- MrBeast's close friend and colleague Chris Tyson made waves online by discussing their gender identity after months of speculation. And in response, the internet has gone after Chris while treating MrBeast as a victim. Unfortunately, this includes massive creator SunnyV2, who came out with possibly the worst video on the situation.
This is a commentary video discussing SunnyV2's video on Chris Tyson, and why I find it damaging.

I'm trans, and with the recent resurgence of transphobia, it relieves me that creators like you, Fraser, Jaubrey and TRO and even MrBeast himself are so vocally pro-transgender.

Transphobia? I have never met someone who is afraid of people like yourself. Just people who don't see any scientific basis for your obsessive narcissism.
This big recent push for transphobia is not going to end well for the transphobes. You can already see average middle of the road type people getting sick of hearing them always yapping, and you can see the politicians who hitched their wagons to the cause losing elections badly. Most people just want to be left alone, and that includes not bothering them about what someone they don't know is doing. It may take a few years, but it will result in only the hardcore actually insane terfs will stick with it, and everyone else will have seen the lesson that that is not a cause that is going to resonate in any lasting way.
The moment you bring up someone's marriage in an unrelated video is when you lose all benefit of the doubt. Like, aside from the obvious transphobia, it was REALLY uncalled for to bring it up out of nowhere.
I just watched the video and so far, he brought it up because of others mentioning it, This entire video was supposed to take a look at it beginning to end.
Personally, I don't see any "transphobia" besides maybe the end. Personally the "Nightmare" title I saw it as everyone directing hate towards Mr beast, that happened before to other people, so my guess is that the end and the nightmare title was meaning that Mr beast would get actual hate, and or harassment. Was the video correct? No. The nightmare title wasn't correct at all. Even Mr beast said he didn't care. But that's how I understood the nightmare title.
Like I said, I barely saw any transphobia, the only thing I saw that was transphobic was the tweets that people said, sunny really just read those. It doesn't mean he hates anyone. He just made a video that wasn't really correct. Labeling him transphobic I feel is inaccurate. Like I said, the only transphobic thing I saw in the video was sunny reading out things people said, he brought up Chris's family because of two reasons.
1: It was somewhat relevant since it was a timeline video
2: it was relevant because people randomly started throwing hate at him saying "Now Chris's kid can't have a father figure" many people said things like that.
So is sunny transphobic? No. He didn't even throw hate at transgender people, all he said was Chris's transition was getting hate, and therefore could go into Mr beast. Yes, he was wrong that it would, even Mr beast said he didn't care.
That's what I think. Seeing the video myself made me realize most people are blowing the video out of proportion. Take a look at the video yourself before forging a opinion, that's what I learned with this situation. You all should first check out the video.

Really, the problem I had with it was how it hardly depicted Chris as a person, more as an object to the Mr. Beast Brand. People are more than that, and the way Sunny treated it felt very unsympathetic and at times even callous. And that was especially to me when the marriage stuff was brought up, because whether people were talking a lot about it or not, it ultimately didn't add much to the point the video was making, which was referring to Chris' more feminine recent presentation. He could have just left it at mentioning his son, and not bring up the deterioration of a couple's relationship.
As someone who DID watch the video, that's how I feel about it. The "transphobia aside" was more addressing whether Sunny WAS transphobic or not.

