Trying out the Jumbo Max STR8's this week. I bought two of the Jumbo Max grips and hits balls with the 8 and 9 iron and tried it on a driver. It is such a secure fit that you can relieve the stress in forearm which helps with their movement. The grips have helped my son and for sure, they feel strange until you get used to them. Not sure if someone mentioned this already, but Brysons clubs are more upright than normal and this ties into the steeper plane and gripping the club more in the palm. Loving the content 👍👍👍
I put one of these in medium size on my driver and so far I like it. I usually hit a bit on the heel side and would rotate the face too much. This grips seems to help as I have long fingers and I’d grip too tightly. We’ll see how it does for this golf season!

i have always used standard sized grips but it always feels very awkward and cramped for my hands gripping the club so i will definitely have to consider bigger grips, maybe not that big
I have ML glovsize and i am playing light oversized grips ( Karma ultra light oversize 58 gr ) i love them !! I think Vinn allso have some ultralight oversize as well
I had the same feeling, but it really got better when I got the JMX Ultralite, however in Size S instead of XL as seen in this video. They are just slightly bigger than the standard oversize grip (which the guys at Jumbomax refer to as XS) and I'm so much more relaxed in my hands. I heard good things about WINN Oversize grips, too (they are also less expensive than the jumbomax). I use ML Gloves btw.
I use the Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo grips on all my clubs... I tend to have less forearm stress using them... also, they are very, very durable... a few of mine have been on my clubs for at least 4 years, and they still perform great!
I just put a set of Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo grips on my irons. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how much it helped me hold onto the club. I do need to work on how I grip my left hand, but initial results were better contact, straighter ball flights, and more feeling in the heads, as I moved swing weight up the club by a lot with the new grips. I can now really feel when I tow it, heel it, thin it, etc. The one problem I have currently is hitting the ball thin, but I did have the clubs shortened a half inch to fix my dynamic lie. Having only hit a hundred balls or so, I still have to get used to the new grips, but it looks promising.
Had a fitting for new irons in September last year. My grips are now mid size grips with 3 tapes. Definitely feels more comfortable in the hand. It kind of makes sense; I also have an extra grip on my cricket bat - so it's about what I'm used to 😉
@@huntersandberg9193 You struggle with reading don't you ??? I never claimed I knew Bryson.... READING IS FUNDAMENTAL AND YOU'RE AN IDIOT ! Go read it again and I'll wait

Great video, as always! Don’t forget they make oversized grips in different sizes for different sized hands. I have these grips in a medium, I like them.
I feel like these would be good for someone that has a severe miss left. Seems like you would have to force it to even flirt with anything left, with those grips. 😂
A couple years ago I dislocated a finger on my right hand and have been dealing with occasional pains especially when I thin a shot. I switched to the Jumbomax and don't have much data, but haven't had any aches or pains using those grips and I like the way they feel. I had a normal grip on my 3 utility iron trying it out and I did feel the pain a couple times on thin shots so I'm pretty sure that the bigger grips do help and could help people relieve some issues if they have aches or pains in their hands.
You did a terrible injustice to the grip. You should have swing normal instead of trying to replicate brysons swing mechanics. Terrible shame as you did not help neither the grip maker nor the viewer in my opinion! Sadly you even used one length clubs which you are not used to. I must say that I don’t believe it was your intention to be biased.
I have a mild case of arachnodactyly. These grips have helped me tremendously. I played D1 for a top 20 golf team and I wish I had them when I was on the team instead of jumbo with extra tape. I can now use a proper grip where my hand face each other properly. My fingers are so long that the ring finger on my left hand still touches the pad of my thumb even with the big grips. But, the pinky doesn’t quite touch and most importantly they don’t dig into my palm anymore. I have a lot of lag in my wrists when I swing (I use the float loading method) and found these grips don’t hinder that in the least. 10/10 for someone like me.
