- After 1 year of ownership, I can safely say Microsoft's Xbox Series S is a great gaming console and a retro gaming beast. This console has redefined gaming on a budget by offering 60fps on AAA games without a flagship price tag. Game developers often complain about having to work on it, but I think it is extremely consumer friendly and a great way to access Game Pass.

Had mine 2 years now maybe longer and its a powerful small console, I only have a 1080p 144hz monitor so it's perfect

I got a SS about 6 months ago for $180 complete. Absolutely love it. Just finishing RE4 Remake and it runs great on the SS. Besides no disk drive it is almost the perfect console.

I’m looking into getting a new console and this is the one I plan to get especially since XBOX released 1TB model recently. I’ll be doing lots of traveling for my job too making this one more reasonable for casual gaming.
I’d love to play the new Spider-Man 2 game but I’ll wait till PS5 pro comes out.

True but the 1TB option is pretty solid for most people. I personally don’t need more than that because I have a decent download speed

Series X is better of course, I just think the S is amazing for it’s price.
I bought one, and what a piece of trash. Even Xbox has said it's becoming obsolete and holding back the series X faster than they expected. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

@HolyGrailGaming You have the right to disagree with Microsoft about their own product. Microsoft had the policy that every game on the series X and S had to have the same gameplay options for both systems. Baldur's Gate 3 can not be played in coop/split screen on the S, and that was with Larian sending a team to Microsoft to try and get it working. Microsoft had to change their policy because they wanted the game of the year on their systems. So series S owners have to do without the feature where BG3 is at its best. Starting to sound obsolete, surely. That's why I should have bought the series X from the start along with the better system, the PS5. I have the series X now, but I play the ps5 80% more than the series X. I hope Microsoft gets their shite together for the next generation.
@@humorinpolitics56 So I have a PS5 and agree that it’s a way better console in almost every way, but it’s also double the price. I love the Series S for what it is, an extremely affordable console that can run pretty much every modern game. Baldur’s Gate is obviously the 1 exception, but it’s not even out on Xbox yet so right now it’s all just speculation. I do think they will add split screen by the release even if it runs terribly.
My whole point with this video is a console that is under $300 that can run RE4 Remake, Diablo 4, any COD, etc at 60fps is definitely an awesome thing for consumers. Of course, if you have double that amount of money the Series X and PS5 are better options.
@HolyGrailGaming One, they don't maintain solid 60, and it's at the expense of major graphical downgrades. Even at quality 30fps settings, the games don't look anything like the PS5. If someone is going to save the money to buy a series X, they should save longer and buy the PS5. Not only would they have the best console, but the extra time it takes to save also means that the games they have been wanting to play will be cheaper, with a larger selection to choose from. Then, when the PS6 comes out, there will be a couple of years where the new games coming out will also still be coming out on the PS5. With the series S, games are now becoming too advanced that S owners are going to start missing out on options. Have you read about the nightmare its been for Remedy to get Alan Wake 2 to run on the series S. They feel bad about the quality of the game the series S owners are going to receive because of Microsoft demanding it also run on the S. So it's not just BG3, we're going to see it get worse with new games, and developers are sick of the constraints they're put under by the S.
The devs are right. The problem is that time has to be put into adapting the games for the Series S because the hardware is weaker, so the devs could spend the time optimizing if there was only one hardware. Sony has done everything right in this area.
And please don't praise the GamePass so highly, it's packed with so many games that you don't even know what to play.
In addition, the publishers are losing out on money because the games are directly in GamePass.
And now Microsoft is trying to sell a Series S with 1TB of memory, where the 512GB is cheaper and buying a 1TB plug-in card costs exactly the same as the Series S with 1TB of memory, with the difference that you then have 1.5TB of memory .
Maybe, but games have been poorly optimized upon release since the ps4 era. I wouldn’t blame the Series S for that.
And gamepass is sweet, especially if you like 360 era games
