- Can you believe it’s been ninety years since the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso was first introduced? Feels like only a decade shy of a century ago. Of course, not being at least ninety myself, the genesis of perhaps Jaeger-LeCoultre’s most famous watch is not a memory I share-but nevertheless it turned out to be a pretty big moment for the watchmaker’s watchmaker. Here are five bonkers facts about the Reverso to celebrate.

It amazes me that these were used as a G-Shock back then.
Divers were more like G-shock's , the Reverso was a Dres-Shock. Idk I just think that the G-shocks are too big to be compared to the Reverso.
😆
@@Luceked The Rolex Oyster already existed, but full on dive watches definitely came way later.
@@Luceked The guy on the video did say that the Reverso is a sports watch and not a dress watch, which would make the Reverso a Sports-shock, not Dress-shock watch. But you are right about the G-shock, you cannot compare the two. There is something gimmicky about the G-shock, whereas the Reverso is just sheer class.
@@JamesAlexander14 I agree.
I bought my first Reverso literally last week, a Small Seconds Duoface. Loving it!
Enjoy, wear it in good health :)
Literally?
I bought my small second duo last month, literally.
Congrats! I got one too and share the same joy. Enjoy!
Lucky man
I swear the timing couldn’t be any better. I just came back from the JLC boutique after taking a look at the Reverso Tribute Duoface in blue dial.
That is my absolute favourite. Haven't seen one in the flesh but I've adored it since it was released. One of the all time best looking watches for me.
I don't think any collection is complete without one.
absolutely my favorite one. Congrats Solid!
I have one and I love it
Just bought one a few days ago!
WatchFinder to me is always like a professor teaches lessons. I enjoy it as always.
I love my Reverso day/night duoface. I feel very lucky to own one. The medium case is perfect for everyday wear and without doubt, is one of THE design classics of the last 100 years 👌
Man if these survived as Gshock’s back then, they can still survive as such now. Amazing how cool this is
At last. The Reverso! Love them
Yes yes yes! 😍😍
I love all of the facts and history. Thank you for you beautiful presentation!
Another excellent instalment. Glad to see the subs quickly nearing 1M too!!
Amazing history and tribute to a remarkable watch! Very, very interesting and well done presentation! Thank You!
One of the best videos. The watches featured weren't pristine polished marvels like most videos.. but better! I've always loved the reverso.. and I think it'll be my next time piece. Watch finder had plenty in their stock to choose from too! Love the content you produce!
Great story on the Reverso. Knew some aspects but not as many as detailed on this video. Thank you.
Dear God love love this channel! So entertaining. My mind is continuous blown away by the beauty of these time pieces
Excellent video. Waiting to collect my Classic Large Small Seconds from Mappin & Webb in Glasgow. It came back to the shop after 5 months away for engraving at JLC in Switzerland just as lockdown arrived late December. By the time I get it it’ll have been 8 / 9 months since I’ve seen it. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and I can’t wait to see the engraving.
Perfect timing, I just bought an older Reverso Grand Taille. It's quite the timepiece.
Another amazing video with a ton of history and technology. You are making history buddy
Thank you so much...Mr w finder.
For uploading a nice video again
Excellent as always....I love how it came back in style. Maybe there is a chance I'll wear that expensive suit again after all!
Thanks "Hands"....another great journey worth sitting down for 10 minutes for!
Next level of classics! Imagine a Patek owned by JLC
The best watch channel on RUclips. Amazing video keep them coming 👊🏻
I have a tribute small seconds and it's hands down one of the best in my collection. Learned some new things here too about them.
Fascinating. One of watchmaking's greats. I'd love to see a more ruggedised, waterproof variant - a true Reverso Sport...
Well I wouldn’t. Look up Reverso Gran Sport. They were frankly hideous watches, the Reverso should stick to what it does best.
