  • As a beginner, I started making my fondant cakes with this recipe. Eventually I improved it time to time leading me in the discovery of "THE MOST FLEXIBLE FONDANT RECIPE" as posted here on my RUclips Channel. I teach that recipe on my hands-on WORKSHOPS here in the Philippines. At the moment, I stopped doing workshops and start focusing on making RUclips video tutorials. (NO WORKSHOP SCHEDULES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)

    Wow! What patience, time, skill, but most of all what FUN! Sometimes people forget that with fondant you do not pipe from a bag and a tip that gives you an immediate beautiful design. No, you have to form and design every single little piece of fascinating beauty! Whether it be something as simple as a ball, or something as intricate as a tiny musical instrument! And you have to have an eye for real detail. I love it all! It is like playing with play-Doh except for people really will admire your work. You don't have to destroy it before you go to bed and mom gave you her "sincere" words like, "oh, honey, that's so beautiful! What do you call that?" Then smash, back into the container until another rainy day! Anyone who can relate? In all honesty, you are so talented and I enjoyed watching this video and taking LOTS of notes! Thanks and God bless...

    Thank you guys so much for watching this video. I hope you find this helpful especially for beginners. I was once a beginner too.
    You see, I intentionally did not write the recipe in the description box because I want you to pay attention into the video. Every minute, every second, is worth watching up to the last minute.
    Customized cakes, are very intricate. As a Cake artist you need to pay attention to details. Same as to watching this video. I had put as many tips possible but I know there are still a lot of questions about fondant.
    Comment down below your question. I will soon be making a video answering them.

    Thank you for your wonderful video. Why do you put cornstarch down on your mat at times and shortening down at other times? How are the applications different?

      You're welcome. Thank you too. I must say that you have a very good observation. :)
      CORNSTARCH VS SHORTENING
      When working with fondant, generally I apply it both when fondant seems to be sticking in my hands. The only difference is that when your fondant is exposed to air, it tends to dry up quickly - that is the time that I use shortening as a moistening agent. On the other hand, when fondant is too soft to handle I dust a little bit of cornstarch to help it dry up. Just note that putting too much cornstarch may dry up your fondant quickly leading it to "elephant skin". Working with fondant can be really tricky, but it's worth it. :)

    Thank you very much for this video. I have one question, using the measurements you used how big a cake does it cover?

    • @DonnaliciousBakeshopManila
      @DonnaliciousBakeshopManila  3 года назад +16

      The whole recipe measures about 900g. It depends on how thick / thin you cover your cake.
      Here's my own measurement per cake size:
      6x4 / 300-350g
      8x4 / 450-500g
      10x4 / 600-700g
      You're welcome, thank you for watching my video. ❤️
