Hi from France ! Thank you so much for your videos : I learn a lot of things, because you explain them so well ; and I especially enjoy your enthusiasm !
This recipe looks so easy and doable, thank you! Just a question on corn syrup. Do we not need to add this? Thought it makes it pliable. Its great if we don't really need this. Not sure how it effect taste
Hi MK, Thanks for another great informative video. I will be sharing this with my cake making friends. I love that this fondant is easy to work with and holds well. The fact it can also be used as a modelling clay is awesome. I like your tip about using shortening on your hands to stop the fondant from sticking to you. You must have the best moisturised hands in NZ!
Wow this is so amazing thank you so much for this vedio I will definitely try it. ❤️❤️❤️. And other thing I like the way you explain it's so clear keep it up MK
Superb and a complete video 101! Even a novice like me well- understood. And my fondant has come really good. Thanks a ton🙏 Loads of love and blessings ❤️
Happy Tuesday MK , I'm watching from Guyana in South America, I love your videos, they are the best , the end result is always excellent. Can you please share the ingredients in ounces as well, I'm not so good with the grams measurements.😊😊 Excellent teacher.
I looked a lot for this recipe. But in most of they recipe they used corn or glucose syrup... And this recipe looks quite easy and tasty.....thank u mam for this recipe😘😘😘😘😘😘❤❤❤
Love this one question is this easy for folks with weak arms and can it be halved ? And does one store it in the refrigerator or room temperature? Thanks 😊 @cakesbyMk
Hi. I love the way you explain the recipes. Awesome recipes. Please can you teach us different ways and techniques of writing special messages like ‘ Happy Birthday’ etc. by using fondant and chocolate 😊🙏🏻
Thanks for you insightful recipes they are so helpful. I have a question regarding how to get this fondant icing coloured with intensity. I saw you heated your buttercream tutorial to achieve this with heating in the microwave can you do the same with the fondant icing?
Hi MK, can I use this fondant over cream cheese crumb cake or I of to use the butter cream instead. My daughter will be getting married and I will be making her wedding cake but she wants cream cheese frosting which I think will not hold in hot temperature. I was thinking of filling with cream cheese and Crumb cake with it. Do you think that's a good ideas. She lives in NC.
Hello Mariam, thanks so much for sharing this recipe. I tried preparing it n got distracted along the way and forgot to add the water. Will it affect my fondant, I jus placed it in the refrigerator
Hi there! If the texture feels okay then it should be okay :) if you live in a humid climate then the water isn't as crucial. If it feels a little too stiff/crumbly once it comes to room temp then you can add a little shortening when you re-knead it to smooth it out :)
Hi there! Yes you can :) and fondant toppers should be not be kept in the fridge as this may cause them to melt when you take them out :) the best thing is to make them and then leave them in a cool dry place to dry. Any condensation on a cake or fondant will be because the change in temp when taking it out of the fridge is too drastic. To prevent this you can take your cake out of the fridge into a temperature controlled room so that it's not too hot :)
I love all your videos. It's very informative and I learn alot . One quick question, what can we substitute the Marshmallow with? I am unable to use the marshmallow as it contains gelatine. And I don't take gelatine 😉. Thanking u in advance
Thanks Anu! :) And hmmmm good question! I don't think you can substitute the marshmallows in this recipe unfortunately, but I will keep a non gelatine fondant recipe in mind for future videos :)
You're welcome! And sure I have a non-marshmallow fondant recipe in the works so as soon as I've got something I'll be sure to share it with you guys :)
Hey MK! I can’t wait to try this out soon. I was wondering, do you think this would work well as a base for mirror glaze, provided the cake with fondant chills in the fridge? Would love to know your thoughts!
Hi there! :) Hmmm I don't think this will work well for a mirror glaze as the moisture in the glaze may cause the fondant to disintegrate. You want to keep fondant away from moisture as much as possible, so adding a wet substance on top may not be the best thing! I would recommend using a buttercream or pouring the glaze over a mousse cake :)
I used to make marshmallow fondant a LONG time ago lol. Me and fondant aren't really friends. I try, but it just doesn't like me for some reason. 😅😅 do you know if there would be a difference using halal marshmallows? Would I just substitute for equal amounts? I really want to try this again. I'm tired of spending so much on fondant and it always cracking on me 🙈
Haha awww I never really used to like fondant either but this one is super easy to make and use! And yes just substitute for equal amounts. I'm using halal marshmallows in this video and they mostly have the same ingredients as non-halal versions so it will be fine :)
Hi MK, thanks for the great recipe, have always wanted to make fondant. Where do you get your white marshmallows from? Haven't been able to fine while ones that are halal here in NZ. Please do let me know, thanks!💜
My first attempt was a failure. When I added the marshmallow to the sifted icing sugar I ended up with lots of tiny lumps. Any suggestions on what I did wrong 😑 You made it look so easy.
Hi Jean! Sorry to hear it didn't quite work out! It sounds like you may have too much icing sugar which is causing the little lumps. Try reducing the icing sugar quantity and remember to keep kneading until it comes together (it will be crumbly at first but will slowly come together). If you find that it's a bit too sticky because of the reduced icing sugar quantity, then you can simply add in more icing sugar :)
Hi sister Assalamualaikum warahmathullahi wabarakathuhu. Can I use normal powder (not icing sugar) sugar , liquid glucose, glycerin and gelatin ? . Plz rply mam
Wassalaam! :) Hmmm I'm not so sure with that many substitutions sorry! It'll be better to find a recipe without marshmallows. Also I don't believe you can use regular sugar when making fondant :)
Hi Kimberly! If you stay in a hot climate then you may get some condensation, but this will go away as you knead the fondant. If it's a little sticky as you're kneading it, you can just add some more icing sugar. Keeping it in the fridge is only for storage purposes, but once the fondant is on a cake then you should try and keep it out of the fridge :)
Hi there! Yes you can still use that method (I usually put a cake card under the cake which makes it easier to flip over), or there is also another method you can use where you don't have to flip the cake over. Hope to have a tutorial up on this in the near future :)
Good question! You should be able to as it will have some kind of gelling agent in it such as agar agar which will replace the gelatine. Would love to hear how you go if you try it out! :)
Hi there! I'm not sure how many layers that would be as I don't usually work in kgs, but it will be enough to cover a 6 inch 4 layer cake or 8 inch 3 layer cake :)
Omg some of the comments are so ridiculously crazy 😂. She has shared a recipe if you want another type of fondant recipe then search for that type. Don't ask for ridiculous substitutes 😂. If u not happy with the recipe then move on and find another 😂. Also you have so much patients M.K to reply to some of these msg
Hi Zainab! Good question! So gelatine can also be made from beef, so in many places around the world you can also find halal gelatine which is made from beef. The marshmallows I'm using in this video are made from beef gelatine and are halal :)
Hello MK. This is a really great tutorial video! Faithful to your standards. You are so good at explaining everything.

Does anyone know if you can use coconut oil in place of shortening when kneading the fondant? I don’t have any shortening on hand. TIA!
