Look up his most recent Australian 60 Minutes interview about the OceanGate disaster. He gives glimpses of how his brain operates on a whole other level than most. Fascinating.
@astropioneer3296 yes I saw the shortened edit of that. His perspective on many things is always a joy to listen to. Intelligence and vision up the wazoo, plus he directed a couple of my favorite films.
Great interview, Gale and James are totally awesome. T1 and T2 are two of the greatest films ever made in my opinion. Unfortunately I’m still upset about Dark Fate, killing off John Connor/Edward Furlong was such a monumental mistake, that literally destroyed the Terminator franchise.
I think it would be fair to mention Mark Goldblatts editing as one of the major contributing factors to why this film has stood the test of time. Its no coincidence the man is behind some of the absolute greats of the action genre, including T2 and Robocop.
Cameron at the end talking about where AI is heading was great. So glad he brought up how crazy it is, although he didn’t say that, but that’s what he really means.
Terminator 1 is just phenomenal I watch it a few weeks back again and the sheer presence of Arnie and the atmosphere is so dense and the future is very haunting
The Terminator is a top 3 of all time for me. Absolute classic and still to this day the best Terminator film and the best Cameron film. And that won’t ever change.
Amazing insights! Exceptional talent, intelligence, work-ethic, strategy, collaboration and relationship skills. But you need all that and huge self-belief, determination to never compromise on some things, and pivot on a dime with others. Amazing!
I love long form interviews with people I enjoy especially filmmakers but I especially love the fact that this video is just talking about this movie. These two, and I mean James Cameron and Gail Hurd doing this I think is great and I love hearing these kinds of stories. I don't want to hear about their marriage I don't want to hear about Avatar or drama I just want to hear these two talk about making the Terminator and that's what this interview is all about and I couldn't give this or the interviewer more praise😊
A true workerbee. I heard he even calculated his decision on whether to take on the two projects at the same time on script page count, how many pages he could crank out per day. What an excellent engineer!
I always thought that the scene in the cop car was the same synthetic head they used for the eye shot in the mirror. This and Predator made Schwarzeneggers career, both based on scripts and direction because both had a fair bit of cheese. The most brilliant part of Terminator, besides the music and opening credits, is the line "I dont understand tech stuff". And they do away with the whole problem of explaining time travel. Imagine if Reese had said "you fly around the sun real fast..."
It’s interesting that Roger Corman said that the Terminator needed a bigger budget because he often complained about Hollywood spending he also said the same about Alien
@@southlondon86 he really enjoyed it. However he has seen much more recent blockbuster movies so probably didn't amaze him like it did me when I first watched it.
35:06 Sequence starts with how prescient Skynet was -- it's here now. "People are going to give a kill order to AI...it's inevitable... the pace of imminent drone battles will demand it"
@@verkpunkSo...I did notice that Cameron seemed coy about why exactly he recommended it, and couldn't quite articulate the reason. Then I went and watched the trailer and saw the theme. Interesting.
They need to redo many of Cameron's films on 4K, without AI and digital noise reduction. The Terminator, T2, Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies, and Titanic all need to be redone.
All of those titles are already currently available in 4K UHD. I think The Abyss was the most recent, releasing just over 8 months ago in early March 2024.
@@SpiritHawk7 I know they are available. The problem is the picture quality is BAD. I won't get into why. If you don't know by now, there is a ton of talk going on about these 4K UHD releases. And for good reason. They need to be redone.
Will there be 8K for home media anyway? The main difference between 4K and HD you can see on most displays is the HDR and the Rec2020 color range not the resolution.
Please Jim make a real third Terminator with Skynet's building, the Judgment Day and the future war until the resistance's victory and Kyle and T101 being sent in the past.
Arnold with Cameron or not was going to be a star. He was one of those people who wasn’t going to be denied. Arnold was as much brains as brawn. Infinite hustle and motivation.
37:00. Cameron thinks we're on the brink, right now, of a SkyNet scenario, and that there's nothing in place to stop it from happening. He's worried, and seems to think it's inevitable.
@DialloMoore503 It looked bad. I watched the movie on cable on my last trip to Phoenix. Ok TV in the hotel. Again it was on freaking cable and it looked better than the bluray and what I could see of the 4K. The 4K of Scorsese's Casino on the other hand is absolutely beautiful so it's not like I'm being too picky or can't tell the difference between a good and bad transfer. Save your money and buy the MGM dvd for a couple bucks instead.
Both these people are 70 years old. So sharp and full of energy. As a 48 year old it gives me hope!
Sean interviewing the big boys like it’s nothing 😂
This dude conduct himself very well, Neat interview.
Awesome to see Sean talk to some legends about an absolute game changer of a movie.
Thank you magic Johnson
James Cameron’s interviews on any subject are always a joy to listen to.
I love his blue-collar workamule sensibility.

