My eight-year-old requested fondant on his cake for his birthday because he loves the taste. This is my first time making it and my 10-year-old daughter and I just watched the video and followed along. Super easy! Thanks so much.
The shortening is just to keep the fondant from sticking to the bowl and beaters. You could skip using it all together. Or I would use just a little coconut oil if you need to.
Hi thanks for the video. I think I put powder sugar. It's really thick. It's there any way I can lessen the thickness a bit?. I have it in my fridge now
I haven't made a batch for a bit. I would estimate 10 mins or so. Add the powdered sugar a cup at a time mixing it well between them for the first 3 cups. Then add half a cup at a time til it's consistency is what you want.

The color does darken after you let it sit a day wrapped up
Did you sift the powdered sugar before you added it?
No I didn't. I have never had a problem with not sifting it. But it won't hurt if u want to do it or if the powdered sugar is a bit clumpy.
Can i use coconut oil or any kind of other veggie oil to replace the shortening?

Are you from Pittsburgh ? You have a Pittsburgh accent.

If its too stiff you can work a little water into it to soften it up.
@@davidandniko3428 thanks. Will give it a try
How long did it take in the mixer

No No No!!! You aren't suppose to refrigerate it!
I saw others where they say leave at room temperature