30 yrs ago I found my shots were accurate and consistent with hand towel wrapped. Reason I used hand towel was that in December at Arkansas, it rained majority of the month and original grips are wet and slippery. So this jumbo grips are fantastic welcome.
“165, I’m going to go with the eight iron.” I would love to be able to swing that well. Keep up the great work. Your videos are awesome. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I tried the small, and that was to big for me. Then tried the extra small and found that size to be just right. What I didn't care for was the actual feel of the grip. I found them to be to slick. So I am sticking with my Lamkin Sonar Midsize. After trying almost all the grips out there, I have found these to be the best of the best. Thanks for all the great content Pete! Sending you all the best from the USA!
I’m 67 years old and only started playing golf about 6 months ago. I started with a very cheep set of regular clubs to see if I liked playing golf. I did enjoy playing, but was terrible at it. I couldn’t break 100 to save my life. Then I learned about the single plane swing, one length irons, and JumboMax grips. I did my research and pulled the trigger and bought Cobra one length Speedzone irons equipped with JumboMax xtra small grips. I practiced the single plane swing with single length clubs. I only had to learn one swing for all my irons. I bought Ping G425 SFT driver, and two fairway woods. I now shoot in the low to mid eighties. In only four months. And I’m old! I credit some of my success to the fact that I just started playing golf and didn’t have years of traditional golf institution. I didn’t have to break old habits. I highly recommend this approach to golf for anyone just starting to learn the game. Young especially, but old as well. I think it’s the future of golf.
Hi Pete, I actually use a slightly thicker grip on my longer irons than I do with my shorter ones. For me, 4,5 and 6 are thicker because, at least in my mind, it helps me take some off the misses away. I was prone to a miss right with longer clubs. While the short irons were much more accurate. Thickening the longer irons reduced the miss offering better scoring... oddly driver is a normal grip but that’s only because I’ve not decided if my experiment worked or not and I’m not made of money 💰 Interesting video but I’ll not be going Bryson any time soon... maybe once I get 200mph ball speed....
Just changed all mine to Golf Pride CP2 standard which are slightly wider at the bottom . They were expensive but got them at a bargain price from a PGA pro. My son (ex assistant pro ) put them on for me ! I bought a Titleist gap wedge with one already fitted and loved it , hence the change.
I switched to these grips recently because I had started to develop trigger finger and pain in my left hand. These grips help me to grip more comfortably and still enjoy golf. They are a little strange at first but you do get used to them quickly.
I use them with great success using the "Baseball" or "Five Finger" grip. Taking a traditional grip with these feels odd...grab it like a baseball bat and you'll smile for days. Keep in mind the great difference in weight between the traditional and the lightweight versions. Makes a huge difference in swing weight. Drop one of these on your pitching or sand wedge and you'll wonder why you haven't done it before now.
As someone who has larger hands I have used midsize/oversized grips for a while until last year. I became intrigued by Bryson’s grips. Once I saw there trial program and return policy and how you choose the right size for you I gave them a go. I don’t think I could go back to oversize grips ever again. These work wonders for me. I use a conventional grip too. It takes a little time and effort to get use to playing open face shots but once you do you can hit all shots. I think people who want to give them a try to come in with an open mind and do your research on there website to figure out the right size grip to try. I also think these grips are great for people with larger hands. If you don’t know how to compress your irons and get that forward shaft lean at impact you might have an issue with having too much loft at impact
Well done. You put it succinctly. I just switched from Midsize +4 to Tour Velvet Jumbo over the winter. First round later today. I do wear an XL+ glove, so I expect the new grips to be even better, but who knows. Golf is different for everyone. "It's good sportsmanship not to pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling". Cheers!
I have Brysons exact grips with his logo on them. They are great and have helped me swing faster and really push my speed training because it’s easier to hold on to the club. Well done Pete! 👍
Fun video, Peter! Hope your fingers heal up soon. I can't wait until the world is normal-ish again. I'm a musician and we usually tour the UK and play a couple of shows a year at Manchester Academy and can't wait to come back. Cheers from Nashville, TN.
