The new more frequent update system means that Mojang doesn’t need to develop the update for ages but instead drip feed it into the game, so instead of one massive end updates we will get many small end updates that will do the same thing but reduce our wait time. The poisonous potato april fools update seems to have been a test run for an end update.
Nobody wants Minecraft to change that much tho it ruins the game if it changes so much from the game we love so much just get mods if you want a different game keep the vanilla game the same
I think they really have to make the end update align with the lore of the game. Every chest contents, every structure in the game serves a purpose to the lore
I think it's still coming, Mojang just is waiting for one more background focused update (like what the next one, if rumors are true is: an atmospheric update), a bunch of stuff behind the scenes was added in the last couple of updates so if they wanted to make a Caves and Cliffs sized update, but as one instead of broken up, they now can without breaking Minecraft like Batman over Bane's knee.

Just most people are on Bedrock because of the cross platform play, especially kids playing all kinds of offfical worlds and mods like Avatar, etc. I'm on Bedrock and don't consider myself a casual gamer. Bedrock has benefits I like such as not being able to earn achievements if you cheat, and some mods that are just better like animations and stuff. There's also some changes that hit Bedrock first. With that said, I think people don't even know the end exists. My 5 year old daughter does because she loves MC, plays with me, and watches YT videos about it, but hardly any of her friends know about it. I am saying thing because I think people who actually play MC as a main game or a lot, know about it, and seek to grow into the content. For those people, Bedrock or Java, everyone wants something beyond getting overpowered Elytra that nerfs the entire world for you. I'd argue the Overworld also needs more stuff added as that feeling of exploration is gone when there's really nothing that is going to be better than what you have besides building material you can only get from certain biomes. But, what if you had certain gear you NEEDED to even survive in the harsh climates of certain biomes? What if there was certain materials you need from these biomes to even get certain mobs to drop certain items, that then lead to new types of builds or challenges? I think it's not just about The End. I think the entire game needs a better end game that isn't just about building.
Theory: Everyone knows GTA 6 will be a heavy hitter when it drops. Some speculate itll eliminate most of the competition. Would be smart if mojang had there biggest drop around GTA 6 release date. Hence, The End update.

I can’t be the only one thinking an end update is necessary. Like the boss fight that you have to do to complete the game is easier than going to the nether to get to the boss fight.
I hope so, because the community is filled to the brim with greed after the large updates that happened, and the End isn't even needed to be updated because if it is updated with more stuff, the literal freedom and openness of the dimension would end and there wouldn't be any open place where we are not interrupted by blocks and enemies or mobs.

Nah i dont believe your right i think majority of the people who play Minecraft have beat the ender dragon. I wouldnt even consider myself a huge Minecraft player ill play for a few weeks a year. And most of the people i play with too are in the same boat

Also the end being barren and lonely doesn't necessitate that it is devoid of content, there are plenty of biomes in the overworld and nether that are both barren and worth seeking out (soulsand valley, badlands, desert, etc.). One way you can do this is through structures hinting at it's former glory, or you could have decaying or petrified forests that have lost their vitality, and despite many material benefits and visual beauty at times, it is still ultimately cold, dark, and lonely.
this argument is so tired. yes the end is supposed to be a barren wasteland but that doesn’t mean it has to be a BORING wasteland. it can still have different biomes, structures, and mobs that still match with the theme

I heard that they are 2 teams, one of them is working on the drops and the other team is working on the yearly bug update.
A rock and crystal type biome would fit way more then those’s mods where people just add boring plants it just doesn’t fit the end
