I hope you can help me with my queries, thank you so much! ☺️👍🏼
1) Any specialty you wish so long as you meet the applicant criteria. 2) No. Non training just means you don't have a portfolio and curriculum to maintain. You won't be abandoned. 3) Yes.
Thanks a lot for this video. Can you please consider making a video about what are the essential clinical skills that one should have before their first job in the UK? Thanks again ;))
Every single one of your videos just gives me a bit more confidence when I watch them Thank you so much! I’d just like to know a bit more about the fy2 stand-alone programme. When the preferences are put out after the interview , will the rotations only be pertaining to those that are available at the time or will there be rotations available in all disciplines like surgery, medicine, a and e , etc. Also is there such a rotation called General Surgery ? Or is there a list of all the disciplines the NHS covers that I find somewhere ? My ultimate goal is to get into CST after doing an FY2 standalone , in addition to what you mentioned in this video about choosing OBG, Trauma Orthopedics , etc is there any specific advice you have for the route/ path that I’m planning to take ?
Immediate Life Support and Advanced Life Support. You will be apart of acutely deteriorating and cardiac arrest teams, for which these trainings come in handy.
This was a really enlightening video. Thank you so much for your effort. Wanted to know, how many standalone FY2 posts are available on average each year and how do the number of vacancies available for that compare with the vacancies for Fy2 level non-training posts each year?
It's hard to give a fixed number are standalones only become available if there is a gap in the foundation program, but there is always a greater availability of non training jobs to standalones.
Road to UK is there a division of FY2 level non training jobs too? For example, you mentioned, you joined at CT1. I’m under an impression that CT 1 is for those who get into training. How can one get a CT1 level non-training post before getting into the training?
There is a division of non training jobs. It can be FY1 level, ST3 level, CT1 level, etc. There is a more in-depth explanation here: ruclips.net/video/SJkSaQ5FApM/видео.html
Hi, Ibreez, thanks for an informative session! I'm interested in pursuing an Emergency Medicine Non training FY2 post as my first job in the NHS (to get CREST signed and gain subsequent entry into ACCS EM). Do you have any recommendations of supportive hospitals for IMG doctors with only an internship experience? Which hospital did you or people you know, do your first job at? Hoping you are well!
Hello, you're welcome! I think any hospital is supportive so long as you make your intentions known of what you wish to pursue from the start. We started at Scunthorpe General Hospital (in emergency medicine as well!), but now work at Derriford Hospital.
Hello , am thinking for the same for Emergency Medicine non training FY2 post ,would you please advice me if you have done the process .am still confused when I have to apply for PLAB 2 ?.thanks

So basically, what Ibreeez apu has said is its actually better if u go through the CREST pathway provided that you are dedicated.
@@RoadToUK yeah apu....thanks for the clarification comment on facebook too. I think a pros and cons video for training vs non training post would be great to the addition (just a random thought!)
Really, the only con to a training post is if it's your first job and you may get overwhelmed. And the only con of a non training job is that your progression depends on your proactiveness.
You can get any non training post (FY1/2, CT1/2, ST1/2 etc) without CREST, but to show that you have met the equivalent competencies of your peers when you apply for ST1/CT1 training, you MUST complete a CREST form. Please also see: ruclips.net/video/_Ne0akP097k/видео.html

Apart from the education supervisor/mentor/ progress tracking and the fpcc( which is equivalent to crest) there is no other disadvantage for non training jobs? 2. You said rank is based on interview and application. What can I add to my application to increase my chances of getting into fy2 standalone? 3. If I take a non training fy2 equivalent and get a crest certificate should i join a training ct or a non training equivalent? 4. Will i be able to take mrcp if i do a non training job?
could u pls make a video about how to make a better CV ...the things which we have to build before starting the jorney...like i would like to persue dermatology.to get into that speeciality what all i can do to make my cv stand out
Hello , may you please give guidance on reference section for FY2 STANDALONE APPLICATIONS like are the referees need to be exclusively from NHS or it can be acceptable from non uk doctors as well who have supervised the applicant as per the guidelines fixed.
