Thank you so much Maia that really means a lot :) much love from New Zealand to South Africa!
@@CakesbyMK Thank you 🤗
Excellent….after looking at edible glitter at the local cake decorating store and finding it was $12.00 for a tiny jar only about an inch wide and half inch tall ( and only half full !) I decided to go without …now I can make every colour I can dream of 🥰
Wow…I’m not often amazed anymore…been around a long time, seen lots of stuff…
I’m genuinely floored right now.
Thank you, superb video!
Haha I know right! Such a cool technique :)
Looks fabulous. One question - when the glitter is on the cake will the moisture from the cake affect the glitter being that it is cornflour and water (just that you mentioned any moisture in the grinder will affect it).
Yep, I wondered the same thing. Definitely gonna try this out!
Hi Wendy! Great question :) answer is nope the moisture from the cake won't affect the glitter that's been sprinkled on it and the shine will remain! I've tested this out myself on soft buttercream and it works great. When it comes to the grinder, its more that you're putting the cornflour paper under an intense amount of pressure and if there are any droplets of water this will kind of very forcefully emulsify the paper and moisture together as your whizzing it and this is what may cause it to have little clumps. Hope that made sense :)
@@CakesbyMK thank you so much. I love your channel. 🥰
It's not a goldy color it's a bright a** beautiful yellow💛💛 (my favorite color)
Corn flour or corn starch ? Plz
I just discovered you recently and love, love, love your channel.
I told my sisters and girlfriends about you.
I've learned so much from you than I had in years.
You're adorable, thorough, talented and it's very easy to follow your directions.
Thank you for all that you do behind the scenes and sharing your ideas and talent with us.
🙂
Aww thank you so much Lisa! So happy to hear you're enjoying the videos and really appreciate the support :D
This is amazing! I was about to buy little 10g glitter for $8 here in AUS, but I can just make my own! Thank you!
This is great! An huge help in the budget department, too! Thank you so much! Love your videos!
I was wondering how long it will keep for , it looks totally awesome, so sparling, cant wait to try it myself, thanks for sharing ❤
You literally solved my problem. In my country this colour dust is so expensive cuz it is being imported. Now I can make it at home with just 2 ingredients. Thank you
The acetate sheet is really important to give the shine... My brain is tryin to work out to to decrease drying time, and increase shine.
I propose, using two sheets of acetate. Spread the cornflour mix over one sheet, put the other sheet on top, and gently rub so the mix adheres to the second sheet too. Gently pull them apart, leaving a very thin layer on both sheets. Let it dry. This should give double the shine, and reduce drying time as the mixture is twice as thin.
That sounds like a really good idea! Would love to know how you go if you try it out :D
Does it work on cling wrap?
I'm wondering whether glass would work...
A few questions:
1. What type of grinder do you use? Where did you get it from and how much was it?
2. Would moisture from the cake affect the glitter? I mainly do buttercream covered cakes so would it stay as glitter because you said that moisture from the grinder would affect the glitter?
Hi there! I used a Breville coffee and spice grinder which is about $60 here in NZ :) and to answer your second question, nope the moisture from the cake won't affect the glitter that's been sprinkled on it and the shine will remain!
Thank you so very much. 🍥🎂🍥 I cant wait to give this a try. Be blessed with good health and happiness.
Hi Thank you for the vid. Can we use cornstarch? Here in CA cornstarch and corn flour are different thing? also can we use wax paper instead of the acetate? thank you so much. Great help!
Beautiful and easy to make I will definitely make it from now for my cakes 😘😘
I’ve only seen this done with gelatin, how cool to have the cornstarch option!
Shukran my sister. May Allah always protect and guide you to make more and more easy tutorials for us..
Hi MK, further to seeing this I did a demo at a cake decorating club and the ladies thought it was awesome. Thanks again 🥰
Wow, this is incredible MK! I kept waiting for you to add sugar and there isn't any!!! Love this and can't wait to make some, thank you so much! 💗
Thanks so much Sheri! I love this technique too! :)
That's amazing idea and so healthy... Thank you very much dear😍😘
Wow, I know I'm late here but have to say this was a fabulous lesson. Thank you for sharing 😇🙌
OMG my mind is BLOWN!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing! Will they stay glittery even when stuck to a cake (I'm a bit worried that the humidity might make them soggy again? I usually use water to stick glitter rather than edible glue...). Thanks again!
I am absolutely amazed! Never knew it was so easy to make edible glitter. Thank you so much!
Good and easy recipe....❤ Thank u mam🤗❤❤❤❤❤
Love this idea. Difficult to find affordable glitter here in Vietnam. Usually just expensive imported products available. Thank so much.
I am OBSESSED with your channel! Thank you soooo much!
Any thoughts about drying in a dehydrator to decrease the time? I’m a cookier and happen to come across your video♥️. I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve made my own colored sanding sugar-😊
I want to know if can be useful for nails? I Mean, apply glitter and then nail polish. Will it still shine if I apply nail gloss afterwards?
