For anyone else who is somehow still building this.
The wiring that comes with the EZ mod for the LS,DP,RS switch does not fit into the current Brook UFB with pre-installed headers. Jasen plugs this in at 2:25:15.
The current UFB with pre-installed headers does not have a molex connector for LS,DP,RS. It has a pin header, and the pins are very close to the pcb, height-wise.
You can get the EZ mod wiring to fit, but you will have to shave away at the molex plastic on the cable. And even then, you will have to plug it upside down, so LS and RS will be switched.

Only on the UFB? It doesn’t have to be flipped on the EZ mod as well?

If you have the tools, the Brook UFB uses a Dupont connector for the LS/DP/RS selector.
Also for anyone reading this, the video assumes you did not rip out all the terminal blocks in the stick. The home button (and one of the grounds on that 3pin connector) needs to be connected to the terminal block of the UFB. The touch pad and LEDs directly connect via JST connectors. Keep in mind, if the UFB is is Xbox One mode the LEDs will not turn on. Hold 3P (HP, Fierce P) while plugging it in to force Xbox 360 mode where the LEDs will work.
      Edit: Minor corrections
If you want just a home button, on the original board solder wires from GND (first column, second pin) and XGUID (second column, first pin), then run them to the Brook board terminal block (PSHOME and GND). This only works on 360 models though.

I'm installing a TE EZ MOD board in my Rd 1 (PS3) Mad Catz joystick.
The biggest frustration is the lack of internal room for the Brooks board.
You have to make your own space in the TE R1/2 case.
You simply can't leave the inside of the TE in stock condition and have to cut away a lot of away under the buttons (at least 40%) of the middle plastic to create space to fit the Brook board so that it doesn't get crushed by wiring; that also allows space for your buttons to fully depress! I would recommend cutting the plastic on the inside with a saw and scoring tool for plexiglass after you completely disassemble the case. There's no control with a Dremel and while it may be faster it makes a HUGE mess as it heats up the plastic and releases toxic gas, too! The cuts with the saw and scoring tool are far more precise and create less mess.
You simply cannot make the cuts you need to make safely without taking the TE case apart.
    ***************
    ***************
I've had problems with the TE even when I didn't attempt mods. The issue with wiring bundling under the buttons has always existed with this Mad Catz style of joystick. Externally, the TE Rd 1 is a beautiful joystick case but inside it's among the most cramped, least mod-friendly joystick case styles I own.
You wouldn't have to do this amount of case modding with an HRAP 1-3 plastic case. That had a LOT of internal space without that blasted middle spacer (the plastic with the round holes that mimic the 30mm pushbuttons) Mad Catz insisted on for the Rd 1 and Rd 2 joysticks.
P.S. -- I'm glad I watched this video. I saw EXACTLY where I had to cut the SJ2 trace on my EZ MOD PCB and it clarified something about the lock switch being TOO TALL on the EZ Board (although I already cut the Lock switch on the EZ board down to fit my TE PCB cover).
Jasen also answered a question I had about these G-Damned Brooks screw terminals. They work completely different from terminals I've used in the past. So, lower the "elevator," then raise it to "trap the wire"? How many people do you suppose have been screwed up by THAT stupid detail?!? It has to be several dozen. Brooks really should bring to the consumers' attention HOW this stupid screw terminal works. I'm sure lots of people have bought the 20-pin harness for the Brooks board because they got frustrated by the terminal screws.
In all honesty, if you have the $13, buy the stupid 20-pin harness and save yourself AT LEAST 40minutes work if you're "an ordinary mortal." The 20-pin harness is also a cleaner installation than most of us will achieve.
In the TE Rd 1, I think the power for the EZ Mod Board comes through the 4-pin cable used to activate the Turbo function, doesn't it? I was wondering how the board would be powered otherwise.

Hey man I just got the Brook Zero-Pi Easy for my Madcatz TE R1 for PC. Do you know how to solder the usb cable on the pi board? Next to the USB socket it has five unlabeled holes, is the square hole used for the SGND? Then what colors should I solder?

Pixelhans - Yes; just keep in mind that you may need to solder a JST connector onto the retro board where Turbo goes and Player LEDs (which just indicate board mode not player number)
