I hate to be a bad news Bear. But I think your shop website is broken. Have been trying and trying and keep getting 504 error. Have tried home wifi, work internet, cell phone data, ECT (so I know its not just a my connection thing)
A small detail from a revolver shooter: on the cylinder the "T" shaped indents are where the cylinder locks into the frame. Cylinders develop a polished band from rotating against the spring loaded pin in the frame. Just one of those little extra realism details. Thank you for making such fantastically entertaining content!
As a sound person for decades I appreciate that you care about your sound quality. And I am glad you showed that last bit maybe some other folks on RUclips will pay a little attention to their soundtracks!
I am so glad Bob from I like to make stuff reminded me about you guys. I was subscribed on my old account and then forgot to resubscribe after I switched to this one. Now I can catch all the amazing prop content again.
It is such a delight to see process videos where the maker points out mistakes they've made. It's more helpful and realistic than editing them out as if they don't happen.
Wow, this is a straight up Master Class on how to make an amazing prop replica; electronics, wood carving, pro painting and more. So great Bill, thank you for what you do!
This video was worth the wait, everything on this turned out amazing! It's wild what just one weathering pass like that can do. Thanks for sharing this with us, can't wait to see what's next. (The mystery of the lighted bullets is solved too; That approach to use the magnets to complete the circuit is super-clever.)
Fantastic build! Loved the whole section with the LEDs as I used to prototype LED pieces for a miniature rpg terrain company. One of the prototypes I originally created involved soldering wires to tiny neodymium magnets just like you have and discovered the same issue with demagnetizing due to heat. We eventually went with a socket system. One of the little tricks I used with ensuring magnets were aligned properly afterward is to use a marker to mark the faces that connected.
I gotta say: the way Bill explains everything and gets so excited about the props, is really contagious! Man, every time I watch one of your videos, I feel this URGE to build stuff! xD
Dear Bill. I just wanted to say that Prop design and modification is one of my passions but I do not currently have the income to follow my dreams, So I love to watch your videos and live vicariously through you. You always seem to get that feeling like a kid in a candy shop and it totally shows through in your videos in such a way that gives me that same feeling. it's obvious that you love tinkering with props, and watching your videos I can feel that passion shining through with every scratch of sandpaper, every brushstroke, every little pat of rub and buff brings with it a sense of anticipation and a tremor of excitement. That is what makes you such an amazing content creator and always keeps me coming back for more, Sometimes I'll even watch the same video more than once and it never gets old. I always look so forward to getting to sit down and watch your videos. That High I get while watching you just makes my day, sometimes even my whole month.
Honestly, this is my dream movie prop, too. The design is so clean and slick and fits perfectly in the universe it was made for. This prop is probably second, if not tied, with making my own lightsaber.
Oh my gosh! You glued the pieces back to it to cut the other side out! My mind is blown. I've been in that exact situation more than a couple times and never thought of doing that. Well now I know!
I love the light system you made for the bullets. To make it easier to get the magnets slightly protruding to make contact, model in a slight standoff in the discs to keep the magnets above the surface. You can sand the standoffs down once the magnets are set. Also could round them a little and put an indentation in the opposite plate to give them a mechanical key along with the magnetic fit. Another option would be to have the top contacts spring fit and just the 2 magnets to hold the plate down.
Great job with the bullet lights. This was so much fun to watch. It turned out amazing. Also love seeing how the kit was engineered. Harrison really knocked it out of the park. Now I need to come see this in person!
Awesome job! One of my favorites. Just a helpful tip from a woodworker, the next time you make a sword/knife/handgun grip, you might find that if you cut the wood so that the grain runs vertically (aka along the length of the grip) instead of horizontally you might find that it is more esthetically pleasing (but also stronger if it were a real firearm/weapon). Thanks for the vid,
I love that this includes a spring for the trigger. I know some conventions don't like you to have gun props with moving triggers through even if the weapon doesn't fire, so it might be an issue if you use it as a cosplay replica, but great for just flexing at home.
Cool! One thing to be aware of is it doesn't look like the solder actually wet on the magnet which means it's not adhered very well and the joint will likely fail over time. Cleaning the surface of the magnet and using a good quality soldering flux will help with that issue.
Yep thats a beautiful kit..I was suprised the bullets casings were not hollow and the bullets lipped to fit inside... love the 3d printed LED mod. Wonderful prop all rounnd!
Thanks much, Bill! I picked up a Good Samaritan from Volpin, and followed your guide. It looks freaking awesome! But I couldn't get the casings right for LEDs. Thanks again. Love your work!
My dream prop kit would be the Ma'Tok from Stargate, with opening/closing end and sounds and LED's for effects. Great work on your builds. I love watching them and learning different techniques that I might finally use one day. :)
When soldering to magnets or any nickel coated parts, you can either sand them or use special soldering acid that will rough up the surface and allow for more secure connection and easier soldering.
I love these videos so much! They have inspired me to pursue a career in Prop making. This project was super cool. I think that if he added some black paint as "gun power burns' at the end of the barrel and where the bullets are it would have really sold the effect of it being a real gun. I still think that it looks amazing. Keep up the amazing work guys!
To not risk demagnetizing, you could use some electrically conductive glue to attach the wires to the magnets, I would still use solder for the other connections though
They're often referred to as "helping hands" and there are a million variants out there. I have a tiny one with two hands and a magnifier that I got for like ten bucks on sale and it's wonderful; you can see Bill's is much more complex but probably also has a lot more versatility than mine does. Search for "solder helping hands" or something similar and you'll find lots of options.
Nice, using "magnet wire" to solder to magnets! Padauk is a very oily wood. Something like Oak or Maple wouldn't have clogged up your tools. Also something to be aware of is that most exotic hardwoods have fairly toxic saps (to keep insects from devouring them) so the sanding dust can be hard on your lungs. All dust is hard on the lungs but the exatics can actually get you in the emergency room. On the up side they look fantastic! If you want to try "hard" wood get a piece of ebony! Like working with a hunk of steel.
Ooh yeah I know that it's a bad idea to just run weird hardwoods through a laser cutter for fear of vaporizing toxic chemicals. I was really good about dust collection when I was working on the padouk.
Amazing! I always look forward watching you build props. They're very thorough and they're like how-tos. On that note, produce more content. I hate waiting for like 2 to 3 weeks on build videos. LOL!