I started golfing after nearly 20 years of going without. When I did, I bought a set of used clubs that had very new jumbo grips on them so I left them alone. In as much as I essentially started as a complete novice all over again, I enjoy them. A career of hard labor has left me with a lot of nagging arthritis issues, etc. The larger grips help me feel like I'm controlling the club face; probably more than is due. I won't be trying the SUPER jumbo but, for me, the bigger grip gives me confidence that I can do something that I patently cannot.
Good info pete thank you. Personally i switched from stock grips to midsize last year. It was the first time i played with a larger grip in my 40 years of playing and i must say i was shocked by how much it has improved my game so i can see the benefits of a larger grip. Now i may try to regrip one of my older clubs to these jumbo grips and give it a go!
Have been using single plane swing for about 20 years now, saw it in a golf magazine somewhere, just made sense to me because it gets club face back to ball perfectly most times. Am a twice a year golfer these days, but I can assure you this method still works brilliantly for me, can consistently smash tee shot well over 270 metres with very little warm up on driving range. Love the idea of the soft jumbo grips, very keen to give that a whirl as also get sore hands.
I am using the same grips for more than a year, did not change my grip form or style, if any a little on the strongest side, it helps with stopping me to squeeze tight and sometimes re-griping on the backswing, it helps a lot if you have long fingers like myselft as I mentioned before for better results do not change your grip form or style. Actually help me a lot with confidence hitting my driver, been in the back of my SUV, and only come out at the range. I do grip very strongly with my driver and bend my wrist like DJ to better control and hit my natural power fade. These grips are not for everybody. if you remove the grips, send them to me, i will put them to good use, next time I re-grip my clubs.
Used the Super Stroke Traxion Tour Oversize for a few months now. I found them to wear out too quickly on the driver and are slick and hard to control on the irons when its damp! Switched to Lamkin Crossline 1150 (wedge grip) with extra tape, the extra length gives better control when gripping down. Notice the difference and will continue to use oversize now.
Thanks Pete, interesting . Lockdown new skill for me was re-gripping my clubs . Picked Golf Pride MCC Plus4 Align. You need the grips, solvent, tape, shaft clamp, vice (i used my workmate) and hooked stanley knife blade. Take it steady and it's about 10 mins per grip. Very satisfying...roll on the 29th March..
I use to have the small JM (Jumbomax) grips on my driver and 3w and really liked the feel but donated that set. But I have been using the Winn Excel mid grip currently because when I went to purchase the same JM grip for my current driver and 3w, they have been out of stock. So I tried the large, just for an experiment. The large did not work for me on the driver, but then just for giggles, I took it off of the driver and put it on an older 56 degree wedge. Game Changer! So now I put large JM grips on 2 of my irons and a 52 degree and WoW the feel is amazing!
For the past few years, I've been using Winn Excel Oversize grips - they are big but not this big. I find that the larger size enables me to reduce grip pressure and club manipulation during the swing. Recently bought a set of same-length clubs as an experiment and I'll be putting these on to complete the experiment. I agree with you that there's something to it - it's not a gimmick.
I have them on my clubs. I love them! As a beginner from COVID i've come down from a 45 handicap to 17. Really stopped blocking stuff left and shanking right as much. Think these grips have really helped
Hi Pete, I have these grips in the medium size. They help quite a bit with my arthritic thumbs. I guess it's just what you are used to using. When I hold a club now with a regular size grip it feels like I am holding a toothpick. ⛳
If you take a full swing with your long irons and mistakenly hit the toe of the club face, the shaft will torque violently in your hand, shearing the skin on your palms & cause a lot of blisters. I stuck a jumbo grip on my 1 iron and It has really saved my hands.
