An absolute banger of an episode! Film nerds have been satiated and satisfied by the river of film knowledge that is Tracey Letts. This is what this show is all about.
My youngest brother loved to complain about Fennessy. But he listened to most of his podcasts. He loved filmmaking and I used to smile when he complained about Sean's takes. There was a lot of love in those complaints. He passed this year yet I suspect he's loving this podcast from wherever he is.
i really only discovered the rewatchables within the last couple months, and i like sean fennessy a lot, he kinda reminds me of when i first found dan murrell on youtube, i fully agree with his opinions like at least 80% of the time lol
everyone watching this collectively realizing about 30 minutes in that we've reached the apex mountain of Big Pic guest appearances. lmfao. legendary episode.
A absolute fucking awesome episode Tracy was great! I enjoyed every minute! Im dying hopefully for you do an episode maybe next year with Tracy AND Tim together and just hear yall nerd out about physical media for 2 hours
this was such an absolute joy of an episode - what terrific guy Letts is - so passionate and hilarious - I hope he becomes a regular guest because I could listen to him talk movies all day
This fucking rocked unbelievably hard man. I was slightly bummed Tim wasn't on as Tracy suggested, but like 5 minutes in I was like "this might be the best episode ever" lmao unreal gas from King Tracy
I love watching/listening to people who are passionate about anything, in this case movies, put forth what they are passionate about. This doesn't disappoint.
I'm pausing at the 25:00 mark just to say this is wonderful conversation already and I look forward to procrastinating any and all responsibilities for remainder of this conversation.
I just finished the audio podcast and here I am, watching it. Kind of like buying the newest version of a beloved movie to go next to the one(s) you already own.
Hi from czech republic, I remember watching Zítra vstanu a opařím se čajem (Tommorow I'll wake up and scold myself with tea) when I was little and I remember it being pretty great! Cool to hear it shouted out on the show!
Yes, and equally cool to see Second Run given a shout out! Last time I heard someone of his stature give them a shout-out, it was Ben Whishaw mentioning them in The Guardian (I believe he is quietly a cinephile/collector, maybe not 10,000+ discs though).
Always associate Tracy Letts with his role in Homeland. Great actor. Looking forward to the pod. Edit: Just finished. This is one of The Big Picture's best pods. Adding many of these films to the list to check out. And great insight to Letts' career and physical media collection.
Hey guys, California Sorcerer Bro #557 here. Just have to say how good this episode is and when the convo got into media organization I mentally climaxed. Thank you.
Damn, this is so awesome. Letts is legit, his first three plays and The Minutes are some of the strongest post 80s American plays. Some really grizzly stuff, and Friedkin's best film (adaptations) work since To Live and Die in LA. Big fan.
Tracy used to be a "that guy" for me (LOVED him in "The Big Short", "Ford v Ferrari" and other stuff), but now he is definitely Tracy Letts or The King (of physical media) for me
Indeed. I still prefer to buy movies, music, etc. via physical media, then convert to a digital file myself. When I saw the title, it was "whelp, to the top of the queue it goes!"
Yeah, I have 5000 some movies and I sometimes think about how I couldn't possibly watch all of these regularly but also the other side of my brain tells me to shut up and get that new Shaw Bros set from Arrow. Though you can actually collect movies pretty inexpensively. I mean, you probably aren't going to be buying a lot of boutique label releases for cheap all the time but you can often find a lot of good deals buying used from thrift stores and flea markets and places like that. It's probably partially a good thing that I don't have a lot of money because my media buying habits would be absurd. I've mostly built my collection from flea market shopping, though I'll still jump on a Criterion, Arrow, Kino, or Warner Archive sale whenever I can.
Tracy is one of the best modern playwrights and also one of the best nerd dudes. Wholesome and amazing in interviews - listen to his Marc Maron appearance for another great time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video/episode, loved your conversation with Tracy Letts. One of the best videos about physical media and films that I've seen all year.
loved this! i'm two decades in on collecting records and am a film head that got rid of dvds in the early 2000's and this just pushed me over the edge. going in next B&N Criterion sale. love live physical media
Damn I love these convos. This dude is one of my favs. Anytime he pops up, I’m having a good time. Big Pic wasn’t in my top 5 in my Spotify wrapped only cuz I now watch on YT. 🤷🏽♂️ Hey I wanna SEE my Amanda! Haha
Love the conversation physical media is very important. I'm 24 and have a big movie and record collection, among other stuff.. i think the death of physical media are slightly exaggerated. i dont think it will go anywhere. I agree with sean this is weirdly a golden age a lot of these somewhat obscure 60s movies that have been known about but a lot of them havent been released since vhs we can now see them at least and make our own judgements about them. i also agree that more people my age should understand that streamers won't keep your movies. They change constantly..
Yeah, "death" is definitely an exaggeration. But it's definitely become a niche market. I always visit the Bluray section when I go to places like Target or Best Buy for other things, and I can't help but notice how small that section has become. Then again, when I was your age, finding music on vinyl was nearly impossible unless you went to used records stores or specialty/indie outlets. Fast forward to now, and LPs dominate the shelves with CDs taking a relative backseat.
A24 puts out amazing physical media. I'm a proud owner of quite a few of their recent offers. Well put together and worth much more than their asking price. "The Lighthouse" is especially well put together.
I just yesterday received my copy of the KL 4KUHD of Bug. The Friedkin/Letts claustrophobic psychological thriller. Incredible movie. Can't wait to see this new release.
So refreshing to watch an engaging, funny and intellectually satisfying video about collecting physical media. RUclips is awash with tedious 'unboxing videos' (how did *that* catch on?!) and people just listing films. Boring. This is more like it!
This is easily one of the best Big Picture episodes ever.
I thought the same thing. Jesus what a good guest. I think he knows it too lol. Good point about Mets fandom being a moral failure too.
Totally agree. 👍🏽
An absolute banger of an episode! Film nerds have been satiated and satisfied by the river of film knowledge that is Tracey Letts. This is what this show is all about.
That GameStop joke was an absolute banger 😂
I died laughing when he said that 😂
😂😂😂
"Plastic shit" and "looks like you live in a GameStop" will forever live on in my head.
It’s so funny and also so true 😢
Legend behavior
Sean is so happy on the thumbnail 😂😂
All time "that guy" actor TRACY LETTS!
Asking Tracy Letts if his 10,000 movies are being cooked by the sun would be the highlight of my life.
My youngest brother loved to complain about Fennessy. But he listened to most of his podcasts. He loved filmmaking and I used to smile when he complained about Sean's takes. There was a lot of love in those complaints. He passed this year yet I suspect he's loving this podcast from wherever he is.

