Fascinating and you did a great job presenting it. It's far too common with text on videos to not have it up long enough to read easily. Many thanks again for this look behind the scenes.
+GrandTheftAero Looking forward to it, Revenge was probably my least favourite game in the series since it moved so far away from Burnout 3 but it did add some good things like the rivalries in the 360 version and some replays (even though Burnout 1 had them already ;)
Fnordinary Too bad they removed replays from Burnout 3 aswell. However, looking at Revenge's demo, i found out that alot of B3 features were cut. Paradise also has some references to '''Burnout 5'' and alot developer messages. I'm working on Paradise right now. Oh, and there was a big mode cut from Paradise i found in the files....yes...that mode. :)
+GrandTheftAero Paradise had an extended development so I'm sure there were so many revisions and cuts and additions along the way. They pretty much scrapped an entire version of it I think. Here's the first B5 map they showed www.theaveragegamer.com/wp-content/Screenshots/Burnout5/Burnout5.jpg you see it had the Island that came later and more area at the bottom than the final game. www.1up.com/do/previewPage?pager.offset=0&cId=3156451 has an early interview with Official Playstation Mag with some idea of where they were headed with the game. They did incredible support of he game with free DLC and fan interaction/podcasts for the year after release. It was kind of an experiment but sadly it didn't prove good enough. But bravo for Criterion trying it, maybe a few years too early. I remember in the Demo you could jump off the top of a car park and get past the artificial barrier to explore a bit more of the map so there's certainly a lot to find :)
+Fnordinary Criterion obviously had ambitious plans for Paradise, but because of hardware or design issues, it was never as big as Criterion really wanted it to be. Along with the cut DLC, such as a moon map, planes etc. I have tried that glitch before, but it would never work for me lol! I don't think it's any use, as the demo is basically the final game. Paradise was pretty much finished a month before release. So around November/December of 2007. Same thing with Revenge aswell. As i own a review beta of Revenge a month before release. I'm not entirely sure if the gameplay was entirely different in Preview code. Burnout Paradise beta's did get leaked before if i recall correctly, gameplay of a 2006 build was leaked. We might be able to play it for ourselves one day. I know it was for sale at betagames.org, unfortenatly, that site did get shutdown and replaced with some marathon shit, i don't know.
You forgot to mention in the intro/opening of the game, the super type 1 is blue and that color cannot be chosen in the actual game but still, well done on taking your time and effort into making this video
Hey man, found out about your channel today and I must say as a big Burnout fan these are fascinating videos you put up. Any chance of seeing more Burnout in the future? Keep up the good work.
+Bariprime There will definetly be more Burnout in the future. Only i'm doing some NFS and Midnight Club stuff at the moment. But i won't give up on Burnout.
Where can I find the crash/hit sound effects from Burnout 3? I'd like to use them for future reference when I get to start designing sound effects for my future project "Stickshift Overdrive". B3's slam and shunt sound effects for example are perfect and I'd like a sound designer to help create sounds like them!
I know a huge amount of work went into this, thanks so much for posting it! Very in depth and thorough. I wonder how hard it would be to mod the game files so we could play on a private server?
Very interesting and well made video. I'm curious, what programs do you use to view the game files? I've wanted for years to explore the files of the Burnout games.
8:12 sounds like some sort of hard mode for crash mode (maybe the race tour as well) if it wouldn't be hard enough. Some examples i could come up with is less traffic, a goal to achieve gold plus the crash amount, or a higher gold medal crash amount like 1M+ 9:33 - 10:07 Bear with me here, the GP RR and Battle Race could be linked together. While Battle Race sounds like it references eliminator, but you have to be the last one standing (aka take down your enemies until THEY'RE totalled) and the "RR" in GP RR which could stand for Road Rage (as said by one of many commenters in the comment section). The GP RR may have been a champion ship to go along different race tracks and total your enemies. Battling against 5 road ragers until you would be the last one standing. Meaning you have to go through this 3-4 times. 10:09 "Docks Fog" not sure if this is the Beta name for "Tunnel of Shove" "Elevated Train" when i hear this i think of 2 things, 1: get a takedown against the monorail pillars of Golden city. Or 2: A Beta name of "Pillar Driller" "Lane Closed" im thinking more Alpine for this, since at Lanes Lunacy or Highway to Hell crash level(s), behind you is some highway construction going on. I wonder if the goal is to make a Takedown to that construction on the side? "Roadworks Roundabout" a big coincidence that this is the Beta name of "Riviera Roustabout" 🤔 "Slow Traffic, Fast Traffic" this one hurts my brain the most to think of. Im thinking a takedown against a Container (truck)? It would be since those Container trucks carry the most goodies in their containers, its also the only one i can think of that makes sense. "Toll Booth" obviously this is "Paid the Price!" No doubt. 10:24 The 2nd one, compact eliminator must have been replaced by the Muscle class. The 4th one was changed to a 1:03 burning lap with the sports type 3, either that or the 0:55 seconds burning lap with the ECR (Euro Circuit Racer) The 5th one is a bit confusing to look at, but it definitely changed to the super class. As for the 6th one, it changed to the special event with the Sports type 2. 7th one is a short memory loss to remind myself if there's even a normal race in vineyard that isnt the coupe GP 😅. If not, it definitely changed to the GP start of the coupe series. The 9th changed to the Modified coupe race to unlock the Modified coupe and the 10th was with the Dominator Sports on Alpine. 11:57 Theory: they probably planned to add a color scheme or square to choose your own color, or just more color options. Which would make sense as in some of the prototype events on this game show races with the enemies in certain colors that aren't in the base game. No clue why they would cut it and i have no theoretical explanation for it as well 🤷♂️ 12:29 Obviously from the base game it self. 12:32 Im going to sound stupid here, this horn reminds me of one of those horns used in the older gta games on different vehicles 15:29 the Test Track gives me alot of Silver Lake vibes. IMO it would be a great track for race tutorial such as drifting, boosting, taking enemies down, achievements, etc. Its not easy to think about all this compared to the base game. For that reason alone i gave it my best shot to recall any info that would be helpful for you people, and ofc for GrandTheftAreo.
Maybe the Survival Races would've worked like Burnout Paradise Marked Man races but you survive by time in races to reach the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. So this mode was only available in circuit races only.