Thanks a lot for the clarity. Also which post would be best for drs with no experience with NHS but would like to take up a job for the first time at non training job.
Hello Dr.Ibreez, Keep up the good work 👍 One question: I graduated in 2013 and began working as a General Practitioner (GP) in 2016, continuing until October 2022. In October 2022, I transitioned to a psychiatry resident role and successfully passed Paper A of MRCPsych. I have PLAB2 scheduled for November 10, and I plan to take Paper B of MRCPsych after that (assuming I pass PLAB2). Given this background, is there a possibility of obtaining a non-training position in psychiatry without diversifying into other medical areas?
How long does it take to finish all the requirements to get the CREST form signed? Then after, applying for IMT for example, what additional things are required to have/fulfill other than CREST form?
Thank you so much for the video. I have a few questions. 1) FY2 standalone requires valid IELTS/OET scores within two years separate from the english proficiency requirement for GMC registration. Meanwhile, FY2 equivalent non-training post does not require valid IELTS/OET if I have fulfilled GMC registration. Am I correct? 2) FY2 standalone eligibility criteria includes Full GMC registration. However, doesnt IMG only get Provisional GMC registration after passing PLABs? Should an IMG apply for Full registration? 3) Can I later still apply to specialty training post instead of the equivalent non-training post even if I finish FY2 equivalent non-training post (therefore never fulfilled UK Foundation programme)? Thank you.
1) Yes. 2) No. Your registration being provisional or full is dependent on completion of an acceptable pattern of internship. 3) Yes, but you'd need to have a completed CREST form.
@@RoadToUK thanks! I'd love it if you could make a video about getting a PhD as an IMG while in training in your tier 2 visa. I know you've made a video regarding pursuing graduate studies during one's training but as i recall getting a PhD requires more commitment. Hence there's more things to take care of, like fulfilling one's minimum national pay salary while getting a phd can be difficult as one gets paid less during a PhD. So i wonder if one's visa would allow them to pursue a PhD then. I would love it if you could answer such queries!
Thank you for this great video. I wanted to know if it is important to sign off the CREST form in my home country before applying for CT1-2/ST1non-training jobs?
Great video,Just wanted to ask..If an IMG was to work through the fy1 and fy2 in a non training position with a provisional gmc registration, would the provisional licensing upgrade to a full license by the end of the two years??
@@RoadToUK Thank you for your reply. My situation is that i am an IMG without an internship.I have cleared my plab exams and am hoping to apply for an FY1 LAS program..is that possible?
Hi, thank you for all this information you put out for everyone! I was wondering if its common for a CREST form to be signed in a 6 month period in a non training post, provided you actively pursue it. Or do people commonly take a year or more to get it signed? Thank youuu
can a doctor learn skills in non training job I mean are there seniors to guide and help if a doctor is defecient in some areas or in a non training job you are on your own?
Great video! My question is if I finish a crest 2020 form but decide I want to apply for specialty training in 2022, can I use the 2020 form or should I sign a CREST form in 2021?
Currently it's been mandated that all forms that are submitted are the CREST 2020 forms and no earlier forms will be entertained. Whether or not they will keep this for the next few years remains to be seen. It's best to keep it signed though just in case it doesn't change.
When you are offered a post, you can see the rotations. If you're not happy, you can opt for an upgrade and see if you get something better. If you're still not happy with the last offer you get, you can decline the offer without a problem. Just to be clear- you don't have to do a standalone if you're already in a non-training job.
@@RoadToUK hi doc! If I do get into nontraining FY1 post, can I do FY2 standalone after? I have done internship overseas (>3 months of medicine and surgery for 12 months internship)
Thank You so much for detailed video. I have one question… 1.Internship which we do in our home country is equivalent to FY1 if it meets their criteria? 2. If it doesn’t meet…. then we have to do FY1 ? If yes then do we have to pay for that?
HI Doctor Ibreez, I am in a very big dilemma could you please help ? I booked my PLAB 2 for June 1, 2024. On the F2 Standalone page, on the timeline it's mentioned that "ESSENTIAL" criteria is to be GMC registered by August 2024. However, there's a mention of giving PLAB 2 by MAY 31st ! Should I try to prepone my PLAB 2 exam ? Its all very uncertain...
