- I am SO excited to bring you this new festive series of my whole cruise on P&O Arcadia - a roundtrip from Southampton to Amsterdam. Come with me as I take you through my worst ever experience of the Southampton port authority, a fantastic, smooth check-in and embarkation, first impressions of my solo cabin and its location, a look around this mid-sized ship (aka the bars!), I test out the pool temperature on the first evening, head to Ocean Grill speciality restaurant, I join the choir, quit the choir, re-join the choir, a day at sea, a night at Sindhu Indian restaurant, sail through some rocky English Channel seas, and then some beautifully calm North seas and sunny skies, PLUS I finally get dressed up on a formal night! It was also so lovely to meet so many of you onboard, and thanks if you featured in this vlog too! Christmas has truly come to Arcadia! Part 2 is set to be even better!

Hi Jamie Thank you for your vlogs they are so enlightening. We went on a Tui cruise about 20 years ago and it was dreadful but since watching your videos (and others to be honest) we have just booked 2 cruises 1 on Iona (fjords) next year and 1 on Arvia in 25 med. Which we are really looking forward to them, so thanks again for your insight. And congratulations to you both on your anniversary.

The fire drill is reminding me of my Marella Discovery American cruise in July this year. We had an engine fire in the middle of the night and were 6 hours away from port. We were relieved to make it back to the Dominican Republic although it was a long night! 😆 Very grateful to the crew for keeping us safe!

Fond memories stirred as I watched your vlog - my first cruise was on arcadia and she has a special place in my heart. Smaller ships are better in my opinion. Looking forward to part 2. Shame about suitcasegate at the start. Shame on that staff member being so rude when you did everything right.
It was awful to be accused like that when one of their staff had clearly put my case road side! Very angry 😡
Getting me in the Xmas cruise spirit - away on Sunday on Ambience for 5 night Xmas markets cruise! Waited 3 years to get back in the swing because my cruise on C&M Columbus in 2020 was cancelled due to covid (got a lot to answer for). Going with my lovely daughter, Michaela, and am getting quite giddy with anticipation. 🎉😊

Another fabulous introduction to Arcadia. I was wondering why people don't book Sun deck cabins as they normally are the Last to be booked. Now everyone will be booking them due to the extra space.
I'm aboard Arcadia in 4 days and really looking forward to be back. The reviews of the wines are informative, however I think you should include the term Cheeky occasionally.
For me being Ship crazy you manage to make us watchers feel as if we're on board with you, we'll done Shipmate.

Hi Jamie, when is the 2nd part of the Arcadia, and are you going to use the restaurant included in the price so we can see what the food is like, enjoying your blogs, Andy.
The next part is on Saturday (although ship tour on Wednesday). I only used MDR for breakfast and lunch on this cruise
FIRM egg! Runny makes me shudder. To be safe, I have scrambled with a cooked breakfast.
Even scrambled egg onboard is a bit sloppy sometimes lol
Brilliant vlog Jamie. The ship looks brilliant for her age. Pity you couldn't of used the bell in your corridor to disturb the neighbours. Definitely has to be firm eggs for me. The Sindu meal looked delish. But did notice on the menus that you showed us that there is a truck load of dishes I wouldn't be able to eat due to allergies (a long list of allergies) restaurants hate me. Keep being you, love the innuendos. Like you decide if you want to spend extra on specialty dining, I think I certainly would to do the specialty dining. Definitely not a fan of formal nights here. Look forward to the next vlog.

Totally agree with you re a pianist not singing! We had one on Iona and so many people were complaining. Midnight in the Crows Nest and you just want some quiet background tinkling piano music before bed, not someone thumping the keys and trying to sing, and I do mean trying as it wasn’t good. I gave my feedback after the cruise but clearly they haven’t listened! Ironically he was a good pianist…just stick to what you can do well!

Always enjoy your vlogs, Jamie. I see you pre-booked Sindhu. Any idea of how far in advance you can do that? I’ve looked on the cruise personaliser for our 4-night trip to Holland on Aurora at the end of March, and all it says at the moment is “coming soon”.

For info. The horizon is now on the App ,it was on ventura so except it will be on the rest of the fleet soon.

Arcadia looks great! Didn't think your cabin looked that dated at all. We took a cruise on Azura recently and felt that the interior looked and felt much more dated overall!
Azura definitely needs some tlc from what I’ve seen!

My first P&O cruise was on Arcadia way back in 2007. I've never seen valet parking for mobility scooters before or since! But it was a great cruise.

2015 we went on Arcadia for 26 nights trip of lifetime to New York along eastern coast to Canada, was fantastic so this brought back so lovely memories ❤

@@TravelBlogJamie yes enjoyed it a lot (though bit of a bun fight sometimes getting a table in the MDR) but for the price no complaints and I thought the entertainment was top notch. Currently on Cunard Queen Victoria which is absolutely beautiful though more expensive too of course.
