Thank you so so much for this. Figuring out the canvas sizes on procreate and then cropping to the very specific sizes of webtoon requirements can be so painful, that croppy site looks really helpful and this whole tutorial was great, thanks!
all I have to say is THANK YOU, you gave me the impetus I needed, I wasn't sure I was going to make a story but thank you very much for taking the time to teach us❤️
It was cool to see your process! Your thumbnail technique looked like a great way of doing that part of the process. I’m using Procreate too, and loving it. Since you asked people to share their comics, I’ll add that I just started my own series on Webtoon, “Airilune’s Light”. Oh a just a quick note if your have the issue a 6:17 here’s how your fix that! Simply draw a line around the edges of your panel, you won’t see this line because it’s outside of the square but you can still fill in your reference layer. Hopefully that helps someone!
Hi!! I just wanted to let you know how much this honestly improved my way of making my webtoon! Something that was once so complicated and alot more tedious to do on procreate is so much more easier! Thank you so so much for taking the time to make this video and explain it in a way thats easier to understand and do. You really helped so many people with this!
My guy this is probably one of the more helpful videos I’ve ever watched of how to properly make a comic for WEBTOON thank you so much I could probably do this Correctly now

Still in the process of regaining my art skills after I had a super long art burnout / block but I do want to create WEBTOONs someday and I want to start playing around with it on Procreate 😊 Also your art style is super cute and I’m going to check out your comics 😍
For speech bubbles- they can be perfectly rounded if you hold down. Alternatively you can make an outline brush (there are tutorials on RUclips), have it in your outline colour, set that layer to reference, make a new layer under it and fill with whatever colour you want for speech bubble. It stays like that when you merge it too
Hey, this was really helpful, thank you for making this video! I used to make a web toon called secret identity shorts but I’ve been wanting to make an ‘endless scroll’ style web toon for some time! Now that I have Procreate I’m gonna try this out! Your video was very clear to understand, nice work! ^^
Thank you for the Croppy info. I've been wanting to do larger canvas size for drawing my comic, but couldn't figure out how to make it fit for Webtoon sizing! This is great. It's called The Daily Friday if interested.
What DPI do you use in procreate? My hardest struggle with uploading procreate onto webtoons is that the pictures sometimes come out blurry on WEBTOON.
This was so helpful! I’m making a Webtoon that I plan to make really long, this video will help me a lot because I don’t have a computer to use more professional art apps. The only resource I have is Procreate!
oh god, this video was SO helpful! thank you so much! and aahhh, I totally share your frustration with word bubbling in procreate. I miss you so much, CPS... T^T
Gonna try this out. I’ve made my comic bits but they didn’t come out as crisp, they look messy, so I’m thinking maybe I’m using the wrong dimensions. Thank you
I have an important question. I am doing a graphic novel but I can draw digitally, but not color, so I would like to pay someone to color. Where do I find painters and, since I haven't "patented" my work yet because I haven't finished it yet, can they just steal my work for themselves since they will have access to all the pages? Pls someone help me😢
I recommend learning to paint digitally as the internet is a sketchy place, although it may set you back a few months it will be worth it in the end. Hope that helps!
Great video! Even though I don't use procreate I enjoy comparing workflows and Croppy sounds like a great resource. I'm definitely going to try it out for my own comic, Witchcraft and Wolfsbane.
I’ve had an idea for a webtoon but idk if it will be good 😭😭 I wanted to do a story or a fairy who gets summoned by a magical Dreamcatcher. The main girl goes to a garage sale one day and sees the dreamcatcher and buys it and at night when the wind made it ring the fairy appears, confused. So pretty much it’s the story of two girls, one of them a fairy, and the webtoon is about their adventures together and the human girl has to help the fairy defeat the evil that is attacking the fairy’s world
Hi! I’ve been working on a webtoon but no one uses procreate so I thought I’d have to get a completely new program to pay for- thank you for posting this!
Fellow Webtoon creator using Procreate, here! This video is really helpful, and it was interesting to watch your process given that you draw them directly in a vertical format. I make mine as standard comic pages first, then adapt them to vertical, so my workflow looks very different. (My comic is called Blue Star Rebellion.) I'm also considering switching to Clip Studio though, and I'm curious about how that change went for you? I'm so attached to my brushes on Procreate. They're custom made, I've been tweaking them for years, and they're perfect for my painting and shading style. The thought of sinking hours into fiddling with settings on Clip to create a brush which responds the same way as my 'oilyblob' is... not something I relish. To put it mildly. I'm also curious about how Clip responds on an iPad Pro, if that's what you're using? The lack of lag on Procreate is just magical.
Clip studio paint has a free trial version on ipad that you can try out! I personally found it to be too cluttered for the small iPad screen, it was a bit laggy, and I didn't want to pay the monthly fee, so I got the desktop version instead. I definitely prefer my procreate brushes, but I've also spent like 3 years using procreate and only 3 months using clips studio paint. The time saved was worth the trade off for me (and it took me a couple months before it actually saved me any time because I needed to learn the program) but I recommend you try the trial version and decide for yourself!
I used to make my webtoon on procreate but the max canvas size is too small for me. I like to work HELLA big so that the quality is the best it could be and on procreate the quality ends up being a bit tacky. So, I recently switched to Clip Studio even though I HATE drawing there cuz it’s really difficult for me. I’m forcing myself to learn it just so I could get better quality and stuff. And honestly, it’s not as bad as I thought! I use a canvas that’s about 1560x19990 pixels, so yeah, I work really big. On procreate I used to use a 1000x10440 pixels canvas which was unfortunately too pixelated. All in all, Procreate is AMAZING for creating comics and so easy to use. But, for me I’ll keep it for illustrations since the canvas isn’t as big as I like it to be. Other than the canvas size, it’s a really good app for making your webcomic! :))
This is so helpful. I was debating if I should use medibang over procreate. I'm still trying to see which fits my work flow more. This video helps me with some of the issues I faced in procreate that made my drawing process long for my webtoon.