The Waterpolo version
Such great timing! Just receive a lovely phone call today from JLC HQ regarding the new Reverso Enamel from the Métiers Rares collection. Unfortunately, out of my price range at the moment - but it was wonderful none the less to receive a personal phone call from JLC. They do splendid work, supply other watch makers with supreme movements. Highly under-rated, however perfectly styled - love JLC Reverso, a true definition of the Art Deco Movement.
Thank you for this video, and all you do. I dont know why, but they often bring a tear to my eye and get me all emotional.....probably because I cant afford any of these beautiful timepieces
I liked that “panic stations” and most of all, the whole content of the great Reverso…. thanks WF
Wow. There was so much I didn’t know. Thank you!
Amazing material about an amazing watch!
Wonderful review!
Absolutely beautiful pieces ❤️
Loved this video- on my third playthrough now. Please consider doing a similar piece on the Cartier Tank Basculante.
Love the b-roll! Feels like a watch history lesson.
My 1st Reverso (blue dial monoface small seconds) arrived yesterday. I love this very classy watch. Now I'm in the hunt for a Duoface.
Thank You for Your work!
Finally. The iconic reverso! Excellent narration as always. 👌
almost had a heart attack seeing the A.S. Roma footbal club logo decorating a JLC back
Wow what a surprise to see this video! Ordered my tribute duoface yesterday!!
Beautiful video. Congrats
Just bought a reverso tribute moon yesterday. It’s a masterpiece.
I love the Reverso on a Casa Fagliano strap
These kind of stories are fascinating.
Always wanted one. Now I REALLY want one.
I'd love to hear about the Seiko and Giugiaro partnership, if possible.
Brilliant Vid !
Thanks for the amazing lesson !, 100%
The Reverso is STILL a favorite in my collection, if I had to thin out the collection it would be among the last to go, with only my DW5000 Gshock beating it due to memories connected with it
Hey Watch Geek!!!!
Love your videos
@@Techwant7070 thanks 😊
One of my dream watches, I like the Tribute Burgundy among others.
Another cool video. I’ve always liked the Reverso. Maybe I’ll get one some day.
Man I love the Reverso!!!
My dream watch. I love it.
Interesting review. Regards.
Awesome stuff.
The Duoface is like… absolute magic. Do I even need to discuss Hybris Mechanica?
Love this guy
This is a masterpiece of storytelling.
Holy crap! One of "The Persuaders" brought the Reverso back to life? Nice!
Happy birthday Reverso
I love Art Deco watches
Thank you for this history
That's one classy watch.
This is the year I buy my Reverso, can’t wait !
Reverso is an absolute favourite, and essential watch for those who can afford one
Very nice video of a very nice watch with a very intriguing history, thanks !
I am Italian and own one of the 200 "revived" Reverso that Giorgio Corvo, at the time the Italian importer of JLC in the early 70s, the last part of the story you told..
Thanks to his intuition the Reverso series was resumed, you missed to mention that because of his finding of 200 1930s cases but NOT the old movements, he fitted into these 200 (that he sold in a month as you correctly stated) a JLC K840, the best caliber they could find at JLC in 1970, that could fit into that case.
Thanks again, for the nice video
Wow, it's amazing that you have one of 200 of those revival Reversos! Does it still run well? Do you wear it often?
@@RebuildingSaad Hi, sure, it runs very well, I had it also overhauled. After all is a mechanical vintage watch like many others, that should run well, if well mantained. I wear it as all my other watches, one day every 4-5 months, I love it.
@@probype thank you for letting me know! Happy wearing. =)
Very interesting facts.
As a proud owner of a Reverso, I concur.
A QE2 engraved enamelled limited anniversary edition would be pretty sweet 👍
Amazing video tribute to an amazing piece.
The Reverso is now my only luxury watch. With all that has been happening to Rolex owners. I decided to sell my Rolex collection and also my other luxury brands I'm now 10 watches lighter with a considerably healthier bank balance. My Reverso has a SS bracelet I feel safe wearing it in public as when reversed it looks like an ordinary man's bracelet.
