It would have been a big let down if we didn't win it all, following the Yankee series.
On the other hand, the Red Sox probably went into the World Series thinking; "Let's not go

    • @TonyTone1
      @TonyTone1 6 лет назад +9

Blood Legion- I feel the same. The ultimate come back by Boston in MLB history to the Yankees and win a World Series championships. What a way to end the Boston curse. It’s mind boggling how Yankees lost being up 3- 0. I think because of the biggest pitching collapse and Yankees taking the RedSox for granted. Having the Yankees club house decorated for a Pennant celebration against the RedSox, was a psychological mistake.

I like polite Yankees fans, so you're okay in my book. As a Res Sox fan I'm the same way towards the Yankees. When they deserve the win, I'll be the first one to tell you. I mean, it's major league baseball. If either team was easy to beat and/or always won the what fun would it be? The rivalry wouldn't even exist if that was the case.
The rivalry between the Yanks and Sox is one of the best/worst in all sports because they are both great teams determined to win.
It's not like the Yankees are the Orioles or Rays. The Yankees will always be the team to beat in the American League. And the Red Sox will always be that team thats determined to do exactly that.

    • @bloodlegion4874

As a Yankees fan, 2004 definitely stings. But after watching the highlights to every game in that series it’s truly amazing how the Sox came back. First 3 games Yankees dominated and everything turned around in the 9th inning of game 4. Kudos to the Red Sox and Red Sox nation. We’ll probably never see a team accomplish what they did that year again

Less than 5 minutes. I feel like these two could easily fill a 30 minute segment on the 2004 ALCS. They really only talked about game 4. I'd love to see Ortiz talk about the end of 2003, ARod talk about being traded to the Sox and agreeing to take a pay cut only to have it vetoed by the MLBPA, eventually being traded to the Yankees and transitioning to 3rd, the fight in July (they briefly talked about the walk-off), and then touch on each game from the ALCS. Schilling struggling in Game 1 with his injury, Game 2 with Pedro and "Who's your Daddy?", Games 3 was a massacre, Obviously they talked about game 4, Game 5 was another nail biter, late comeback by the Sox, Game 6 is the bloody sock game, also ARod knocking the ball out of Arroyo's hand, and then Game 7, which the Sox opened up early... oh! also actual clips from the moments they're talking about.
I don't know, this was a nice segment, but I feel like there's so much these two could talk about together.

As a Red Sox fan, I will admit that the 2003 and 2004 ALCS'S, were the best in the decade of the 2000's. Two superpowers, Boston against New York. I knew, the goal was big beating them in 2004 ALCS. Red Sox focus was beating the Yankees. First was complete, and Red Sox weren't losing to the Cardinals, after winning 4 straight. Papi carried the Red Sox. Schilling, that Game 6, was epic, quieting 55,000 in NY. Red Sox won 4-2. After winning Game 6, Red Sox weren't losing Game 7, as Red Sox won 10-3. Dave Roberts steal started it.

To A-rods point about Kevin Millar
...And Kevin was a spark Plug to boot
One of my favorite memories is actually of the 2005 season, When the Red Sox hosted the Yankees for the first time that year at Fenway park, and the Fenway faithful gave Mariano Rivera a sarcastic standing Ovation, And he took it in good natured spirits smiled and laughed, I know how petty I am as a person, and I Honestly don't think I would have behaved in such a manner. He deserves credit for his humility in that moment, the man is a unanimous first ballot hall of famer for his unbelievable achievements on the mound.
We all knew how good Mariano Rivera was
It was just time. Time for our beloved Red Sox to finally break the curse, no wait, smash, and burn the curse, leave it dead, and smoldering, in a heap, for all the baseball loving world to see, and it had to be exorcised in the most fantastical way possible.
It Had to be in the most epic series ever to be played, It had to be while facing elimination for four straight games with no room for quarter, It had to be against the vaunted and much hated Yankees, And they ( Yankees) had to have their best players on the field.
    Mission accomplished
It's 20 years later I'm still thinking, They did it Dad. They did it

As a Mets fan I may be biased, but it kind of feels that the Yankees and Red Sox basically switched roles after 2004. Now the Red Sox are the dominant team in baseball and the Yankees are "cursed".

Yes, but one year in 2009 the Yankees and Arod did change that. He had one of the best postseasons in baseball history. But besides that one year you’re absolutely correct

Reliving this series is way more interesting than any playoff game nowadays. For some reason it seems the teams nowadays lack a spark. Still enjoy watching the playoffs but just seems like most players dont care about winning as a team. The astros is the only team that feels genuine but they dont have a good rival as of yet

When you start talking 2004 series you have to start with 2003. Both were great series. I think that couple of years were the best MLB playoffs I have bee seen. Remember 2003 had that wild Marlins, Cubs series and 2004 NLCS saw the Cards and the Astors go to 7 games. The world series both years were a bit anticlimactic but only because of how intense those championship series were.

Agreed. 2004 makes so much more sense if you hold it against 2003.
I went to college from 97-01 with a bunch of Yankees fans. 03 hurt bad. 04 was amazing.

The Red Sox were down to their last man in the bullpen. Curtis leskancik. He came in to get a bases loaded out in the top of the 11th and retired the side in the 12th. Never threw another pitch again!
