I like how you used those water jugs in your test. It helped to visualize the size of that thing! I saw 2 jugs stacked on top of each other. That's DEEP. Using small crates or baskets will help organize the food and keep things from getting buried/smashed. Great for a family of 4 on a long weekend or maybe someone who boondocks for a week at a time. The price is amazing for the features it has. I'm impressed!
I’m very impressed with the dual capability of this unit shutting down on one side to save power… That’s a game changer. Thank you for your excellent review.
100% went weekend camping trip used one side only big stroage with bluetti ac180 came back home with still 55% battery left on power station winning my first Fridge and I'm loving it
Perfect timing! I’m in the market for a refrigerator for my self built van. Pearl, the van, finally made it to the top of “High tech redneck” and his partner, Smitty Mouse’s list. My brother and my husband installed a receiver hitch, swivel seat, and solar power system in my van. Theses guys are the happy hombres and like to keep busy in their silver years. I really appreciate the review and I’m going to buy a refrigerator today. Thanks Rick and hello, Linda!!
This one looks good, we've had it running now for a few weeks and it's going with us on our upcoming trip. I should have mentioned that it has a small footprint for its size.
the fridge came and it seems so sturdy and well built. It fit right between the front seats in our e350 van. It took no time at all to get down to temp on a 70° day. 13 hours later It’s just sipping power. Our 100 amp hour battery is at 100% this morning and the solar panels (2, 100 watt Renogy panels) are in part shade of a budding cottonwood tree. What that means to the non-solar speaking public is that the unit used so little power overnight that the early morning shade was all it took to recharge the battery. I bought it for all of the reasons you listed. One cool feature that I don’t think you mentioned is that the surface of the sturdy doors is non-slip. It will be a good place to set the little stuff I’m always juggling: my purse when I’m getting gas and paying at the pump, my debit card at the same time, my drink when I’m sitting in the passenger swivel seat facing the rear of the van while parked. I’m curious about whether I should bring it in the house for storage. Our garage isn’t air conditioned and we have had heat damage to some gear stored out there… PS edited to add that my brother (who has a high end Wynter unit in his van, and 800 watts of solar), High Tech Redneck himself, is buying one of these units for his Jeep Wrangler. When we go hunting he takes the Jeep out in the bush so they can get closer to the hunting area, leaving me to enjoy camp.
I just bought the same unit and was a little worried about the power consumption however the ability to shut down one side gives me piece of mind that I made the right decision.
The price is insanely low for a duel zone. A huge upgrade over the 30qt fridge I now use (and paid almost as much for). Had to order one. Thanks for the info Rick.
thanks Richard- I was in the market for my first fridge and had bought a different brand just a week ago. I liked the size, look, and that it had two lids. But the control panel was either defective or I wasn't clear on how it worked ( too complicated ), so I sent it back to Amazon, no problem! So now I was apprehensive on what to choose, after lots of looking and not so sure of my choice abilities, I was on Amazon, made my choice and was about to "hit that button " and my other half said, " did you watch Gone again recent review on the same fridge " I was about to buy . I put everything on hold, watched your review and feel like I made the right choice. I got this exact one on Amazon for only $324. and I feel like I got a deal! 😅I feel much better knowing you reviewed it and was impressed with the new model. I have watched your channel for a couple of years now and love your adventure content and I value your opinion from your reviews. I hope to meet you and Linda someday out on the road!🤗
Hello Bonnie, we're glad we helped. That SetPower refrigerator is here at my feet while I write this. We're on our way across the US to Florida and brought it along.
Just ordered my first compressor fridge! The PT 35 based on your review. Needed a shorter height for my planned trailer location otherwise I would have gone with a larger one. Looking forward to the delivery and using it🤙🏻
Gosh, That 369 dollar price is making ice coolers obsolete. I can see one of these in my future.i hate buying ice. Thank you Rick , you always do a great job with your reviews. I hope you guys are traveling safely.
So far, so good! Just trying to find some warmer temperatures while watching the weather forecasts. We're in NE right now, met some nice folks at our stops.
That thing is incredibly efficient. I suppose it would be even better if it were completely full. It has all the necessities without all the gimmicky extras
I have read and seen in video's where some are saying that running 12 volt refrigerators on an eco mode is bad for the compressor, Any thoughts on this @Rick?
You need to run the refrigerator from a power station, car battery or an electrical outlet. For solar, you need to use a power station that has solar panels connected to it.
Great information, I'm getting closer to hitting the road & video's like this help a lot on making my choices on different items. As always thank you for making these videos🤙✌️UC....
