  • Hello, my Friends!
    I uploaded this Webtoon tutorial video a couple of weeks ago but there was a problem with it so I took it down.
    I made this tutorial video to help out new Webtoon creators or individuals who want to be a Webtoon creator. I had a hard time finding out how to start, where to begin, how to navigate Procreate, Webtoon, and just use my resources. So, hopefully this video helps you out with the bare minimum.
    If there's anything else you'd like to know or are interested in, in regards to Webtoon or Procreate, I'd love to help so just let me know down in the comments below.
    I hope you enjoyed this week's video and I hope to see you next week on Saturday. Thank you!!

    Just a small piece of info, when drawing your squares or any shape for that matter, if you hold it with the pencil it fixes the shape making it cleaner (which you already knew lol) "BUT" if you hold it with the pencil and tap the screen with your finger while still holding the shape it gives the absolute shape. (Meaning it'll be a perfect square, triangle, circle, rectangle etc.) This may save you a little more time from actually having to edit fix it yourself. Hope this is helpful 😊

    Thanks for the tutorial. I really want to try to do webtoon, I have twenty years of stories written and sketched only to myself, now I need to share, but I really can't decide between Clip Studio Paint (for iPad it is a pain in the butt) and Procreate. I think that CSP vector layers and Story Editors are very important to manage a complex story. But Procreate is so intuitive and smart...

      Of course!!
      I understand the need to share- it’s a MUST!
      Also, if you’re not sure- I’d recommend Procreate, because CPS is just so advanced 🤣😭 It’s easier to navigate, it’s like $5 or $10, and later you can always transition to using CPS!

    You show how you use the 800x5120 (full size) but what do you use the 800c1280(1 frame) for? Either draw the panel separately and then add them into the full size or were you just what is a 1 frame size like?

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад +2

      You're right:D The regular size is 800x1280, so I wanted to show what the regular size of a frame is.
      I use the size "800x5120" so that I can draw several panels in one canvas. :)
      When I upload the "800x5120" onto Webtoon- Webtoon will split the canvas into "800x1280" frames because that's the normal size.
      I hope this helps and thanks for asking! 😁🤍✨

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад +2

      Hi! Thank you very much! :) The key to not getting it pixelated is to not readjust the size or angle! As long as I copy and paste, and then just move over the whole eye- it won’t get blurry. If I make it smaller or bigger or try to fix it with the warp tool, then it gets pixelated! I hope this helps! 🥰

    Ok, I’m a tad bit slow, so I have a silly question about the dimensions of the canvas. I hope it wasn’t already explained in the video because then I’d feel extra slow, but here it goes… So each frame is 800 x 1280. Do I always have to set the dimension of the canvas as 800 x 5120, or could I do 800 x (#frames)1280 if I wanted more than four frames? Or is four frames the maximum amount I can do? Or should I upload multiple canvases for more frames? Or is more than four frames super excessively long for a WEBTOON? Sorry that was more than one question and I hope I worded it coherently. Not sure what I’m doing. Thank you sooooo much for the video by the way-it was much appreciated and very helpful!!

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  11 месяцев назад +1

      No, no you’re totally fine! I didn’t really explain that in the video because I was only showing how I did it. However, I did end up multiplying 800 x (wanted # of frames) 1280. I currently have a 12 frame canvas, which I think is the largest you can do using 800 as the width.
      Your Webtoon can be as long or as short as you want it to be! I’ve uploaded 6 of the 800x16384 px canvases at once (I believe that’s the length for 12 frames) on Webtoon and it works!

    Hi, thanks for sharing valuable information ❤
    Can the layers be saved separately like a .riff file format? I'm new to procreate, so i worry about all layers merger, and me not being able to revisit and redo any errors later .
    Thanks again

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад

      Hi and you're very welcome! :)) Unfortunately, I have never used riff format before, so I can say for certain.
      However, I tend to just keep several separate layers so that way I don't have to worry about layers merging and not being able to change it later.
      What you could do is: Open your layers, select a layer you want to save and drag it out of that current canvas that you're working on.
      That would save a specific layer, but also keep your artwork the same. So dragging the layer out should not remove it from the canvas you were working on.
      Or you could save it as a Procreate file? I did this when I was transferring my art to another device and it kept all my layers separated as it was.
      Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but I hope this helps! Please let me know if it doesn't! 🤍🤍🤍

    Lorsque j'utile le format webtoon sur procreate mes dessins sont très pixelisés et flous, est ce normal ?