This is wonderful, thank you for sharing. I will have to give this recipe a go some time.
Wish you all the best !!
Did you try it. How did it go.
This is awesome! And so useful 😃 thank you for another great video ☺️
Thank you so much so glad to hear you enjoyed the video :D
Wow! I never thought that’s how you make edible glitter 👍🏻😊 thank you MK you are amazing!
Another great idea, thank you so much for sharing. Off to buy some acetate!
It’s been so long 💕 we’ve all missed you!! And looks amazing!!
Aww you are too sweet! Thank you so much :D. Someone else commented yesterday and asked when I was coming back. I have been uploading videos the past few weeks though.. are they not showing up? 🤔🙈

@@batgirl1954 Ohhh that's so strange! Seems the RUclips algorithm doesn't like me atm 😭 thanks for letting me know I'll double check my settings on my end :). And thank you so much for your support it really means a lot xx
Amazing idea, thank you very much! I wonder how long can it last on buttercream. Thank you and amazing video!
Thank you very much! So interesting and useful as usual! ❤️
Fun facts: 1T cornflour to 1C water is how I make both compostable glue (great for party decorations/papier mache I don't want to keep. Perfect for tissue-paper cherry blossoms on dry branches for weddings), and my spray starch for ironing (I add rosewater for scent, & cold water to thin & cool it so I can put it in a plastic spray bottle immediately to use)
Wow that's awesome! Thanks for sharing :D
@@CakesbyMK can I add it to drinks and cake to eat? Would it affect anyone’s health when consumed especially in drinks ??🙏🙏it’s urgent please ma
Thank you needed this so much !! Love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
MK, you're a legend! This is amazing!
If I added sugar will it change anything drastically?
Looks super easy!! Thanks for sharing this recipe 😊
So easy to make right! Thanks Zaynab :)
Awesome, thanks for the video ❤️
Thank you. This is awesome
Fabulous will def try this
Thank you MK! You’re the best!!!
Wow❤️❤️Love from India 🇮🇳
Can you make the gold and silver luster dust from this?
That's so cool! I'll have to try this some time! :)
Hi,
GREAT video. So expertly done. You're very charming.
Question, I'd really appreciate you answering:
I'm looking to use edible glitter in cocktails.
Would this cornflour based glitter dissolve in liquid or retain its structure?
Amazing!!! I love the idea and love watching your videos 😍
Question how do u store the glitter and now long do they last?
Thanks so much Eman! :D You can store them in an airtight container and they will last for ages! As long as you keep them in a cool dry place they'll stay good for months :)
Wow loved it you're great
Love this !
How does the rose gold come out?
What brand of color should I use?
I need to make an 8” cake covered in Fondant with a layer of glitter all over the cake, what should I use to stick the glitter on the fondant covered cake?
Wow, this is so helpful
Amazing!! Can you flavor the glitter?
Jazakhallah khair for such a brilliant video. Once again great tips and tricks…will definitely try this out Insha’allah. Can you add gold dust instead of gel colour to the water, cornflour mix to create a shiny gold? Have a great day, bless ❤😊😊
You're most welcome :) and hmmm I've never tried that before but it sounds like it could work and would be amazing!! :D
@@CakesbyMK I think I’ll give it a shot and see, I love how you’ve grown over the years and it always amazes me how clean your apron is 😄. Have a fab day hun xx

My 12 year old daughter vanilla cake came out amazing..i would like to know if we can use your vanilla and chocolate cake recipe for cupcakes. Shukran so much we appreciate. Can't wait to try your chocolate cake
You're so welcome! I'm so glad to hear the vanilla cake came out well :D And yes you can use both for cakes and cupcakes :). Thank you so much for your support xx

looking for a DIY for the edible luster dust to put in alcohol drinks to give them a shimmer. Can these be used or is there something else I can make
@cakesbymk please respond🙏I just commented something similar
Have you tried it out yet since a year ago?? Did it work okay? Was there after taste?
Is corn flower the same as corn starch?
Salam, Absolutely amazing! How do we apply? Do we add liquid and paint on like luster dust or apply it dry like sanding sugar?
Salaams! You would apply this dry :) if you add liquid to it then it will probably go all clumpy which you don't want! :)
Hi, just discovered your channel and subscribed. Thank you for the recipe. Which food coloring did you use? (I mean the Brand, the Brown looks like from wilton ). Could you also give the gram measurements please? I will send this to my children, the oldest started the pastry school. I am going to try it today. Kind Regards from the Netherlands dear.

Thank you so much! :D And I've never tried it on Chantilly cream but it may be okay! You just want to make sure the cream isn't too wet/soft otherwise the glitter might melt :)
A recipe I don't need to go n buy the ingredients coz I have them already yes !💪💪💪
beautiful and clear intructions, thanks! Q: how would you make silver glitters ? :O
Thank you! :) Hmmm the closest I've got to silver is just using white gel colour! You may want to add maybe some silver glitter or something into the mixture or make the white colour slightly darker by adding in another colour :)
Mix 1 part blue with 1 part black, and add a small amount of white to create silver.