They do have smaller sizes so you could go for a "smaller" jumbo grip and grip the club in a more conventional manner. Also, one of the points they talk about with the grip and helping keep the club face square is that if the grip is larger you physically can't rotate it as much, leading to the club face not opening or closing too severely. The give an example, they grip the club in one hand hold it out in front and rotate it clockwise and counter clockwise with both the jumbomax and a normal sized grip, to illustrate that its easier with the smaller grip to rotate a lot comparative to the jumbomax. Good video!
I tried to put one of these on my driver a few months back... It was out of stock so I used a jumbo grip with triple wrapping on it to make it larger. It is by far the most comfortable grip of all of my clubs now. Of course, I am 6'6 and have large hands though. =)
I bought the max grip and added 50 yards to my drive. I must say that I use jumbo grips to begin with and naturally gravitated toward his grip without knowing it's a thing. My fingers are too long to use the diagonal across the palm. The Jumbo Max grip is comfortable for me. For others they do make three sizes all increasingly larger than a standard jumbo.
I wear a mens large for golf grip and use a +4 midsize I’ve never tried a jumbo but going to a midsize plus 4 from Golf Pride made a huge difference in how I’m able to grip the club more comfortably, and more consistent pressure
I use the Golf Pride’s Midsize plus. I’ve considered going to a fatter grip because I have big mitts. When I grab a club on the shelf with regular grip, it feels like the size of a pencil in my hand. Great video.
because of arthritis I build out my grips to about the same non-tapered thickness (but with some lead too to speed my down swing). It is nice to take the left out of (most of) the equation, and people who try them love them. They are a more controllable interface to and with the club face and shaft.
I've recently re gripped my irons with oversized grips , i think the idea of thicker grips is to reduce the tension in the forearms , i always felt like i've been strangling the club but so i'm hoping for the best next month .
Hi Peter, I've done some math on the subject of grips. The point that everyone seems to miss is that the larger the grip the greater the margin for error is for keeping the face square. Math example Two Grips, one is 20mm in diameter and the other is 25mm in diameter. 20mm grip has a circumference of 62.83mm (0.175mm per degree of rotation) 25mm grip has a circumference of 78.54mm (0.218mm per degree of rotation) lets say the margin of error we want is + - 1 degree on the "square" club face at impact. 20mm grip has a 0.35mm (0.175 x 2') rotation margin of error 25mm grip has a 0.44mm (0.218 x 2') rotation margin of error 0.44 : 0.35 = 1.257 or 26% more "forgiveness" or You only need to be 75% as accurate with the 25mm grip to hit the same accuracy as the 20mm grip (My favourite version of the outcome) In simple terms, the larger the grip, the less the tinny imperfections in wrist and shaft angles will effect the "squareness" of the face at impact.

10:03 “using muscles that I’ve almost never used before”. Don’t think we buy that one Peter haha
Remember Jumbo Max UL come in L, M, S, and x S. Why test just the X-L? Personally I love these grips.
i have always used standard sized grips but it always feels very awkward and cramped for my hands gripping the club so i will definitely have to consider bigger grips, maybe not that big
It’s about time grips like these we’re finally made👍🏻🇨🇦⛳️
"Its your only point of contact with the club" --- You don't know me!
I use the Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo grips on all my clubs... I tend to have less forearm stress using them... also, they are very, very durable... a few of mine have been on my clubs for at least 4 years, and they still perform great!
“Ah-mih-zin” I can’t stop saying it that way now
I just put a set of Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo grips on my irons.
I use the XL on my driver, and now I can't go back to a small (regular) size grip
Did you ever try midsize with 2 or 3 extra wraps?? Have you tried Golfpride Tour Velvet Jumbos?
Had a fitting for new irons in September last year. My grips are now mid size grips with 3 tapes. Definitely feels more comfortable in the hand. It kind of makes sense; I also have an extra grip on my cricket bat - so it's about what I'm used to 😉
2 of my friends use these grips due to arthritic hands. One is actually friends with Bryson
Liar
@@huntersandberg9193 You're special aren't you ?
