We should probably have said it is all included in the base price rather than stating that gratuities were included. However you look at it, the base price is the price you pay. Thanks for paying attention 😁👍 and thanks for watching.
What a lovely video. I tell you, I would love a conservatory, especially in the rain. Do you have a window seat for reading books, that’s the dream. Anyroadup, what a fun idea for a video. I’ve not done a P&O cruise yet but we are on the Azura, next October, which is nice. As for Ambassador, we are huge fans - we always seem to end up on the Ambition, so we’ve seen the crew members at the beginning and end of their contracts, and somehow they maintain the energy and smiles. Such amazing people. As I grow to hate flying ever more, and our old fave NCL offers less for more, I find myself just wanting a nice, relaxing Ambassador trip, even though that means formal nights (ugh).
Some not travel related advice. Don't go down the conservatory route! It was here when we moved in. Too hot in the summer ☀️ too cold in the winter ❄️. This was the one day in the year it was usable! Interesting what you say about NCL. We have just come back from a Virgin cruise. If you don't like formal nights, you might find that one interesting. Thanks for watching.
Virgin? Eek no, I know the sex toys were just an opening PR stunt, but ship-wide parties and drag queens? It’s a prospect as horrifying a prospect as giant mice and ducks.
You are so lucky in Britain to have such a choice of no-fly cruises. We have to fly for 4 to 5 hours to Sydney to get on a ship which costs around $2000 return for both of us! That's why we don't cruise often. Anyway, it's always fun to watch you two on your adventures.
Thanks, Joan. If it makes it any easier, we live in the middle of the country, so it is always at least a 3-hour drive to get to a cruise terminal 😁 Thanks again for watching 👍
I do love this upload, have sailed from Southampton with several cruise lines as well as other departure ports like Barcelona, Tenerife and Genoa. To my wife and I there is no doubt that Southampton is the easiest as it does not involve flying, on the last cruise we were in the car less than 10 minutes after disembarking from the the ship. Perhaps Tilbury will be as good, time will tell. Both suffer from having to negotiate the dreaded M25, and for Tilbury the often congested Dartford Crossing! We also have a conservatory, built during COVID, by far the best home improvement we have made. A wonderful room to entertain guests, sit in, read, nap and just chill, and this extends to night time with some carefully placed lights. Currently contemplating our next cruise, we'll see.
Been on both and really like both ships and happy to cruise on either , each ship has pros and cons. We have seen plenty of changes on Aurora over the years and have great memories of her in her early days.
@lynnedayer8474 thanks for your comment Lynne, yes both ships have some great features 👍 Making memories is what it's all about. Thank you for watching.
P&O UK and P&O Australia do not include gratuities in the prices of the fare Read:- in answer to the question “Are gratuities included on P&O Cruises?” the P&O Cruises tipping policy now states: “Tipping isn’t needed on our ships so you can relax knowing good service and good times are all part and parcel of your P&O Cruises holiday.”
You are right. We should have said that the price you see is the price you pay, not that it includes gratuities. You can tell we didn't work with a script 😂 The quote you give is actually included in our latest video on tipping! Thanks for watching and particularly for paying attention 😁👍
We've also done both ships so was enjoyable to watch. Think we prefer Ambition.....just! But we were on Aurora before her make over so might like her more if we go again. Like you Lisa, I loved her outside area at the back :)
@karenh18 lovely to hear from you Karen. Glad you enjoyed both ships. We went on Virgin Voyages a couple of weeks ago. Our vlogs will be out from this Friday. They are my favourite cruise line...food is excellent.
@@TravellingLightLisa Just watched your prep guide to it. :) Looking forward to seeing the rest as think its a similar itinerary to one we are doing wit Cunard, so looks like Virgin cruises may be being added to our list :)
You have convinced me to go on my next cruise, THE NORTHERN LIGHTS 8 NOV 2024 Just terified that the seas will be too high for me, all so on other cruises I have been able in the Med to lay in the sun, have a jucuzzi etc,, Just worried that I will be bored to death
Definitely a fresh look. We would be happy with either. There was a great deal with Ambition this week before Christmas. Unfortunately we can't go. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Nik. We definitely put the anal into analysis! Anyway, shouldn't you be enjoying Istanbul? Turkish delight on a moonlit night, in the words of the song. Hope you are having a good time.
@@TravellingLightLisa yes, thanks, nearly 10.00pm here so winding down after our first full day here. 24 degrees here today but very manageable. Look forward to a catch up next week.
Love the expression "value cruisers". 👍🏻 We bought no drinks package on Aurora, because we don't care about drinks much (brought 2 bottles of red wine on board for Sir, and he just went without afterwards) and the only thing we bought was 5 photos, cos it'd been our silver wedding. Having said that, we did splash out on a balcony cabin and really appreciated the fresh air. 😊 Hope to go again one day, especially to see the Northern Lights. How could we go on any other ship than the one named after them?? 😂 How do you think the service compares?
Glad you appreciated 'value cruisers' as a turn of phrase. 😁👍 In relation to aervice both were good but Ambition may have just had the edge. However, we have found that it is a matter of luck which cabin steward and staff you have looking after you and this means everyone's experience is different. There are no wrong choices between these two. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated.
Well I have two weeks to find out what I have commited to, I hope to see the NORTHERN LIGHTS, keep warm and enjoy my two weeks Please Ambasador look after me and old Gurmudgeon
Been on both and Aurora for us. Didn’t rate some of the food on the buffet on Ambition. Had the worst crumble ever 😂 however the entertainment on Ambition was fabulous
The criteria should come down to the number of and quality of the bars. Plus pool tables and dartboards (not dartsboards). Unfortunately I wouldn't know the quality of potential 'Mrs Disco' material / single women on board until I was on the cruise. Is there a way to find out this information in advance or should I just book onto a cruise for single people? I tune in every week in the hope you will review one.
@DiscoDavesPubReviews Ambassador were very good for singles. Most cruise lines host singles get togethers and events. If you could find a line that hosted singles darts and pool competitions, you would have cracked the code for your perfect cruise!
We should probably have said it is all included in the base price rather than stating that gratuities were included. However you look at it, the base price is the price you pay. Thanks for paying attention 😁👍 and thanks for watching.

Lol. It wasn't as horrific as some videos would suggest. 😂 There are plenty of quieter spaces if you don't require forced jollity!
@@TravellingLightLisa My sister got one, already there like you said, I think the dog uses it more
Excellent job
Cheers 🍺 Thanks for your kind comment 👍

Nice Comparison guys very interesting , we have yet to sail on Ambassador. The port of Tilbury is not far from us . Well done on getting out alive 😂
Thanks guys 👍 We are from West Bromwich, we have got out of worse alive!
Another great video...we "might" be checking one of these out ourselves soon 😉... maybe one day out paths will cross.
It would be great if our paths did cross one day. We wouldn't keep up with you two though! 🤣 Cheers Ade.
We find we don't drink enough to buy a drinks package at all. PAYG is the way for us out total for 2 weeks was under £100 for the pair of us

Another excellent video. It was a very interesting and useful comparison between the two ships.
We would go back on either. Thank you for watching 😁👍
I’ve been on both ships too - in the same year. Ambition gets my vote as the best one, Although I did love Aurora’s aft and prom deck.
@annabuttimore6819 thanks for watching and commenting Anna. Glad you enjoyed Ambition. Yes Aurora's aft and prom are stunning.
Aurora has a really nice Cinema which showa a good selection of films every day and on sea days a live classical concert .Aurora is adults only
Very good points. No kids is a particularly strong point in favour of Aurora! Thanks for watching 👍
I think Ambition cabin looked fresh bright winner