oh I was pretty sure you did, perhaps I should've worded it better, because I wasn't directing it to you, but mostly to everyone. Because I've seen many people just start forging a opinion, based off some random guy that screams that "this dude sucks KILL HIM!!"
I can understand why you think some of it.
I feel that sunny made this video as a timeline video, it's what he usually does actually, he takes a topic, explains what happened from start to finish, it's what he does, so personally I'd say it makes sense to at least mention what was said to Chris about his child, I don't think he even said anything bad about his child or anything. All I remember is sunny saying people were starting to think Chris wouldn't be a good father.
I do think sunny shouldn't have focused as much on it, but personally I'd say it makes sense to. I have been subbed to sunny for a year or so, haven't watched anything new though from him. So I think I semi know what I'm talking about when it comes to sunny. He makes timeline videos. It's what he does.
I do think sunny did some things wrong in it, especially by saying Chris would be a nightmare to Mr beast when it's factually wrong. It won't dent his brand by any measure.
Now finally, about the "treating Chris as a thing, not a person" I'd say that yeah, that was screwed up to do. But perhaps sunny was more focused on Mr beast than Chris. So he probably ended up saying what he said without thinking. Was it wrong? Yes.
Overall I don't think sunny is a horrible person or anything, he did some things horribly wrong. But saying he's transphobic i think is wrong. I can't really recall any moment where he threw a insult towards Chris, or threw hate to the transgender people. I just think he was apathetic too much. He didn't really treat the situation with any type of care. Leading to this entire drama about this. Sunny should've treated Chris better, but I don't think it's as horrible as you may think.

Like sure, making a video about the fan reactions to Chris's transition is fine. But the video is framed like it's a big controversy when it's just Chris expressing who they are, just existing. That's what people's issue with the vid is, hope that makes sense

The worst part was when he said something like “He took a break from social media, but didn’t realise the error of his ways and continued to transition.” As if he had been suspended from work and still came back with a bad attitude! Chris is a real person and is happier now. That’s all people should care about.
He privated his social media because he had a bunch of racist tweets come out, tweets where he talks about getting turned on by animated child porn, and posted photos of his son in women's clothes. How do you not know this?

1. No the exact words he said, while admittedly strange, are a direct quote from I believe a Tyler, The Creator song. Basically the tweet was just a joke. Also there is further context that would help if I’m not mistaken.
2. So what? What are you going to do, force him to not stay with his child, like the one thing you all complain he isn’t doing?

As someone who has a trans boyfriend and has been dating them for two years before they came out, Sunny's video was just hurtful and shows why trans people have to essentially hide themselves in the first place. I'm just disappointed in Sunny.

As the father of an 8 year old who is a big Mr. Beast fan, I'm very happy for the Chris situation. My son hasn't had much exposure to the LGBT community, so seeing someone he's a fan of dealing with this sort of thing will gove my son a great opportunity to develop healthy attitudes towards people like Chris.

Apparently this isn’t even new behavior for SunnyV2. He’s made a video on someone who’s NB and even showed their pronouns in the thumbnail but still proceeded to misgender them throughout the entire video. I don’t watch the guy but it’s really upsetting that this is what it takes for people to realize that transphobia is still very prominent in today’s society. I’m honestly terrified for younger/new trans people because it was scary for me to be nb when I was in high school but I had friends and even some lovely online friends and safe places for myself but it’s becoming harder and harder to be openly trans/nb without being attacked. Sending lots of love to my fellow trans/nb folks, you’re valid and wonderful and I hope that someday we will all be able to be ourselves without fear 💕

As a GNC person who’s dating a trans guy, I’m just pissed at this whole situation. I’ve unfollowed probably half a dozen commentary channels after this, including SunnyV2, which sucks because I really liked his content
I really liked Sunnyv2 because in general I like commentary that covers more topics or topics after they resolved. But that video was so increadibly disgusting. Calling Crhis an "over the top LGBT character" in relation to how people do not like these characters in Hollywood movies. Chris is not a written character, they are an f-ing person with their own and natural ideas, actions and live. They did not transition for the Mr.Beast content. And also addressing transphobic comments as "backlash" insinuates that it is justified? HUH??
Also that comment was “from 2 years ago” so it can’t have been relevant to Chris at all. Which means Sunny searched up some bigot complaining about gay people in media so that he could behind it instead of saying it was his opinion which it blankly was.

