How to make the curly brim:
Hdc - Half double crochet
St/s - stitch/s
Sc - single crochet
Round 15 - *1hdc into next 3 sts, 2hdc into next st, repeat from * around.
Round 16 - *1hdc into next 4 sts, 2hdc into next st, repeat from * around.
Round 17 - *1hdc into next 5 sts, 2hdc into next st, repeat from * around.
Round 18 - *1hdc into next 6 sts, 2hdc into next st, repeat from * around.
Round 19 - *1hdc into next 7 sts, 2hdc into next st, repeat from * around.
Round 20 - 1sc into every stitch around. Slip stitch into first sc.

why is the thumbnail of curly brim but the video tutorial is straight brim? also does every stitch have to be in only front loop for the brim or only the first row? i followed your explanation but it doesn't curl with as much volume

I've been crocheting for over 20 years & it take me longer then an hour to make a hat like this so for the beginners out there don't be be discouraged if it takes you a few hours for a couple days to finish the hat 🤗🥰

I made the curly brim; row 25: 3 Hdc then inc, row 26: 4 hdc then inc, row 27: 5 hdc then inc, row 28: 6 hdc then inc, row 29: 7 hdc then inc, row 30: 8 hdc then inc, row 31: as shown in the video
Just got to make sure you line up the inc in each row
Im in row 30, 8hdc then inc finished, so now im continued with white color single crochet, right? Or slip stitch?

Great tutorial! My first bucket hat was granny squares but this one worked up so quick and ez...I love it! I did my hat with burnt orange and teal around the curly brim with a marijuana leaf in teal at the front. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

I count every round and make sure I got the right amount of stitches, I'm using worsted so a size 4 instead of 3 yarn and a 4.0 hook, I think my tension is okay but I just finished the crown and it kinda curles a bit, not too much but I'm worried it'll look weird when wearing it... will opening a few rows and making it even loser fix it? Or do I need to start over :( beautiful hats!

If you don't have a stitch marker, use a clasp earring. It works the same in my opinion (although I'm kind of new to crochet)!
I've made 2 with the curly brim - Love them. Trying to find the instructions for the flat (single crochet) brim. Kind of new here, an I missing something?

As a beginner i find it a tad bit misleading to see that the hat thats being made isnt the hat in the thumbnail simply because i was looking particularly for a wavy brim tutorial and the one made in the video doesnt seem to have much wave to it. It doesnt give too much security on the outcome of the project. I recognise as i contonue ti make things maybe things like that will come more naturally and make sense but it wouldve been nice to see the tutorial on the hat thats pictured ♡.
I did explain in the video, but I understand what you mean. I just thought it would be good to have more options so you can choose which one to make. Here's how to make the curly brim:
Hdc - Half double crochet
St/s - stitch/s

I wish you did the curly brim version since it’s the picture for the video. When I end my first row, I end with 1 hdc between two increases for the brim. How do I finish the rows? With a slip stitch. Do you have a tut for the curly brim?

I am a beginner & I am trying to understand the reason the stitch marker is placed in between a sequence when creating the brim.
For example, row 26 is an increaze then 7 half double crochets. On the last sequence of the row the stitch marker ends on 5 half double crochets instead of 7.
I am used to the stitch marker ending on the 7, at the end of the sequence, instead of 5, in between the sequence.
This is confusing me & making it hard to complete the brim on my own.
Can anyone explain why the stitch marker is placed before the 7th stitch & even if its in between a sequence I should just finish it before starting the new row?

I'm making bucket hat as my first ever crochet project, I don't know what did I do wrong, I did exactly the as what you did on the video but it gets sooo big on the side and it was too big for me, I also already measure the right size before as you did :((( do you know how to fix it? do you have any recommendations on what size hook I should use?
She uses size 3 yarn in the video, so if you want the same size as her you’ll need make less rows for the crown. And 5mm hook is the most common for size 4. You can also use the recommended hook size, but the gauge may be different
For the start of the curly brim, do you crochet only into the front loops or keep doing both?

Heey, thank you! So happy you like it! You will need to repeat the 3rd to last row from the crown. Let's say you did 12 rows for the crown, the brim would would be 8 hdc, increase. I hope this helps, let me know if you need more help. I will be here. 💖💖

Make sure you follow her steps, you have to do all two half double crochets in each stitch in the first row after the magic circle and then add an increase (+1 half double crochet in a stitch) in between the two double half crochets for every row you do. Otherwise it'll curl up on you. This makes more sense in the video.
@@chiripaxa yeah explaining a crotchet pattern in words is not easy 😭 but i get what you're saying. i also suspect that it's something to do w my steps in the beginning that makes it curl up later. imma try again this week