4:19 The control panel on the floor, is a no go for me. I've had my share of this form factor, on other devices, in my lifetime. (an age thing). I do like the separate doors. Thats ia a good feature. We own the big 2 compartment Bodega 59qt (because of your review, a year or so ago?) I like where the control panel is on the Bodega. But in the 'real-world', the PHONE APP is what I primarily use to change settings. I looked up this SetPower, it does not have Bluetooth (that I saw). Also, the BASKETS in the Bodega is very nice feature, we use them to pull out and repack and to access things on the bottom. Rick, normally you do thorough reviews. You are quite knowledgeable. I think this review skewed toward the manufacturer. Failing to point out some key features, not included, is a disservice to your subscribers, in my opinion. I'm interested to see your observations after using it on your next trip. We love you and Linda, and enjoy all of your videos. God bless! Travel safe!
I did point out the low control panel and the fact that it doesn't have baskets. I like my Bodega and have taken it on many trips, but I leave the baskets at home anyways for more room. I don't care for the upper control panel on the Bodega because my arm is constantly passing across it as I reach in, and it changes the settings. I also like this company and said the reason why in my video, because I've had great success with another of their refrigerators. We'll see how it holds up on this next extended trip, but I don't anticipate any problems. The price is right on this refrigerator, it's better insulated - giving it a lower power draw, and you can turn off one side totally, making it more efficient. Why would I not give it a good review?
Rick, great review. Can one side be used as a freezer and the other side as a refrigerator? The price is amazing. This one is near the top of my list, once the need arrives.
Great review. We talked about getting something similar. But I don't think our camping setup would be enough to run one. Now if we had permanent solar for constant power supply, I'd for sure be all about it. I'd really love one for overlanding, but we're even less equipped for that kind of power consumption when we do that kind of camping/travel.
Keep in mind that Rick demonstrated this at a refrigerator temperature, in a room in his house. If you want to set it to 0deg to keep your ice cream frozen, and you are camping in the desert where it is 90deg, it will use a lot more power.
Hello Larry. The cooling cycle alternates from one side to the other. First it cools one side then it switches to the other side. Otherwise it would need to have two compressors.
Big subscribed fan for a couple of years now always review videos with thumbs up thank you rather than go over your other solar generator reviews a small one for that I'm looking for AMA C is endorsing new Patriot power shy kick just suggest Shopping simple I put together my own out in the garage I hold your opinion in high regard
Hello Kip, I haven't gotten my hands on a Patriot Power generator yet to try out and review. They look ok though and have lithium iron phosphate batteries in them, which are currently the best.
For refrigerator reviews please mention what the room temperature is. The delta between the ambient and your setting is the determining factor for power draw. You can imagine that the refrigerator will be working a lot harder if the ambient is 100deg than if the ambient is 70deg. In fact, measuring power draw for a fixed internal setting, with several ambient temperatures would give me a better indication of what the draw will be for my particular camp environment.
Another Good Review, Thanks Rick. You are Definitely the Best of the Best for Reviews on Anything especially the equipment that we Nomads need. We Trust You and that makes All the difference. And yes, I will be getting one of these. Great price too. Now, here is a Question. I've yet to take the Plunge on these small AC units, the ones that will decide whether the girls & I live or Burn Up this summer. Is there a way, or what are the chances that you can give us a review on these Life-Support Systems??? Have you enough info to share, on which one is the best??? Do you have one yourself??? That's going to e normal. If it didn't allow for that fluctuation then the compressor would be running all the time. But nothing is thawing so it's ok. I keep my freezer at 15 degrees and that works for me.
Intial reviews are great. But I'd like to see the 4-5 year long term reviews on these cheap Chinese fridges. You hardly ever see them. You are starting to see them on the higher end fridges. You need to run the refrigerator from a power station, car battery or an electrical outlet. For solar, you need to use a power station that has solar panels connected to it.

That would be great for a teardrop trailer design Instead of having an ice box in the counter.

Hot much power does it use at "0" . I need a freezer on one side. Thanks, Gene
It will probably use twice as much power to freeze and I suggest that you set it at 15F instead of zero for better power usage.
Hi I was curious if you have used this fridge for a while and if you would still recommend it. Thanks
Hello Jeff,
We used it for 6 weeks straight on the road and continue to use it now. No problems at all.
I wonder why the compartment on the right doesn’t show it’s cooling even though it’s set on 37 and currently 55 degrees?

For emergencies the house which would be refrigerator computer TV not that much

I didn't have it set on freezer.