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  2 месяца назад

      Ce n’est pas vraiment normal, mais cela arrive ! Je recommande d’augmenter la taille de votre format webtoon !
      Si vous utilisez la taille normale de 800 x 1280 pixels, le résultat peut être plus pixellisé et la qualité n’est pas aussi bonne. C’était comme ça pour moi aussi.
      J’ai donc augmenté la taille à 1600 x 2560 pixels ! C’est 2X plus grand, ce qui améliore la qualité.
      Le seul problème est que vous avez moins de calques à utiliser et la taille du fichier est plus grande !
      faites-moi savoir si cela aide!! :)🥰🤍
      In English:
      It’s not really normal, but it definitely happens! I recommend increasing the size of your webtoon format!!
      If you use the regular 800x1280 pixel size- it can turn out more pixelated and the quality is not as good. That’s what it used to be like for me as well.
      So, I increased the size to 1600x2560 pixels! It’s 2X larger which makes the quality better.
      The only issue is that you have less layers to use and the file size is bigger!

      HI! 🤍 I actually make my own custom brushes! ✨ However, if your brushes look super pixelated, I'd recommend increasing the DPI of your canvas or increasing the dimensions of it. :)) I had trouble with the pixilation until recently and I think that the canvas is probably the main issue.

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад

      Hi! When you enter the Procreate app, there's a + at the top right corner. Click on it.
      There will be a lot of canvas options that show up, but at the very right corner of the pop-up---> there will be another + but inside of a rectangular shape. If you click on that, it should open up to a new custom canvas. You can adjust that to the size that you want. :))
      I hope this helps! 🤍🫶✨

      OH. I'm not sure exactly how I started it, but as long as you have an account on Webtoon- you should be able to create a Webtoon:)
      On the top right of the screen (hover over your username), click "Dashboard", and then click the grey "Create Series" button.
      Also, it can only be done on a computer/laptop! The only thing you can do on the app is respond to comments and post on your creator profile;) I hope this helps! (if not, def. let me know lol)

    I need help:( i tried 10 times putting vertical thumbnail but, it keeps saying too much kb or like too small

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад +1

      Honestly, Webtoon has very strange requirements for the dimensions of the art. :// I've had issues with the size and dimensions of the Episode Thumbnails at one point. However, the dimension for the vertical thumbnail should be 1080 x 1920 pixels!
      As long as the resolution isn't over 700 KB, it should be fine. 🤔
      What I do sometimes, if I REALLY cannot get the thumbnail uploaded (because it's too small or big) is:
      Download- "Photo Compress" on my iPad.
      This app lets me decrease the quality of the art so that the file size can fit Webtoon's thumbnail requirements.
      TIP: It's always better to have HIGHER quality when you make the art rather than LOWER quality, because you can't really go from low quality to high. However, you can go from high to low.
      I really hope this makes sense and that I didn't just totally BOMBOARD you with useless information lol. Let me know if this helps!!!

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад

      OOHHH I think I understand what you’re talking about.
      So, the reference tool allows you to use a reference for your drawing. There are 3 options for the reference which are: Canvas, Image, Face.
      The one I usually use to show an image in my photo gallery as a reference is the Image option.
      The Canvas option shows you the canvas you’re currently working on as the reference.
      I used the Crop and Resize tool form the tools tab- I cropped the canvas to get my Webtoon thumbnail (436x436 pixels) and it’s automatically changed my reference to the canvas image. So, I didn’t use the reference as my thumbnail. I cropped my canvas for my thumbnail and the reference just showed me my canvas.
      Does that make sense?

    • @duchessart
      @duchessart  Год назад

      If you watch at 11:13, you’ll see that the reference is already showing me my canvas, so when I cropped it- it showed my the thumbnail I had cropped as well:)