I have a question... can we apply for non training CT1 without having crest form? Or do we have to apply for non training trust grade doctor and after getting crest form signed we can apply for CT1? It's a bit confusing.
Hi Dr. Ibreez Great video 🙌 I wanted to know, when do non training FY2 posts display their vacancies? Is there fixed application time, just like FY2 Standalone or is it available all around the year, randomly??
I dont know if you guys will see this or answer tbis on an old video I want to know about non training fy2 Im assuming you thru multiple rotations in fy2 year my question is 1. Do you get to choose your rotations and are they decided for the entire fy2 once or you have to apply for new posts in different hospitals to complete your fy2 non training requirements 2. Is there a form to complete that equates us to a training fy2 (like the one thru ukfpo)
Thank you for this video. It cleared everything up for me, except one thing. Is the visa application process different between the 2 positions for IMgs? Will it be more difficult to apply for a visa when applying to non-training jobs?
I really like the way you're open about your life & career. Respect. What I want to know is: By the time I successfully complete my medical degree (By God's grace), I have to do the UKMLA. Although I am a British Citizen with an overseas medical certificate, do I still have to do IELTS?
Hey! Thank you for the video! Just one question, The ALS requirement before we start, does that have to be from UK? Or can we do that from our home country (AHA)?
1- the internship in my country is two years ... This will equivalent to fy1 and fy2 ? 2- in my country we can choose specialty residency (2 years) directly after graduate, so, is the UK admit with this residency or not ?
1) Would you get full registration after the first year or would you need to complete two years? 2) Your non UK training won't translate as years of training in the UK, but can be used as experience in a non training job.
Till when my internship (fy1 level) in my home country would have to be completed to apply and start for Fy2 standalone 2026, should it be completed before applying in January or before starting in August ???
If I start an internship in July 2022 and finish July 2023. Complete PLAB 1 in Feb 2023 due to no seats available, and then PLAB 2would I be able to apply in 2023 for a non training post starting in August 2023? Would I also have to do the SJT and Clinical assessment (graduated 2019 sept)
Great video Ibreez. It has a lot of amazing information. Really appreciate your effort. Just need to clear few things: 1. If I get my CREST form signed after 3 months in a non-training job, can I apply for run through training (or other uncoupled training) programs? Also, if I get selected in the training program, will I need to complete 12 months in the non training job before I could join the training program in the speciality? Or can I just leave the non-training job after 3 months and start my speciality training program instantly? 2. If I do FY2 standalone, can I only get my competency signed after 12 months only? Can I apply to training programs before 12 months time? Can I join the training before the 12 months time is over in FY2 Standalone? I would absolutely admire if you could answer my queries. Thank You.
Thanks for saying that. 1. Speciality training programs always starts at specific time of the year. More often than not it is always August. If you get into training, you will know it around May-June. So, you have to give your current non-training job a notice that you will be leaving them in August. Nothing is instant. 2. You can leave the training if you wish but you will not get any certificate without completing 12 months of it successfully.
Hi! Firstly I want to thank you for this video. It is really a starkling difference between UK and my country so I've been getting really confused at times about the routes I could take. I have 1 question though: I have a acceptable equivalent to Fy1 from my country. Can I proceed to CT or ST after I apply to non training jobs or do I have to still do a F2 standalone at the end to be able to enter a CT or ST? Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this valuable video but i have some qusetions If i have completed the rotation in my home country (which is equivelent to fy2 in uk) can i be still eligibale for the fy2 standalone? And the other question what protfolio criteria that should be met in order to apply for fy2 standalone ? Other that the ALS coures
Hi thanks for this video, I prefer to do FY2 standalone because I will receive my certificate late in January and I dont just want to be waiting at hime..but my question is if I can get a non training job just for six months and the employers would allow me to go after six months of moving to UK from Europe?

I was wondering if its common for a CREST form to be signed in a 6 month period in a non training post, provided you actively pursue it. Or do people commonly take a year or more to get it signed?