Thanks for sharing. Can this be mixed with alcohol and paint on cakes?
do you think it's possible to spread it out on defracting sheets to make it holographic like you can with chocolate?
Wow have never thought of this! I have no idea to be honest but now you've got me curious!! :D
Hi MK. Thanks for a great video. Can the acetate sheets be used more than once? If yes, will it give it that shine still?
Hi Kimberly! Yes absolutely :) You just need to wash and dry it in between uses. I've used my acetate sheets over and over again many times :)
So cool! I wonder if you could make it even more sparkly by putting it between two acetate sheets? :)
Hi there! Yeah someone was suggesting something very similar! Definitely a fun idea to experiment with :D
I wondered that, also, but how would it dry? You could use that rainbow/holographic acetate instead, that would give more shine.
hi madam MK
do we have spread thick layer?
Can we mix color in hot or lukewarm cornflour better?
thank you so much madam
u are amazing
Heya! A thin layer will be better, and yes you can add the colouring in earlier if you like when heating the cornflour :). So glad to hear you're enjoying the content and thank you so much for your love and support!
@@CakesbyMK thanku madam MK
What brand gel drops do you use? I need to purchase some and don't know which brand is the best.
Amazing
can we use to spray over a cake??
awesome artist
Thanks
Hi I have a question would this glitter work on chocolate? By the way great work on everything you do!!!!!
Hi there! Do you mean to sprinkle on chocolate? :) Yes it will but you just need to make sure it's very fine when you grind it :)
Looks great. I noticed you grind the acetate paper up with the glitter. Is it still edible? Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
Hi Lorraine! The cornflour mixture is removed from the acetate paper before grinding it, so the acetate paper isn't in the final mixture - so yes the final glitter is edible :) hope that helps!
Yes it does. Thank you for responding.
welcome
Incroyable 😍
Can I cover whole cake with it because it tastes bitter?
I tried your recipe...it turns out perfect💜
Hi there! So glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe :D And hmmmm I've never tried this but I guess you could! :)
@@CakesbyMK it does taste bitter really ???
How about pouring it on saran clear wrap
How long can these last in a container?
Fabulous
Hey great vid, could you use tin foil instead?
Thanks Farhana! And hmmm I haven't tried it with tin foil but I have my doubts! If you decide to give it a go would love to hear how it comes out :)
@@CakesbyMK thank you for responding! Can I say your doing a fab job, and I watch all your videos! Also I will give it a go and let you know 😃
@@hanastar8294 thank you so much! Really appreciate the support :D
Hey hi nice video very helpful. Wanted to know if we make gold edible gel color n make the dust can it be the same kinds of dust like how your other video suggests to use gold dust.
I use mainly whipped cream as frosting so would it be sensible to invest in gel gold paint or gold dust?
Hi there! Unfortunately this will not work in the same way as lustre dust so you can't use it to make a paint sorry! And either or should be fine, just make sure that your whipped cream isn't too soft otherwise it will stick to your brush as opposed to the paint sticking to your frosting :)
Hi, somebody asked what does it taste like and I didn't see a reply that is what I am curious about. and love your work.
Hi Pamela! Hmm good question - I haven't really tried a whole lot at once to be honest as I've only ever used it as an edible glitter on cakes but I don't think it really has any noticeable taste to it when used in small quantities! :)
I dont see where I can send you a picture but I tried your instructions & it work. However I have to do @ least 3 or 4 sheets to get the amount that I need to cover a chocolate shoe, but thank you I know how to make my own glitter yayyy
Amazing ❤️
I wonder if you can make sugar sails with this
Ohhh I never thought of that! What a great idea - you probably could!
Would this work on foil?
Your grinder brand is what pls
can i use liquid food colouring instead ?
You go Girl!!!!!!!)👏👏👏👏👍
Can this glitters be used for geode cake?...
What is the sheet called that you have it drying on
Acetate, or OHP sheet (Over Head Projector).
My question is can you sweetness if so with what.??Ty❤️
Hi there! I'm not too sure about that sorry!
Is it possible to make holographic glitter?
Maam plz write down the name of sheet....and in place of this sheet can we use any other thing
Hi there! It's called acetate sheet, and you can use OHP paper :)
thanks for pointing out the other sheet types don't work cos I would've absolutely tried lolol
Haha glad it was helpful :D
Wow 🤩
Not sure if this matters, but is a tablespoon in NZ 20mL like it is in Oz?
Hi there! The tablespoon measuring thingyy I use in NZ is 15ml :)
Hi.. can i use colour mill to colour the corn flour?
Hi there! Good question! Colour mill is oil based right? If so then I'm not so sure as you need the corn flour to really dry out and the oil base in colour mill colours may prevent this from happening :)
جميل ربنا يوفقك انا من مصر متابعة جيدة لك