I commented on that video about how the Chris situation is bringing Mr Beast's transphobic fans to light. And someone instantly replied with how "his son won't have a actual father figure" like Chris' ex wife is going to never remarry.
Its such a flimsy argument because people get divorced all the time. I don’t know the stats but its very common, but people only have an issue with it when there’s queer people involved.. interesting…

I will never get over how the "facts don't care about feelings" people will tell someone to kill themselves. How is that response not illogical and emotional? No marginalized person should /have/ to be perfect and sweet and kind to be heard in the first place. It's been a common expectation for so long now, entirely sickening to think about. You should be able to yell and shout and bang your firsts about the very issue of your own existence and safety. People are people, it's sad that we have to even debate this very fact with anyone. Terry pratchett wrote a positive representation trans character in 1996, who then appeared in later books as well, but people were really dumb about it, and tried to differentiate her from trans women through a technicality, so he wrote one of the most unambiguous pro trans stories ever with new characters in 2003. Something I think gets overlooked is that her transphobia also seems connected to a fear and hatred of men, which usually conservatives hate in self-proclaimed "feminists". I know lots of women who experience tons of sexual assault by men, and they managed to not decide all men are threats and fear them "infiltrating" women's spaces. Not that trans women are men, they're obviously women, but people think they're men and hates them for it, because a lot of terms also hate men. Which is gross. The sheer level of hatred that exists for transgender people is terrifying. There public presence as a trans person leads to them getting doxxed and sent credible death threats. That event is usually so traumatic and there not the same after, I can't even imagine what they have gone through, I am so sorry and my heart breaks that they've had to face . It makes it so terrifying to try and make art because any tiny slight or notability feels like it could bring in hordes of complete strangers who sincerely want you to die.

I love this account so much. Seriously, thank you for always providing a new perspective on every situation. I had agreed with SunnyV2 at first but seeing the unedited cut of Mr Beast's livestream, I can tell truly nothing has changed between the group. Chris just dresses differently, it's really not that deep
Ive been a long time subscriber to Sunny, but this upload put a very bad taste in my mouth and I'll probably get my commentary from other sources from now. Thanks for the excellent video Jimmy, you handled this topic with care and I really appreciate your take on these kind of situations.
when i first saw this video in my reccomended i was worried it would be another transphobic opinion on the situation. thank you so much for being a good person. Chris' decision is their own. As a trans person myself who has only recently publicly transitioned and started presenting as myself, i know what hes going through. (maybe on a much smaller scale though since they're a public figure)
I've always felt that Sunny's videos were incredibly bias, and kinda mean, the only reason I watch it is because of the editing at this point.

Nah, he’s always been like this. There are moments in other videos that made me realize his right leaning standings on these social topics. I don’t remember which ones though.
Before this I seen that one video from him about a tik-toker faking turrets and he had intentionally misgender them multiple times in the video(despite their pronouns listed on their profile AND ALSO ON HIS THUMBNAIL FOR THEM), and despite many people in the comments pointing that out he never revised the video or made a disclaimer. So I’m not surprised his transphobia is out in full force here. that sunny dude was a real red flag even since the algorithm recommended him to me

For anyone how doesn't know I believe Sunny has shown some conservative tendencies in the past. You can already see this happening with many Russian or Arabic channels telling their viewer not to support Mrbeast. Yet people are in denial and say your making it up to justify some hatred towards trans people.

Births, marriages, divorces, deaths, all are viewed solely through the lens of The Channel and The Audience.
He ties a person so intrinsically to The Channel that nothing could possibly be good if it doesn't benefit The Channel. Nothing bad that happens to you is relevant unless it harms The Channel.

I used to watch Sunny because I like internet history. i thought some of his statements could be a little iffy or unnecessarily harsh before... but then he dropped this video. and i just... honestly it really shows how Sunny thinks of other people, especially queer people: tools to further a brand or an image, and tools to be discarded once they're no longer useful

There are many, many people who want to see anyone trans suffer and fail in life. They see it as validation of it being "wrong". When they talk about trans suicides, that's a GOOD thing in their eyes because it vindicates their bigotry. The idea of Chris just transitioning and moving along with life is completely unacceptable to them.

However, the problem I have with Chris being transgender is WHEN he made that decision. He made the choice to do that AFTER he got married, AFTER he had a child. This puts the child and his relationship in a very complex situation. Katie (Chris’s wife) is a conservative Christian, which point towards why Chris and Katie wanted to be separated. In my humble opinion, I believe it is essential for a child to have both a father and a mother in their upbringing, each having different roles in raising a child. Chris becoming transgender just makes the child not have a father figure in his life, and just confuses the hell out of the child on how and why his dad swapped genders all of a sudden.