Thank youuu
How are you like not very famous! Thank you thank you thank you
Hahaha you're very welcome 😁
can a doctor learn skills in non training job I mean are there seniors to guide and help if a doctor is defecient in some areas or in a non training job you are on your own?
Yes you are supervised and you can work on your portfolio.
Can you, please, share with us some tips about how to have dermatology speciality after FY2 ?
👍🏻
Please how can I negotiate for a higher pay in an FY2 grade non trainee job whwn i already have over 24 months work experience
@@RoadToUK Thanks for the advice!
Can I switch later from non training to training post?
Yes!
Golden advices
Thanks for saying so!
For FY2 standalone do we need to have atleast one year of clinical experience before applying
Doc can we just be back to our country after PG in uk ? Or their are terms and conditions regarding this ?
If you wish to you can return. No one will stop you if you just make sure to resign/give notice as per your job contract.
Road to UK thank you doc ... will be grateful
Road to UK doc if I had done 1 year if FY2 then which degree I will get after this ... if I had to return back to My country
@@akankshasingh8317 You don't get any degree.
Dr , Can I reject a fy2 after accepting if the rotations are not suitable but have a non training job already
When you are offered a post, you can see the rotations. If you're not happy, you can opt for an upgrade and see if you get something better. If you're still not happy with the last offer you get, you can decline the offer without a problem.
Just to be clear- you don't have to do a standalone if you're already in a non-training job.
@@RoadToUK thank you. The only way of declining after say an unfavourable upgrade is to email them
No, you get the option in your application portal on Oriel.
Can you get a CT1 non- training job without having two years of working experience?
Yes. We started out in non training CT1 posts with just internship experience.
May I ask , that is there any chance we can skip FY2 and go directly to CT
At a non training level, you can apply to FY1, FY2, or CT1 as you feel it to be appropriate.
@@RoadToUK hi doc! If I do get into nontraining FY1 post, can I do FY2 standalone after? I have done internship overseas (>3 months of medicine and surgery for 12 months internship)
Thank You so much for detailed video.
I have one question…
1.Internship which we do in our home country is equivalent to FY1 if it meets their criteria?
2. If it doesn’t meet…. then we have to do FY1 ? If yes then do we have to pay for that?
1) Yes.
2) a. Yes.
b. No.
We'd suggest emailing UKFP to ask if this would be fine.
What if i am not satisfied with my internship in my country and want to start from Fy1 regardless?
Unfortunately that would not be possible, but you could consider the FY2 standalone.
I have a question... can we apply for non training CT1 without having crest form? Or do we have to apply for non training trust grade doctor and after getting crest form signed we can apply for CT1? It's a bit confusing.
Hi Dr. Ibreez
Great video 🙌
I wanted to know, when do non training FY2 posts display their vacancies?
Is there fixed application time, just like FY2 Standalone or is it available all around the year, randomly??
It's available all year round.
Thank you very much!
Does the Fy2 equivalent-non training job have a person specification to its application?
Yes they do.
What is ILS and ALS?
Immediate Life Support and Advanced Life Support.
Is the non training job application open throughout the year?
Yes.
I cleared my plab 1 but my OET got expired a month . So does that mean i can't apply for fy2 LAT application??
You'll need to retake it.
I dont know if you guys will see this or answer tbis on an old video
I want to know about non training fy2
Im assuming you thru multiple rotations in fy2 year my question is
1. Do you get to choose your rotations and are they decided for the entire fy2 once or you have to apply for new posts in different hospitals to complete your fy2 non training requirements
2. Is there a form to complete that equates us to a training fy2 (like the one thru ukfpo)
Non training may or may not be rotational. You complete the CREST form.
Hello! Thanks for the great informative video, i have obtained gmc registration Am i eligible for Fy2 standalone??
It's one of the requirements, but you will need to ensure you meet all the criteria to apply.
Thank you for this video. It cleared everything up for me, except one thing. Is the visa application process different between the 2 positions for IMgs? Will it be more difficult to apply for a visa when applying to non-training jobs?
No it's not different.
