I noticed yours did what mine did. It increased the temp on 1 side (left). I just got one of these yesterday. I noticed it increases the temp 10 degrees when the co.pressor kicks on before it comes back down... similar to what yours showed
My guess is the first number that shows up when you turn it on is the internal temperature. After the compressor kicks on the numbers slowly decrease while the fridge starts to cool.