As a gay dude i had sometimes just weird situations when sexuality came up as a topic. Because when it comes up *of course* everyone thinks of the fact that i am gay.

You genuinely could have ended the video with "Chris is a real person, not a character." That's all that needs to be said. Sunny talking about Chris as a prop makes me feel really just gross. It is one thing to make sure to take everything out of context but to imply that Chris is just a tool for Jimmy rather than a living breathing human being is just wrong. I kinda used to like Sunny's stuff but after this, I won't watch him again. Implying that someone who is on HRT is not a person is something that makes my skin crawl and makes me want to slam my head into the wall.
Getting approved for HRT is a pain--I had to jump through a ton of hoops before I could go on Testosterone--and I am genuinely happy that Chris gets to live their life how they want. We are in a world where people can live how they want and be happy. I mean, people have life changing things happen all the time from something as simple as a pair of glasses all the way to plastic surgery or transitional surgery. If someone's identity upsets you so much that you won't continue to watch their content; then maybe you should do some internal reflection on yourself cause that's just sad. I mean, I have to see cis people all the time and do you see me complaining? No! I don't care! It's not my body or my life; it's none of my concern.
Just let people be happy! With how screwed everything is, it's what people need. Just to be happy.
Also side note: To everyone who was talking about how Chris's kid won't have a dad, so? There are tons of kids that don't have a dad and/or a mom. Personally speaking, if my dad came up to me and went "Hey I'm gonna go on Estrogen." I'd go, "Okay." and that's it. @@gokusan1015That's actually not true. I could go off of my Test. if I chose to. It would take a while for my body to balance out but you can go off of your HRT. In my case because of other existing medical issues i would have to go on Estrogen since i didnt have enough in my body even before I went on Testosterone.
It also is extremely uncommon for people to get transitional surgery and to regret it or want it undone. I won't ever regret my transition. It has helped me feel more comfortable in my own body, something I have felt out of place in since I was a child.
The feeling of being trans. difficult to explain but think about it like this:
Everyone's body is like a box of Legos. Sometimes the box doesn't match the contents, so you have to try and get it replaced because that's what you were supposed to have. Course the company wouldn't do anything so you'd have to get each piece by yourself. It sucks. (I know that it is a rather simplistic and almost childish way to explain it but it tends to help in some regard for people to understand)

i find the wildest part of this to be that it seems like sunny's entire point is that this completely irrelevant, personal decision for chris (that i'm also SURE they toiled with, and probably discussed with jimmy before deciding to be public about it because that is a VERY major step to make regardless of the absolute bullshit sunny spouts or not. chris most definitely weighed all the pros and cons before going through with it, like???????) is that it's going to hurt jimmy's potential audience outreach. and yet... he also acknowledges that having a person in the mrbeast videos who is openly gnc is going to mean a LOT to fellow lgbt+/gnc kids because they'll have someone to look up to. thus, also, expanding his audience significantly to those kids, and just the lgbt+ community in general. which is, you know. a good thing. that directly contradicts his point. but all he can do in response to that is fumble over himself trying to find whatever nonsensical justification he can for being a needless, utter douche.

I really hate the concept that a LGBT+ character needs a reason to be in a piece of media. The only time it should be plot relevant is if it take place in a setting where there is an extremes prejudice towards that person orientation or gender. Like taking place during the 60s where it was still literally illegal to be gay or like you said, the LTOU 2 where there is plot relevance (the characters ran away because they were perceived as subhuman in a hyper religious society)
I always got the impression that SunnyV2 does the most minimal research on any subject so he can turn out content. In one of his videos he referred to the "czechoslovakian language" (not a thing, like, at all) and also referred to the person speaking said fictional language as being from czechoslovakia despite that also not being a thing anymore (and while i forgot the specific, i believe in this particular case the subject was in fact born in Czech Republic)
