I focused on grief and coping mechanisms for my psychology MSc thesis and hope to extend this to PhD. I heard of so many experiences like yours during my research, from people who have lost pets, loved-ones and children (myself included). Hope you are able to get some respite from working and some quality time with Mafoo on your Xmas cruise. Hi again. So brave sharing your feelings of loss - you were there at the end so she was not alone. Take comfort from that. ❤. Part 2 of my own saga: wow, you did so much more in Amsterdam than I. We almost did not get off, as we had been a couple of times previously but, sensibly, we did! The tram system there is incredible and because it is reliable and frequent, so well-used. I have to use a walking aid to get around and was pleasantly surprised by real gentlemen actually offering me a seat! Gold star to them. We were not there long enough to enjoy the lights so thank you for showing them to us. Ambassador are, I believe, the only cruise line to offer a non- musical play as part of their repertoire. What really struck me was the quality of all the productions in terms of sound quality (which is sadly lacking in some theatres I go to) and background projections. For a "small " ship, I find their entertainment more than adequate. I agree that at times we had to search for a seat in most venues but usually found some eventually. One 'problem' I did encounter was the issue of smoking areas. I stepped outside to get some fresh air on one evening only to encounter a pall of smoke. I asked if this was the smoking area. "Yes". So I went to the opposite side of the ship and tried again. Success. Only to be followed by a chap who promptly produced a vape. I pointed out that the smoking area was on the other side. He tried to ignore me and carry on. Red flag to a bull, Jamie. I pointed out that I suffered from heart and lung problems and would be grateful if he used the designated smoking areas PLEASE. He departed. And I enjoyed my fresh air. I was intrigued by your report of the lack of milk for the after dinner coffee. We thought it was just us!!! Our table had to repeatedly request some! Keep up the good work. Will look forward to your next installment. 😊

We did Ambassador cruise lines last Yr for the first time it wasn't for us so sorry to say we won't be cruising with them again I'm not writing this comment to put people off going with Ambassador we just found it wasn't for us we do like a lot going on on cruise ships we just didn't feel there was enough going on for us but that's just our opinion the lay out of the Theatre/show lounge we didn't like we witnessed a couple of people not happy when someone sat in front of them in the what we would call bucket seats we couldn't get our heads round who ever thought of the idea putting them seats in front of the back rests seats we witnessed on a couple of occasions people putting bags or carridigans on the seats in front of them so no one would sit in front of them which was wrong.
I sailed with the CMV ship 🚢 on numerous cruises, loved the experience and the crew were always terrific💐✔️ Now it is the QE,s with Cunard, which is lovely but just like a more upmarket CMV😊 And again the crew are wonderful.🌺✔️ Losing an animal is tough so kind regards. Happier sailing

Jamie, i am thoroughly enjoying your Vlogs and subscribe to your channel, sorry this is so late since you posted but was curious about Ambassador cruises. I have paused it at the point of you telling us about your pet and just had to pass on my condolences to you and Matthew. I hope this delayed message doesn't upset you too much and bring back those memories of losing her, but you can think of the joy she brought to you both. I know how hard it is losing a dear pet, those who don't have pets don't really understand and never will.
I was on the cruise before you, 3 nighter to Antwerp. I definitely won't be rushing back. The check-in was very quick, and I thought the ship was very clean but that's as good as it got. The food was appalling, didn't fancy anything on the MDR menu for dinner so went to the buffet and was surprised to find exactly the same choices. The salad bar was depleted so my dinner ended up being a cheese sandwich. The following day I got some chicken which I spat out it was just gristle so I just had salad. I went ashore and found a supermarket to at least have some snacks to eat. I'm not one for shows so can't comment on the entertainment. I thought the muster drill was ridiculous, most people couldn't hear what was being said and only those at the front could see the demonstration. I enjoyed exploring Antwerp, but I won't be returning to Ambassador

I am sorry for your loss I've just experienced a loss of my own with the death of my horse Sunshine who I have had since birth till the day I lost her. Thought that always helps me would I ever want not to have known them to avoid the pain of loss? No the warmth and richness they bring to our lives is invaluable and after a little time another friend can come along not to replace whose gone but to enrich the life they and I live. Be well.

