For what ever reason they don't stop, even after the crash has ended. You bring the car to a halt, quit the race, you find out it's still playing even on the menu, then turn the console off and swear to never touch the game again after deleting your save file. Regretting what you've done the day after, you go back into the game and are greeted with a relatively normal loading screen, and all of a sudden, instead of Lazy Generation, the haunting Impact Time sounds play over a heavily corrupted and distorted version of the opening sequence. This time you turn the console off again, but afterwards break the disc and play a childhood game you know doesn't have the sounds. But now you can't escape them. They've been burned into your mind. Forever. Call this some sort of dumb creepypasta, but that's what these sounds make me think of.
