- O's Hall of Famer Brian Roberts recaps the Orioles' biggest comeback in club history. Trailing 10-1 against the Red Sox, the Birds plated five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and five more in the eighth to overtake Boston 11-10. Nick Markakis doubled with two outs in the eighth inning to cap the rally, scoring pinch-runner Jeremy Guthrie and Brian Roberts with the tying and go-ahead runs.

2 years later, the Red Sox blow a lead and lose with Papelbon on the mound. The Orioles chased him after that season to the National League.
My brother and I attended the O's Sox game the very next day. The O's had a 5-1 lead in the bottom on the 8th and I was feeling pretty good. They lost 6-5 in the 11th. 🤷🏻♂️
And you never see this game on the greatest comeback clips on youtube. Lets go O's!!!
Remember that marathon extra innings game against Boston when Chris Davis was the winning pitcher?😎
I still remember Boston crying a lot that day
Yea, I remember it. I remember it because it was Chris Davis's LAST highlight as an Oriole!!!
That was my first game at Fenway Park.
Yes that's one of my favorite games of all time, pretty sure I watched the whole thing! Seeing Chris Davis (who I think was 0-7 in the game with multiple strikeouts and multiple grounded into double plays) be the winning pitcher and striking out a couple of Boston's best players was absolutely hilarious
@@nr1osfan he hit 33 home runs that year. Then he hit 53 home runs the year after that, and was fourth in AL MVP voting. And 47 two years after that. I would say most of his career highlights happened after that game.
I was there! My first Oriole game ever @ age 13! I remember my uncle saying we would leave after the 7th inning, I was disappointed because I didn’t care for the score I wanted to stay the whole ball game regardless of the outcome! Then BOOM the O’s came back to win it all after being down 10-1 at the start of the 7th inning!
Hey I hope you see this. I'm pretty sure I was at this game as well. I'm not an Orioles fan. My boss was and he took us. There was a rain delay, no? We talked him into leaving during the rain delay. We felt SO BAD for him the next day. Smh. RIP Chuck (my old boss)
Edit: I see down in the comments this was the game. Damn.... I've still never seen these highlights. Must have been an amazing game to see! And I left it lol
I remember watching this game. There was a rain delay and I still waited for that to be over and I will always remember this game.
I was at this game working the bullpen! Definitely a classic!
Still love you, B.ROB!
My favorite years of the Os. I miss these players
I mentioned above about how good some of the players really were.
Such great talent on that team, too bad some never saw post season or a ring. :(
The fact they did it against the BoSox is the best part of all.
lets go Orioles
A famous game in Balt Os history was in mid June 1964. Birds in first place and Yanks in town. Yanks had the game in hand leading 7 to 2 in the bottom of the 8th with Balt batting. There was 2 out when Jackie Brandt hit what looked like a harmless single at the time. It was still Yanks 7 Os 2 with Brandt on 1st. Nine batters later the score was Balt 9 Yanks 7. Os score 7 runs after 2 outs. Top of the 9th, Stu Miller comes in but surrenders a HR to Mickey Mantle to tighten things up but finishes them off. Final, Balt 9, NY Yankees 8.
Incredible comeback. Boog hit 2 homers that night. Including one in the 8th inning rally. The very best part, I was there. An 11 yr old on summer break. I will always remember and cherish how fortunate I was. I've been bleeding Orioles black and orange ever since. Sixty yrs later.
Let's go O's
O! heck yea.
Two five run innings in the 8th and 9th gave the Orioles a win.
That's my bro
I miss Gary Thorne
The only way it could have been better is if it was against the Yanks
The 22 O's are made with the same stuff
Rich Hill started this game for the orioles lmao
Always hated that Gary Thorne would call it a “3-RBI home run.” It’s 3-RUN home run Gary. Nobody says 3 runs batted in home run 🙄
They had some very good players, Roberts, Huff, Wieters, Markakus and Luke Scott could crush the ball. The pitching was terrible.
Thank God they got rid of those horrible hats and helmets.
Adam Jones, Anderson and others left out of the 30th anniversary. Pathetic.
Not the best comeback. Probably trying to flex on other teams because there bad.
Yeah pay attention. Learn to read dummy.