Ive always wanted to see a really really proper and well designed series of Metroid Props, like the Glass container with the baby metroid in it, or armcannons and visors.
You should do a wet sand on that handle with some linseed oil and a piece of 600 grit sandpaper. The combination of sawdust and linseed oil will fill all the holes and pores in the wood and make it incredibly smooth. It also looks amazing when you are done.
I would have to say this is one of my favorite videos on your channel. My dream prop to make and perfect is the First Blade and the demon Blade from Supernatural. 3D printed and used some of your weathering techniques on a test First Blade but didnt take my time and make it look pretty before I painted it so will have to do another one.
I feel your pain with the car alarm. A bunch of folks and I were doing a preview performance for a play (Billy the Bard's 'Measure for Measure' for the curious*) in a local park, when a car alarm went off, repeatedly, throughout the performance. However, the show must go on, and so we did. *no, we did not wearth our mothers' drapes.

Quick question: how does the barrel look like? In the one shot it looked a bit plasticky, and I remembered from one of Adam Savage's videos that he sometimes inserts a bronze or copper tube to make it look more realistic :) Wonderful work, Bill & Britt, as always!

The inside of the barrel on this kit is really amazing. It has a spiral rifling pattern molded into the plastic. I don't think we got a great shot of it in the video, but it's really neat.
Punished Props Academy hey Bill isn’t the medallion on the handle for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense insignia/crest craved on the handle?
You should consider using a product called "lin-speed" oil to finish the wood. It is a fast drying oil that is used for finishing gun stocks. Cheap, easy to use, and looks great. You can get what ever level of shine that you want. Try it, it will make those stocks look gorgeous.
Your channel is one of three that i watch and i would love it if punished props, jazza, and colinfurze would do a collaberation.🤓enventions, props, and art.
Hey Punished Props, great video. I'm making a full Mandalorian cosplay and was wondering, what would be a strong glue to keep straps on the foam permanently?
Andrew dft has a tutorial on that, look for one of his odst cosplay video. But is basically cut a notch in the foam, use hot glue to attach the strap, and then glue on top the foam that you cut before. Good luck
Not long done printing out the Mandalorian Rifle, Blaster and Knife; as well as the Blade Runner Deckard's Blaster (my dream kit). Four more items added to my "Really must paint and weather these" pile. I'll get around to Blade Runner 2049 K's Blaster at some point too, but I'm torn as to doing Luv's Blaster also.
I had paint stripping from the base colour to the plastic with my Warhammer Minis I run a Winter theme on em so pants and helmets are white, And I use a oil based weathering colour so I go in with thinner to remove most of the oil colour and I see the bear plastic starts showing up on the helmet... I was using a base colour that was new to me lucky I can still use it on my tanks cuz I do not weather em the same way.

You should consider using a product called "lin-speed" oil to finish the wood. It is a fast drying oil that is used for finishing gun stocks. Cheap, easy to use, and looks great. You can get what ever level of shine that you want. Try it, it will make those stocks look gorgeous.
That's awesome, thanks for the tup!
Your channel is one of three that i watch and i would love it if punished props, jazza, and colinfurze would do a collaberation.🤓enventions, props, and art.
We've done a few collaborations with Jazza! www.punishedprops.com/punished-props-academy-jazza-collaborations/
Love the out takes
We have a lot of fun :)
Good luck
Hey Hendrick! We did a video covering that exact topic. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/8_qxMULsR1c/видео.html
@@punishedprops Thank you!
Don't sell yourself short on the grip, Bill. Getting that shape out of padauk is awesome. SOOOO nice looking.
Thanks Tim. It was extremely challenging and I am rather proud of the form I was able to wrestle out of that chunk of padouk. =)
I appreciate these videos more now they are spread out a bit. I always look forward to the next video.
Thanks so much. =)
Yeah the build is cool af, but the best part of this video is Bill's giggling enthusiasm while unpacking
Ah yes, I forgot to warn that this video has a giggle factor of at least 9.
The Pulse Rifle from Aliens!! If there was a kit, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat!
Oooh yeah!
Very good!! 👍👍👍
Thanks very much!