I could easily watch Sean and Tracy each week, make a new pod all about physical media!
everyone watching this collectively realizing about 30 minutes in that we've reached the apex mountain of Big Pic guest appearances. lmfao. legendary episode.
Tracy's commitment to the Hitmaker label is very impressive lol
Tracy mentions his wife Carrie Coon a lot in this interview. Sean should interview her also. Great pod.
Tracy Letts, what a legend. As an avid 4K physical media owner myself, this was one of the greatest Big Picture eps this year.
Thanks for the shout-out! Much appreciated.
A absolute fucking awesome episode Tracy was great! I enjoyed every minute! Im dying hopefully for you do an episode maybe next year with Tracy AND Tim together and just hear yall nerd out about physical media for 2 hours
This guy could not be more pro
YESSSS!!! Totally agreed. 👍🏽
This is the coolest thing to ever happen. How can my favorite podcast get even better? This, this right here
new favorite guest
This is so good. Tracy Letts needs to be a regular guest on The Big Picture.
this was such an absolute joy of an episode - what terrific guy Letts is - so passionate and hilarious - I hope he becomes a regular guest because I could listen to him talk movies all day
sorry to Hitmaker, you've been superseded ;)
This fucking rocked unbelievably hard man. I was slightly bummed Tim wasn't on as Tracy suggested, but like 5 minutes in I was like "this might be the best episode ever" lmao unreal gas from King Tracy
Hands down favorite episode from this year
I love watching/listening to people who are passionate about anything, in this case movies, put forth what they are passionate about. This doesn't disappoint.
Winning Time had a couple actors drop the performance of a lifetime out of nowhere. This guy was one of them. Happy to hear from him.
Legit just googled the show's cast cause I was 90 percent sure it was him. Glad it was, he did put on a heck of a performance.
@ it’s a cast full of Dion Waiters’s 😂
awesome awesome interview. Love having the video. Well done Sean
This episode needs to be added to the National Archives as the best podcast episode ever presented!
I'm pausing at the 25:00 mark just to say this is wonderful conversation already and I look forward to procrastinating any and all responsibilities for remainder of this conversation.
One of the best episodes of this podcast
I just finished the audio podcast and here I am, watching it. Kind of like buying the newest version of a beloved movie to go next to the one(s) you already own.
This is the greatest niche podcast ever. Please do not stop doing what you're doing Sean.