Aw I just wanted to crawl into my phone and give you a big hug, losses are so hard to deal with, esp when you have to grieve alone. I am so sorry for your loss. ❤ I am also a bit gutted that your experience on Ambition (so far) is the opposite of ours, we had an amazing time - but then again our cruise only held 490 or so passengers!! Service was amazing, and if I remember rightly the pools were filled (we went in November). I really hope it picks up. I do wonder if the last minute changes had anything to do with some of the last minute ship swapping issues? We have booked Ambience for Christmas next year, but I am hearing some negativity about Ambience. I do try to block out the moaners who sweat the silly small stuff, but this feels a bit different and when you’ve paid for a cruise and veered away slightly from tried and true (P&O) which I have, you start to wonder if you have done the right thing. Anyway, I am really looking forward to part deux x

I did the other ship the last trip before the Emma cruise video when they got told at dinner their cruise was cancelled. So glad I didn't get the drinks package service was so bad. We order drinks two at a time as it took so long to serve you. Trying to get a table of 4 in bars was a nightmare to find. Buffet was cramp. The food and service in main dining was good but I would never do an ambassador again.
Great vlog Jamie and I’m sorry that you were having a difficult time whilst being on a cruise which was probably the last thing you wanted to be on at that time. I was a solo on Ambience last year and I found breakfast and lunch not good experiences as the buffet was always so busy and I only ever found a place to sit on the high communal tables. I’m short and struggle to get onto bar stools. It was table service in the Buckingham Restaurant but I was always made to share. I didn’t want to. I don’t want to make small talk in the morning but I had no choice. I had second sitting for dinner and had fab table mates so always looked forward to dinner. There was water in our pool but as it wasn’t heated nobody went swimming. I really enjoyed my cruise but as it was my first, I couldn’t compare it. Last summer I went on QM2. An entirely different experience altogether! Can’t wait for part two.
So sorry for your loss my granddaughter lost all three of her pet rats over 12 months with cancer her mum and dad knew how close she was to her babies she has there ashes in her room she was heartbroken like you xxx sending love

Even accounting for your sadness when things are likely to irritate more it didn't look like a great start. Heaving buffet areas, no seats in the bar and no water in the pool would have annoyed me. I was tempted to try Ambassador as they seem good value but I'm going to stay clear. I don't think they're for me.

I haven’t watched the whole video yet; the ship looks very similar to the Fred Olsen fleet, which suits us. We love cruises, but are constantly annoyed by the fact that most ships sail from Southern ports. We live in Greater Manchester, so Liverpool is our ideal embarkation point, but cruises from there are few and far between! Tilbury would be too much of a trek for us. Southampton is quite a straight forward journey, but it’s around 250 miles away. We usually stay at a Premier Inn on the way down. We need more cruises from Northern ports!

We have been on both ships now and certainly this is the worse of the two. Perhaps some of the problems you experienced were because of the transfer but we for instance were appalled at the breakfast arrangements and how busy it was
I’d hate a buffet for breakfast, especially a chaotic one. Give me a civilised main dining room where you are served. Amsterdam is lovely, I wish it had been dry when I went, it did nothing but rain. Hope to go back soon.

We did Ambassador cruise lines last Yr for the first time it wasn't for us so sorry to say we won't be cruising with them again I'm not writing this comment to put people off going with Ambassador we just found it wasn't for us we do like a lot going on on cruise ships we just didn't feel there was enough going on for us but that's just our opinion the lay out of the Theatre/show lounge we didn't like we witnessed a couple of people not happy when someone sat in front of them in the what we would call bucket seats we couldn't get our heads round who ever thought of the idea putting them seats in front of the back rests seats we witnessed on a couple of occasions people putting bags or carridigans on the seats in front of them so no one would sit in front of them which was wrong.
I sailed with the CMV ship 🚢 on numerous cruises, loved the experience and the crew were always terrific💐✔️
Now it is the QE,s with Cunard, which is lovely but just like a more upmarket CMV😊 And again the crew are wonderful.🌺✔️
Losing an animal is tough so kind regards.