@@TZOID08 no, I'm just being realistic. He's a pga golfer, who just completed it the MASTERS, and your claiming that you know him. Hard to believe
@@huntersandberg9193 You struggle with reading don't you ??? I never claimed I knew Bryson.... READING IS FUNDAMENTAL AND YOU'RE AN IDIOT ! Go read it again and I'll wait
@@TZOID08 if your friend knows Bryson, chances are you do to. I read it correctly, I'm just using something I like to call ✨logic✨
They're massive! I use UST Mamiya low torque mid grips on my irons, Golf Pride Your Velvet on my woods, Lamkin corded wedges and an Iomic midsize pistol putter
3 minutes in, and it seems like you haven’t really said anything.
Great video, as always! Don’t forget they make oversized grips in different sizes for different sized hands. I have these grips in a medium, I like them.
I feel like these would be good for someone that has a severe miss left. Seems like you would have to force it to even flirt with anything left, with those grips. 😂
I've been looking for a review of these JumboMax grips, so thanks Peter!
Bryson’s long shaft. Mutant his code word and do this
Switched to MCC+4 standard grips last year and WOW what a difference. Immediately felt more comfortable and more in control of the club.
Who else came from the Instagram live
Me!
“165, I’m going to go with the eight iron.”
I would love to be able to swing that well.
Thickening the longer irons reduced the miss offering better scoring... oddly driver is a normal grip but that’s only because I’ve not decided if my experiment worked or not and I’m not made of money 💰
Interesting video but I’ll not be going Bryson any time soon... maybe once I get 200mph ball speed....
Cheers!
Using Pure and Star grips allows you to use air to install and uninstall without tape. Faster if you have air pressure available.
Great video.
Really enjoyed that, thanks Pete. New studio is looking decent too!
Peter, this vid of yours really makes me feel having a good fun watching it and I don't even know why.. great one sir. I've enjoyed it.
I have to admit, I like the one length irons idea! That's probably the only Bryson thing I would adopt.
Thanks for keeping our spirits high this lockdown Pete (No pun intended!)!
Good point Jeff. The grips should help reduce tension in the hands and help you maintain the fluidity of youth!....for want of a better phrase....
The non taper ones are much better in the driver in my opinion. Love these grips. These immediately worked for me.
because of arthritis I build out my grips to about the same non-tapered thickness (but with some lead too to speed my down swing). It is nice to take the left out of (most of) the equation, and people who try them love them. They are a more controllable interface to and with the club face and shaft.
Back at you Pete can't wait to see some more course vlogs when the shutdown ends.
Watching this in the future and seeing this is probably the catalyst for you playing jumbo grips now
I've recently re gripped my irons with oversized grips , i think the idea of thicker grips is to reduce the tension in the forearms , i always felt like i've been strangling the club but so i'm hoping for the best next month .
Hi Peter, I've done some math on the subject of grips. The point that everyone seems to miss is that the larger the grip the greater the margin for error is for keeping the face square.
Math example
Two Grips, one is 20mm in diameter and the other is 25mm in diameter.
20mm grip has a circumference of 62.83mm (0.175mm per degree of rotation)
25mm grip has a circumference of 78.54mm (0.218mm per degree of rotation)
lets say the margin of error we want is + - 1 degree on the "square" club face at impact.
20mm grip has a 0.35mm (0.175 x 2') rotation margin of error
25mm grip has a 0.44mm (0.218 x 2') rotation margin of error
0.44 : 0.35 = 1.257 or 26% more "forgiveness"
or
You only need to be 75% as accurate with the 25mm grip to hit the same accuracy as the 20mm grip (My favourite version of the outcome)
In simple terms, the larger the grip, the less the tinny imperfections in wrist and shaft angles will effect the "squareness" of the face at impact.