This is honestly such a delight. Tracy is awesome.
Hey guys, California Sorcerer Bro #557 here.
Just have to say how good this episode is and when the convo got into media organization I mentally climaxed. Thank you.

Linda Vista is such a fantastic play. Tracy is one of the most exciting voices in the American theatre.
This guy is a great storyteller, great pod
This is one of my favorite podcast episodes ever. Thank you for this gift!
What a great episode.
This was one of the best episodes in the shows history, what an awesome hang Tracy is!
Utterly Effing Delightful.
An utterly amazing episode, so much fun

What a glorious conversation!
Incredible episode. Joyous chemistry
Woah, did not expect this - What an awesome guest, Tracy Letts is a legend
I love Video Producer Tracy Letts
Tracy used to be a "that guy" for me (LOVED him in "The Big Short", "Ford v Ferrari" and other stuff), but now he is definitely Tracy Letts or The King (of physical media) for me
Oh man we gotta get Queen Carrie on next time.
Absolute all-time podcast
This was a fantastic episode !
Nearly 2 hour conversation about physical media with a diversion to talk about the Mets....this is the greatest pod.
Indeed. I still prefer to buy movies, music, etc. via physical media, then convert to a digital file myself. When I saw the title, it was "whelp, to the top of the queue it goes!"
Fantastic episode. I would love to see a lot more like this.
been on an educational western binge recently, love McCabe & Mrs Miller so much even without 4k
Wonderful episode!
I have been listening to this show for years and this is the first time I have ever watched.
This rules so hard.
What a fantastic conversation!

This was an awesome conversation! Tracy's the man
Love the mention of films @ the UT Austin campus in early 80's. What a great scene - film screenings every night all over campus. Golden days.
Wow! New to this channel! What an amazing interview!😊
Tracy is one of the best modern playwrights and also one of the best nerd dudes. Wholesome and amazing in interviews - listen to his Marc Maron appearance for another great time.

I've never felt so seen by a video. This was wonderful and kind of mind blowing.
Best episode of the show. Such great discussions!
Just listened and really enjoyed this episode! Felt compelled to comment which I almost never do. Bravo!!!!
A24 puts out amazing physical media. I'm a proud owner of quite a few of their recent offers. Well put together and worth much more than their asking price. "The Lighthouse" is especially well put together.
2 minutes in and this one rocks lol
I could listen to Tracy Letts talk all day. Remarkable artist. I wish I could have seen him in Virginia Woolf on Broadway.
YES!!!!!!
Great episode! More like this, please.
YES!!!
I just yesterday received my copy of the KL 4KUHD of Bug. The Friedkin/Letts claustrophobic psychological thriller. Incredible movie. Can't wait to see this new release.
please do a bonus episode about storage/shelving - it is touched on a bit here, but is a sincere question I have never quite solved
A guest who was game to speak about his career. Made for very enjoyable listening.
i really enjoyed this one, tracy was a great guest
Such a good ep! Yearly thing I reckon!
So refreshing to watch an engaging, funny and intellectually satisfying video about collecting physical media. RUclips is awash with tedious 'unboxing videos' (how did *that* catch on?!) and people just listing films. Boring. This is more like it!
My purchase of the year is probably the 4K of classic Giallo, The Case of the Bloody Iris, from new boutique label Celluloid Dreams. Cool stuff.
Amazing episode!!!
Thank you, friends. I love to see you smile. ❤
Amazing thank you
Best ep ever wow
Tracy Letts could tell stories about being poor in Chicago forever and I'd keep listening
what a legend
Let's Do Letts!