Tech Noir club sequence + riveting adrenaline rush = pulse pounding suspense/tension. This film is a masterpiece.
Sheer terror! When that Terminator has you in its sights, you're dead!
That shot when Sarah ducks down as Arnold walks by is epic.
Big Jim's dropping pearls of wisdom my friends. Good shit pal
I wish he dropped pearls of wisdom on those 4K transfers
Cameron has amazing objectivity now, so his interviews are amazing. Gale has always been an incredible woman.
I love that Gale Anne Hurd is there too.
She's incredible
She can put aside their personal marital difficulties and talk business. She's a true pro!
I think it would be fair to mention Mark Goldblatts editing as one of the major contributing factors to why this film has stood the test of time. Its no coincidence the man is behind some of the absolute greats of the action genre, including T2 and Robocop.
Sean, when is Scorsese coming to the Ringer?
James Cameron's interviews are always as entertaining as his films.
this is the best interview in your channel so far. The discussion about AI is amazing at the end.
Wow, this was such an incredible interview! Great job Sean 👍
Good stuff! In my opinion this is one of their best movies. The mood, the story, the characters, the look of the film. Its something special.
I could listen to Cameron talk about film for hours a day. One of the best to ever do it.
Enjoying this...from my mom's basement.
😂
Quality comment right here.
Thanks for this fantastic interview. I loved every minute
This is one of the best deep dives into a brilliant film from 2 absolute legends..thanks for this...fascinating!!
Cool interview! I am so grateful Cameron & Hurd did what they did!
The Terminator is a top 3 of all time for me. Absolute classic and still to this day the best Terminator film and the best Cameron film. And that won’t ever change.
Great interview, Love it.
Great stuff! I was at the screening in LA of ‘The Terminator’ Monday night where Gale mentioned this interview was coming up.
Omg she did Aligator. I love that movie. These 2 are great together.
Indeed! Alligator is one of the most credible and terrifying "creature features" to come out of that '70s-early '80s era!
I have never clicked on something so fast.
He needs to be in complete charge of a new Terminator. No other directors. Nothing. All him like in the first two.
@@chucklos391
Word!
Sean should be interviewing every major director.
FFC for godfather @ 50?
Great conversation! 36:12 Jimmy Cams just scared the shit outa me 😂
Great interview!
Sean, this was so great to wake up to!
Great interview thanks for this.
Great interview as always Sean
Imagine not loving the big picture... ya hate to even imagine it
The Terminator is a classic and is still great.
Of course it is. It always will be.
This was amazing Sean. Good job.
Awesome interview
This is incredible!! Amazing interview. Thanks to Sean, James, and Gale!
Great interview, Sean! Bringing out the big guns!
Fascinating interview, well done.
Wooooow🎉❤ Thanks guys for this interview.
Fantastic interview!
This was really great. I could listen to them tell stories all day.
Jimbo is looking good, hope he is going ballistic with the next movie and i cant wait to see it.
Nice of Jim to take a break from his BMX race
no shade but I legit thought he was wearing future rich man clothes. incredible interview
Lmfao
The Terminator was a complete fantasy film WHEN it was made. Today in 2024/25 it might have a different angle to it.
None the less, great interview.

Great upload , James Cameron is such a nice genius guy 👌👌👌👌
As much as I love T2, T1 is my favorite.
The fact Cameron wrote Aliens and Rambo First Blood while waiting to do Terminator in 6 months is insane. What a beast.
The screenplay of Rambo 2 (Rambo First Blood Part 2).
@@HANU8 The bad one.

Well done Sean
Great interview Sean! And maybe it's time to revisit Emilie Perez?🙂
In the script, Tech Noir was called Stoker's.
Oh shit! James Cameron!😮
wow big get for the pod. Legendary Cam

I let my son watch this yesterday. We just finished T2 yesterday also.

Gale's producer creds are a Rewatchables dream list
What happened to the original negative of the Aliens? Is it going to be upscaled to 8K from the exact same source from 2010 in the future? Or...

We are so back, we never left
I think James has an idea for an epic new movie because of AI and I can't wait to watch that. Thank God! No more Avatars. I'm so EXCITED now.

Harlan Ellison?
Yawn
Harlan Ellison is one of the biggest assholes in science fiction history
Apex Mountain of interviews for Sean?
James❤
Let's go
I love James Cameron lowkey taking credit for Arnold’s entire career
And then walking it back 3 seconds later lmao
Arnold with Cameron or not was going to be a star. He was one of those people who wasn’t going to be denied. Arnold was as much brains as brawn. Infinite hustle and motivation.
Arnold is the biggest sellout of all time. Telling people to screw their freedom and take the clot shot. Such a loser
HUUUUUGE for our brutalist boy
Whats going on?! I missed like a month or two of pods
Has cameron been in New Zealand too long? He sounds different
How ya gonna get next, Sean? Orsen Welles?!
An organism is all the organs of a living being or a living being.
good to see him embracing AI VFX, Disney is about to go AI VFX soon also
Gale is a big Gooner!!
Why?
This is obviously Sean being cut and pasted into an interview conducted by somebody else earlier.
the terminator is slightly better than T2

I’m surprised Jim and Hurd didn’t take a jab at comic book movies.
LOL.
lol these two are ex spouses right?
That Bill Simmons money works wonders, I suppose lol
