Forgot to mention that although procreate isn't made for drawing comics like Clip Studio app the good thing about the app is that you only have to buy once and drawing on it feels super smooth :D The tools aren't optimal for comic creation, but it's not annoying either and is good enough. I recommend checking out Clip Studio Paint app if you want an app that's more professional and has more tools. Personally I prefers the simple interface of Procreate!
@@coffeetime1001 not to mention, is someone who makes Manga using Procreate, it’s really not that big of an effort to make manga panels, especially when you are using sheep control, such as monoline brushes or you manually make it so that all your brushes are shaved control. I generally speaking wouldn’t advise you use sheep control, depending on what you’re drawing, I like my drawings to look more organic personally, but when I’m making a more structured shape, such as manga panels rather than the nuanced curvature and shape Venus of the human body for example, as well as the clothing on that persons body, but if there is a table in the image for example, I might be a bit more structured with how it’s drawn. Even more so with the panels, because it can make things a little noisy if the lines aren’t perfectly straight. So anyways I like to use the monoline brush, since it automatically has shape control in it, plus if you hold it down, it will become a straight line, and then a thing will pop up from the top of the screen asking if you would like to change its shape. You use that to adjusted to be just the right length and position on the page, which is how I make all four sides of each of my panels. I also like to use drawing guide for this, the default one at that, as it’s a square grid. It’s hopeful because you can make a more square, perfectly square shape for your panels , without any accidental sweating or angling in the panel. If traditional manga artists can do without having even the advanced programming of procreate brushes, and can just live with pencils, pens, paper, erasers and rulers, I think we can do. I understand why they added those other features to programs like clip studio paint and such , because Innoway it can make things more streamlined, but again if mangaka of the past were able to make do with less than what we have in Procreate, I think we’re pretty blessed with what we have in Procreate, so therefore I think it’s still a pretty good medium for making Manga
For those who want an app that’s made for comic creation but don’t wanna spend money on Clip (which have been very shady with their new subscription service recently…), I can’t recommend Medibang Paint enough! It has TONS of features and is available for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac
You recommended good notes in one of your other videos, and so I'll forever watch any of your new videos because that app has been so important this semester.
This was super helpful and I finally figured out how to get the fonts I wanted because of this ;; thank you so much!! I loved your voice and humor too ☺️
I've tried making one in procreate and it's super fun! I should make another one this year since that was from last year. I love the new page asset though and I have the same method for outlines! 😂
For outlines I found duplicating a layer, switching it to white, then using ‘bloom’ instead of Gaussian blur looks better. (Set all bloom settings to max. And then set the size to around 10%)
I would love to use these skills, the sad thing is I’m terrible at making stories, I’m ok a making characters but they just come to me when I think of things and definitely need more thinking afterwards, but definitely saving this video for one hopeful day
Thanks so much for this! I have some old comics with my Ocs I’m redrawing updating. I have had procreate for a while but didn’t know how to make the boxes neat really. Thank goodness for this video! I’m hoping that they update procreate features where it can be at minimum 125 layers. I can’t stand when it’s 40 lol.
hello! very useful info, but I think that Procreate do have a way to add an outline to the text, so you can duplicate the text layer and simple change the color from the duplicate to white or black, just play a little bit with it and it woudl be make the same result! I'm almost sure it works that way because I always use it for my signature jeje... :)
I like the way you explain things 😆 I hope you will make this into a series and make more videos on how to create manga in Procreate. I would love a more in-depth look at screentoning in Procreate. Also, I’m interested in learning more about how to create written English sound effects using Procreate.
Ty so much your video help me sooooo much by any chance ... Is it possible you can explain more about the perspective lines you use on this video i tried to use the same u do like the manga expressions when around de box is going to the center but I couldn't do it
I live in Detroit. I really wish a comic artist using procreate could come into my home and tutor me. I can illustrate, I just can’t lucking get started on my procreate. Very frustrating.
That' a nice tutorial! When you create panels with the drawing guide, how do you make straight diagonal lines? The guide seems to be only for vertical and horizontal lines
I think this was a really good tutorial. I know it's been a few years since this video, but it helps me think about how procreate can help rather than paying for clip on there (which in the past I have done.) Since I don't have money to throw around at the moment, I wanna try it. I have procreate and been using it and it is really easy to learn and get use to. Thanks for the tips and will give it a shot. :3
If I wanna print and publish my manga with the page size you suggested, would it print out properly or will there be some cut off? Is this just for digital manga only?
I have one question. You know those panels that has the same scene but there’s that one character or thing that moves, but the rest doesn’t. I know you duplicate it but the moment you move it the drawing blurs… how do we fix that?

What Procreate brushes do u use for line art
Sorry I’m dum I didn’t realise u said
Totally agree on how simple the interface is on Procreate. Clip Studio is overwhelming and ibis Paint's canvas max size is a joke.

Oh my god tysm. Your video was the only explanation I understood. Love your art!
You got 280k suna thats alot
Just recently got procreate. This was very useful, thank you!
Best tutorial I have seen all week!!
If you make your canvas a certain size, it will give you way more layers. That’s what I do and thank you for the tips!!
Thanks for the tip! I keep on running out of layers, and it’s really been bugging me! I do really love the app, though!

think about haikyuu and how stupid it sounds but how good the story is you can make anything you want
This is late but I have the opposite problem. An entire story made but new at procreate / illustrating
Listen to music albums while you make the story and it'll flow much easier

That' a nice tutorial! When you create panels with the drawing guide, how do you make straight diagonal lines? The guide seems to be only for vertical and horizontal lines
i dont know of a trick for this, so if it were me, i would create a new layer, draw a straight line, then rotate/move the line to fit my need.

I got a question, how do we ink the characters hairs? 😭 I’m trying to find it since a long time…
I wish I could make an awesome manga or anime but I can’t draw the eyes much less the head
