservice to simply describe him as a really good boxer, because his overall game is much more sophisticated than that, in its own ugly but effective way.
@@vertigo10yearsago25 who knows if he ever had the potential? The way Nick Diaz is, I'm not sure if any other style could have translated his own preferences and insecurities into anything effective. Also, the main obstacle to his style was his lack of wrestling defense, and his inability to cut off the cage against someone with good ring craft. His boxing attack in terms of punch form and shot selection was fine for what it tried to do, his deficiencies elsewhere were the real problem.

MMA fans generally have a little brother context. The truth is that most boxers and/or boxing fans don't hardly care about MMA, whereas 8/10 MMA fans cannot go 1 day without saying how a boxer would not survive in a grappling exchange (as if that was something very new and clever to say). MMA fans also tend to hate the fact that the way their sport is presented, promoted, and even the setup of the business owes a lot to pro wrestling. To say nothing of all the fans who crossed over to give it the financial life it now has.
@LeonWillBeatUsman well, when you're around the key nodes of both sports itself, you'll notice that as well. Some of it is gone already, but it's noticeable if you look at older media.

It’s not helped him become the elite champion he had the potential to become
@@vertigo10yearsago25 who knows if he ever had the potential? The way Nick Diaz is, I'm not sure if any other style could have translated his own preferences and insecurities into anything effective. Also, the main obstacle to his style was his lack of wrestling defense, and his inability to cut off the cage against someone with good ring craft. His boxing attack in terms of punch form and shot selection was fine for what it tried to do, his deficiencies elsewhere were the real problem.
That was a fun watch. Would have been cool to see Viddal react to elite MMA strikers like Prime Silva, Adesanya, etc. ;) Next time maybe
This guy looks chill as hell. Would love to hang out with him for a few and hear about his come up.
this video is sick i've been watching Viddal longer than I have been watching MMA on point, this collab is amazing, Viddal one of the best up and coming boxers and MMA on point one of the best MMA info and analysis channels
One thing to note a boxers defence is much different then mma as they only need to be concerned with the hands, but mma you need to be concerned with knees , legs , take downs and subs
I want to see more videos like this because the boxer should be an expert by now and MMA is a bit of everything so it was nice to see him breaking everything down.
Dude is high asf reacting to MMA.
Love it 😂
He articulated all of his excellent points better than I could dream of doing. Really impressed.
You can tell he's an mma fan because he can pronounce Gaethje 😂
Love Viddal, it's good to see variety in the guests and in the content
I’ve noticed all these Uk fighters over the years have such a great mentality. They do not change. Such humble, genuine respectful people who appreciate art and poetry.
gtfoh they are shit stirrers, or did you think joshua throwing usyk's belts out the pram was humble
Meanwhile, KSI: I AM THE NIGHTMARE MATE HAHAHAHA
@@remyhavoc4463 KSI ain't no fighter bruh
Wow, Riley even referenced the video games. Good on him. Idk why I always expect Boxers to throw shade at MMA.
Yo!!! Comprehensive Breakdown, 👊🏾🦁🦁🇳🇬🇺🇸
Great breakdown by a great boxer
This was awesome! Thanks so much.
Aww man I’m sad he glossed over the back fist of doom. He was too impressed with askrens previous combos he had to look away.
So much respect for viddal he can properly enjoy combat sports he's not a one sided fighter like most boxers who hate on MMA but he has respect for striking in general
Finally someone said Nick Diaz’s boxing can be sloppy af. Same with Nick. They throw wide looping punches and tend to just overwhelm opponents with volume and cardio.
Compared to some MMA fighters, they look like Sonny Liston. Especially Ben Askren lmao
Viddal was great. Please have him back for a second round of reactions.
His great at analyzing!
Don't follow boxing so wasn't aware of this guy, but he seems very well informed and reasonable. I'm a fan!
His last few knockouts have been pretty nice you should watch them
I would have loved to see him break down charles oliveira's left hook on chandler because man that's one of the most technical left hooks I've ever seen also an israel adesanya breakdown would be neat as well
@LeonWillBeatUsman eeh dillian whyte used to have a sick left hook, bro looks like he needs to retire now cant lie.
@LeonWillBeatUsman bruh I said it was one of the most technical left hooks I've seen I didn't say it was the best left hook ever thrown you acting like I could charles oliveira, canelo and of course I'm talking in the context of MMA and not other sports get a grip bro
@LeonWillBeatUsman gaslighting is a fine art and you've perfected it well done
surprised there was no Izzy analysis
shame
Veey good video I enjoyed that. Deffo keeping my eye out for Viddal now.
Finally a man who understands no single punch will technically look like a boxers.
Fundamentally not possible if you dont wanna get your ass beat
Edit: Ahhh hes a fellow fan of the sport. Nice to see
I love the fact your a boxer but still admire the mma aspect. You should help mma fighters with their boxing, you have a good eye. Im subscribed
Should of had della maddalena in there crispiest boxing in ufc
He was very complimentary to the mma guys he seems like a cool guy most boxers just say these guy suck lol I like this guy
Funny of him saying Holloway has long limbs, considering that he has a short reach for his height
He has a short reach because his shoulders aren’t wide but his arms do be long
I like how this guy is knowledgeable and respectful about MMA and doesn't just dismiss it by saying boxers have better hands
They have better hands.
@Fightfront WTF where is Adrian Yanez? Arguably the best boxer in the ufc right now
No Max Holloway head movement, no Ilia Topurria, no Anderson Silva vs Griffin? Good video, but would've loved to see those make the cut
VIDDDDDALLLLL
VIDDDALLLL!
VIDDALLLLLL RILEY
This was very good commentary. Thanks for doing this.
Dude dropped some good bits of knowledge here. When a good boxer talks striking, you listen.
YOOOOO the collab i never knew I needed
