I was lucky to pickup a return for 1/3 off the price last year but I have the 2017 model which had Rosewood Fretboard, but I believe these guitars, are one of the best bang for your dollar, pound or whatever, the quality is amazing, I am upgrading my humbuckers though the stock are really good, I am looking for a more blues sound ,
@@montewalsh5038 I don't have the guitar anymore but your right blues is in the hands, still a great guitar, I have a Strat type guitar, I am more advance player then I was back then, if I had the guitar today I most likely would not make that comment as I did two years ago I still say it's a great guitar, it's designed for fast play along the neck, but the Quantum Humbucker's are brilliant who knows might get another Ibanez one day in the future
Does it? I could only find the purple in the archives on Ibanez's site, the current version only includes the blue, brown and grey. Which sucks because I would have loved the purple!
@@sugarwookiee I'm not sure if it is still available as the first time I saw the purple was on a 2017 video, my advise would be to google it and see if it is still available at some online music shops. I also love the purple.
@@sugarwookiee Just a head's up, I managed to pick one up from our local online guitar dealer, they got in touch with Ibanez, seems their was still stock avalible, it all depends on the number of guitars that was shipped to your location, so migth be worth getting in touch with Ibanez to verify, getting mine on Tuesday. :)

Excellent review man. Lookin at getting my first electric after playing acoustic for a cple of yrs. I was torn btwn the RGA42FM and one of the S series Ibanez guitars; the S521to be precise. After watching several reviews on both guitars (which is all i can do as i live miles from any guitar stores) I was still undecided. Your review has tipped me towards the RGA tho. Coming from acoustic i wanted something nice and light, which is why i like the superslim body of the S521, which apparently weighs less than two and half kilo's, incredilbe. Yet the RGA's body is still very slim and i'm guessing it's probably only marginally heavier. Aside from that I'm liking the RGA's looks a little more. There is very little price difference between the two so that's not really a factor, just comes down to personal preference in the end. Thanks for your informative review.
For anyone else wondering about them, I tried this guitar yesterday in the store, with a JVM amp, and found the pickups to be okay. Maybe it's the parallel coil function or whatever, but I had a bit more trouble than with other split-humbucker guitars when trying to get a tone closer to single coils. It feels a bit limited in that regard. But overall I'd say the quality is similar to what you'd find on other models around the same price. Of course, you can get more out of it with a set of pickups that cost 2/3 of this whole guitar. At this price, a guitar has to have good basics tho, imo: Playability, looks, neck profile you like etc. Pickups or tuners will always be something you might wanna upgrade eventually.
I've been warned about the neck being really aimed towards a real shredder style. Is it really a potential issue for someone used to a different style neck? I've been suggested the Harley Benton CST-24T instead. Also a great guitar for the price. Mainly for the neck issue.
Hi! I want to buy this guitar or a Harley Benton CST-24T , which one should I buy? I'm using an sss fender and I want a stronger sound, my infrastructure is ready for use with pedals. Which should I get?
PMD hey! Yeah its a perfect beginners guitar, not too heavy, main thing is give the neck a feel, sit down with it and make sure you like how its balanced and the feel of it
This would be an amazing guitar for your first one. It has a fixed bridge so tuning will be stable, it's super lightweight and also super easy to play. Plus if you really had an issue w the sound you can always swap the pickups later when you build your chops up
I just recently purchased this model. I have a question hope you could help me out. I havent done any set up yet. Is the bridge really high up from the body? The strings are actually far from the frets starting from 12th fret. What happens if ilower the bridge? Thanks in advance. New friend here.
Congrats! I find generally the guitars come setup a bit high from the factory/store.... try lowering each saddle a little bit, small adjustments, until you are happy... if you start to get fret buzz, the truss rod may need a tweak also...good luck!
@@SeanBodleyGuitarist sadly, both of them can really make me smile. I wish you could tell what will give me more smile because of better sound and specs
I went a year without an Ibanez and tried the world of Les Paul style guitars, and I am for certain an Ibanez strat man.
I did the same, but went for Fender.Terrible .Im happy Ibanez have me back.
Just picked up one of these in Dragon Eye for $250 American. Love the RG line! Nice review, thanks.
Thanks for the demo and comments....you sound and play great man!

That nice Satch sound.
Awesome review bro! I love it!!!

Great demo. How would you rate the ibanez pickups? Are these alright or would the guitar benefit from having dimarzios?
ThisisDan hey....they are passable, but yeah, a good set of Dimarzio’s would make a big difference

Nice video mate, loved it. btw, the correct pronounce of ''jatobá" is "Jahtowbah".

imbrawler dubz it’s fine for blues/jazz etc. Typical thinner Ibanez style neck, but it won’t limit you to metal/shred
Is the body much thinner than a strat? Looks very thin and comfortable
Pretty much exactly as thick as a Fender strat. Only in the middle though, it's thinner around the edges due to the arched top.

Hi, I don't have any experience with Harley Bentons sorry, they look great tho!
Nice review! Would you mind sharing what you used to record? Apologies if you said it in the video and I missed it. Thanks.
Hi, im playing direct into the Boss Katana Artist, and then into Logic Pro X... cheers!
Do you think suitable for beginner with poor back? How is the weight? AUD599 seems a common price in Oz.

What's AMP do you used for this nice demo
Romain Delas cheers...I used a Boss Katana Artist
What do you think about the wood of the fingerboard (jatoba), about its sound, how does it feel to the touch?
It’s nice, similar to rosewood
Is this something worth looking at for a first guitar?

Btw, how’s the fretboard? I’ve heard Jatoba can be a bit dry and rough
Seems fine... then again, it is new... but id say condition it like a rosewood board and it will last forever!
If I wasn’t watching the video, I’d be sure it was Joe Satriani who was jamming. 😃👍