I really like the way you're open about your life & career. Respect. What I want to know is:
By the time I successfully complete my medical degree (By God's grace), I have to do the UKMLA. Although I am a British Citizen with an overseas medical certificate, do I still have to do IELTS?
Yes, currently it is mandatory on basis of country of graduation, rather than nationality/citizenship.
Hey! Thank you for the video! Just one question, The ALS requirement before we start, does that have to be from UK? Or can we do that from our home country (AHA)?
It needs to be under Resus UK
Thank you so much... it is amazing that you guys provide this information for free ❤️
Happy to help!
1- the internship in my country is two years ... This will equivalent to fy1 and fy2 ?
2- in my country we can choose specialty residency (2 years) directly after graduate, so, is the UK admit with this residency or not ?
Hi! I have made a medical RUclips channel. It will make studying easier for medical students. Kindly subscribe my channel.😊
1) Would you get full registration after the first year or would you need to complete two years?
2) Your non UK training won't translate as years of training in the UK, but can be used as experience in a non training job.
@@RoadToUK 1-its need to complete two years and then get registration
@@RoadToUK Beside, if someone want to finish his/her internship not in his/her origin country, GMC will accept with this situation or not ?
So long as your internship meets the GMC criteria, and you can legally work/do internship in that country, it does not have to be your home country.
Hello. If I would apply to a FY2 standalone in 2025, would I be able to apply to psychiatry CT1 the following year?
Till when my internship (fy1 level) in my home country would have to be completed to apply and start for Fy2 standalone 2026, should it be completed before applying in January or before starting in August ???
If I start an internship in July 2022 and finish July 2023. Complete PLAB 1 in Feb 2023 due to no seats available, and then PLAB 2would I be able to apply in 2023 for a non training post starting in August 2023? Would I also have to do the SJT and Clinical assessment (graduated 2019 sept)
Great video Ibreez. It has a lot of amazing information. Really appreciate your effort.
Just need to clear few things:
Standalone is not mandatory. The other route is feasible.
Can we apply for both FY2 standalone and non-training jobs? or is there any restriction?
Yes you can.
So I can’t apply for fy2 stand-alone with Oet below 400 ?
No.
Is it easy for someone who doesn't have ILR/Citizenship to get a CST 1/ST 1 training position?
Please see: ruclips.net/video/3pNtcSydPTE/видео.html
Thank you so much for this valuable video but i have some qusetions
If i have completed the rotation in my home country (which is equivelent to fy2 in uk) can i be still eligibale for the fy2 standalone?
And the other question what protfolio criteria that should be met in order to apply for fy2 standalone ? Other that the ALS coures
Hi thanks for this video, I prefer to do FY2 standalone because I will receive my certificate late in January and I dont just want to be waiting at hime..but my question is if I can get a non training job just for six months and the employers would allow me to go after six months of moving to UK from Europe?
Do you mean break your contract early while doing a standalone?
@@RoadToUK yea, breaking early while doing a training job.
How are you apu??
How you improve your accent??
Now,you are sounding like a native speaker..
Did I not sound like a native speaker before ;) ?
@@RoadToUK Yes apu.You are sounding like a native speaker..Your accent is fabulous.. Could you suggest me some tips to improve my accent???!!!
Can I apply for FY2 standalone without any work experience in my home country?
Yes, as long as you have completed an acceptable pattern of internship.
Thank you @@RoadToUK
Hello dr ibreez, thanks for informative video, can u please explain if i have got gmc registration Am i eligible to apply for Fy2 standalone
It's one of the requirements, but you will need to ensure you meet all the criteria to apply.
I have a score of 370 in one module of OET and 400 in other 3. Can I apply for fy2 stand alone training post.?
No.
Hi Ibreez
Really great vedio , U guys are gems 💎
I have just one question : U said that getting an FY2 standalone job/getting the desired rotations in your FY2 standalone totally depends on your rank* , Well can U plz briefly elaborate that what's gonna make my rank? I mean what's the criteria for making merit rank in FY2 application 🙏 Thanks Again
As mentioned in the video, your SJT score and interview.