Damn you! My mind is blown and now I have no mind...
Brilliant!
I‘d like to see a feature of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tondagraph GT in Rosé Gold
Nice piece, Andrew. Although, the idea that the Queen will be around for the Reverso centenary is possibly a little over optimistic.
After watching this, feel like buying another reverso although already owned one grande reverso duo face.
Fascinating
This guy is damn good at this !
i will 100% buy the 100 year old reverso tribute when it comes out. If only i can start putting my name in the waiting list now.
Awesome...
The tribute collection is most impressive, year on year.
I hear form the JLC AD that there is gonna be a green Reverso tribute this year soon.
Mind. Blown.
Great, but certainly not when coupled with a smokin' packet of those Johan Player Specials. A totally outrageous combo.
Very nice.. but.. you could have shown us the reversing mechanism in action 🤔🤔🤔
The design flaw on the Reverso hardly anyone is willing to discuss is the terrible legibility on the dial when the case is flipped.
hahaha
just thx. learned some.
Reverso complications are always horological triumphs. They represent 30% of my collection.
I'd rather spend my money on JLC than a Rolex, Rolex may dominate the watch industry, but JLC is the watchmakers watchmaker.
Won't Rolex be better investment tho?
@CA_786 watches are jewellery not investments. Compared to property, shares and even art they perform poorly as an asset class.
@@NewerasameareaThere are many who would disagree with that. It depends, like a lot of things, on what part of the market you’re dealing in.
@@thethirdman225 im talking as an asset class overall not cherry picking successes. Anyone who disagrees hasnt seen the data.
@@Newerasamearea Once again, it depends on what section of the market you’re in. I can put my name on the list to buy a Rolex and sell my spot when the time comes to pick it up. All that without spending a cent.
I agree that investment doesn’t translate across the market but the same is true of cars. On the other hand, if there was no money in watches, Watchfinder probably wouldn’t exist.
At 6.10 in an old 30s advert it reads that the Reverso had a sapphire crystal. "Wow!"
What to buy a reverso classic large small seconds used really bad....
I don’t have the $5k so I’m looking everywhere to get one used....
Greg
very comprehensive history
what a story!
100 years from now, guys will be wearing G-Shocks with tuxedos.
And the G-Shocks will be even bigger...
@@Luceked and tuxedos will be made of a shiny metallic substance of course.
That just shows poor taste and a lack of good education and upbringing!
@@JamesAlexander14 what?
200 years from now the concept of time may also bygone
The Reverso is the watch I have wanted for some time - finding just the right one is the tricky bit. I want a date, a second hand, a gold case with a plain back to engrave. Plenty in steel but most gold versions have a display back. Have a Master Ultra thin which is wonderful but a Reverso will be the one I will really love. The Watchfinder page for these will be worn out by me !
Take a look at the Grande Automatique. Solid back in the classic style, dual-dial big date, small seconds with gorgeous day/night subdial, and a home time-style hideable hour hand. I have it in steel and it’s one of my favorites. Saw a gold one on ebay and Chrono24 just recently, was tempting! Still thinking about what to engrave on mine. Good luck!
@@tomangle1603 Think I have seen this on sale on Chrono24 - quite thick but very nice - have pulled trigger!
@@-triumphgt667 wow - good for you! Let us know how you like it!
@@tomangle1603 I is wonderful - I worried it might be a bit thick but in fact it is fine. I have an 8" wrist and it still looks relatively delicate - though far heavier than my Master Ultra Thin!
Very interesting and extraordinarily made video.
Too bad i can only give it 1 like.
Does jlc make reverso in that size?
Very nice review!!! Still need a face to go with the talking hands.
1:07 nice moustache by the way!
Daaaamn son that's the 2nd time in 3 years I caught a reflection .... jeeze man it's so rare, it gives me a high :D :D
Have a nice weekend.
This will be my next watch purchase. There is something enticing about owning a watch with this much history.
Breguet tradition please.