I was on the cruise before you, 3 nighter to Antwerp. I definitely won't be rushing back. The check-in was very quick, and I thought the ship was very clean but that's as good as it got. The food was appalling, didn't fancy anything on the MDR menu for dinner so went to the buffet and was surprised to find exactly the same choices. The salad bar was depleted so my dinner ended up being a cheese sandwich. The following day I got some chicken which I spat out it was just gristle so I just had salad. I went ashore and found a supermarket to at least have some snacks to eat. I'm not one for shows so can't comment on the entertainment. I thought the muster drill was ridiculous, most people couldn't hear what was being said and only those at the front could see the demonstration. I enjoyed exploring Antwerp, but I won't be returning to Ambassador

I am sorry for your loss I've just experienced a loss of my own with the death of my horse Sunshine who I have had since birth till the day I lost her. Thought that always helps me would I ever want not to have known them to avoid the pain of loss? No the warmth and richness they bring to our lives is invaluable and after a little time another friend can come along not to replace whose gone but to enrich the life they and I live. Be well.

I am also a bit gutted that your experience on Ambition (so far) is the opposite of ours, we had an amazing time - but then again our cruise only held 490 or so passengers!! Service was amazing, and if I remember rightly the pools were filled (we went in November). I really hope it picks up. I do wonder if the last minute changes had anything to do with some of the last minute ship swapping issues? We have booked Ambience for Christmas next year, but I am hearing some negativity about Ambience. I do try to block out the moaners who sweat the silly small stuff, but this feels a bit different and when you’ve paid for a cruise and veered away slightly from tried and true (P&O) which I have, you start to wonder if you have done the right thing. Anyway, I am really looking forward to part deux x
Oh 490 passengers compared to our 1230? A big difference! It rarely felt like the small ship / intimate experience and alas in part 2 it’s even worse buuuuut I do point out the many positives too ❤️ I’m sure you will be more than fine but it isn’t for me 😞 Thanks for your kind comments

I did the other ship the last trip before the Emma cruise video when they got told at dinner their cruise was cancelled. So glad I didn't get the drinks package service was so bad. We order drinks two at a time as it took so long to serve you. Trying to get a table of 4 in bars was a nightmare to find. Buffet was cramp. The food and service in main dining was good but I would never do an ambassador again.
I’m hoping they’ll take on board some of the comments - I do genuinely want them to succeed

Great vlog Jamie and I’m sorry that you were having a difficult time whilst being on a cruise which was probably the last thing you wanted to be on at that time.
I was a solo on Ambience last year and I found breakfast and lunch not good experiences as the buffet was always so busy and I only ever found a place to sit on the high communal tables. I’m short and struggle to get onto bar stools. It was table service in the Buckingham Restaurant but I was always made to share. I didn’t want to. I don’t want to make small talk in the morning but I had no choice.
I had second sitting for dinner and had fab table mates so always looked forward to dinner.
There was water in our pool but as it wasn’t heated nobody went swimming.
I really enjoyed my cruise but as it was my first, I couldn’t compare it. Last summer I went on QM2. An entirely different experience altogether!
Can’t wait for part two.

Even accounting for your sadness when things are likely to irritate more it didn't look like a great start. Heaving buffet areas, no seats in the bar and no water in the pool would have annoyed me. I was tempted to try Ambassador as they seem good value but I'm going to stay clear. I don't think they're for me.

I haven’t watched the whole video yet; the ship looks very similar to the Fred Olsen fleet, which suits us. We love cruises, but are constantly annoyed by the fact that most ships sail from Southern ports. We live in Greater Manchester, so Liverpool is our ideal embarkation point, but cruises from there are few and far between! Tilbury would be too much of a trek for us. Southampton is quite a straight forward journey, but it’s around 250 miles away. We usually stay at a Premier Inn on the way down. We need more cruises from Northern ports!

We have been on both ships now and certainly this is the worse of the two. Perhaps some of the problems you experienced were because of the transfer but we for instance were appalled at the breakfast arrangements and how busy it was

I’d hate a buffet for breakfast, especially a chaotic one. Give me a civilised main dining room where you are served. Amsterdam is lovely, I wish it had been dry when I went, it did nothing but rain. Hope to go back soon.
