A-Rod is really excellent with his insightful questions here. Arenado is also very good at explaining his thought process, decision making, and body mechanics. This is a fascinating video that shows how how truly difficult playing the hot corner is, and how extraordinary Arenado is at doing it.
PUIG nah Chapman is a better defensive player by a little bit. Go check the tape. They severely underrate Chapman because he is on Oakland and baseball doesnt like Oakland for introducing sabrmetrics and revolutionizing the game. Old time fans will never give Oakland players the love they deserve. Witth that being said Arenado is my very very close second for best defensive third baseman and I think anyone is free to argue between those two because they are in a different class defensively than Machado or especially Bregman
@Hunter Morin is sleepy today. I agree that defensively they are close with the slight edge going to Chapman. Please don’t ignore the home/away splits for Arenado. .347/23 HR’s/62 RBI’s at home vs .248/15 HR’s/48 RBI’s. Nolan is great but definitely a product of playing in Colorado half the year.
Great video. Nolan does a great job of explaining defensive 3rd base but I'm even more impressed by A-Rod asking questions as though he doesn't know the answers...and they're good questions. Bonus points for him referring to Jeter even though he didnt have to.

Saints9Fan i believe that is Nolan’s cousin Josh Fuentes over there at 1st
Actually it’s a local guy Tino Vigil! He’s a good kid!
Jack Stone aww ok! Just assumed based on Nolan being comfortable and Fuentes being the 1st baseman right now ha
Ryno Sports Talk Productions rip I should be there😂😂😂, I’m his cousin but live across the country. Lol
Easy ass job when all the balls are dead on chest high lol.
One of the most informative, explanatory and honest videos I've seen regarding the craft that is professional sports. Alex's humility and simplicity are accented more by Arenado's graceful explanations of his movements and techniques. I honestly enjoyed this
There's something pure about baseball.
When I get into a slump in fielding (make an error) I always come back to this video to regain this amazing information provided.
Arod probably my fav. analyst at the moment.
jay rosales Big Papi!
I loved watching and playing baseball as a child. It is SO MUCH more enjoyable as an adult because your understanding is so different. These how to videos weren’t around when I was a kid, it’s so cool to see these now that I’m grown and no longer play.
2:54 What makes you so good?
Me looking at background: Tacos
Juan TLMFAO!! I saw that too.
I quoted the billboard in comments. Lol
Edit: Just to see if anyone else noticed the electronic billboard ads on.
Keep this series going with all infielders. Great getting to know the players IQ ontop of personality. Nolans a really chill dude bruh
That's why nolan is my favorite player
Nolan Arenado: my favorite third baseman in all MLB and probably my favorite player overall.
Edit: I can’t stop watching this video. Amazing chemistry; awesome questions and great answers.
ARod is really a student of the game.
i love how A.Rod has turned into that old man wearing a sweat suit and all :)
jg03311 except he’s a goat with 3,000+ hits and some gold gloves
That’s the old man we all want to be
Nolan arenado is one of thee best 3rd baseman in baseball. Hes got great hand eye coordination and is always a step ahead of the game. Hes really good in batting as well as fielding. Keep up the great work nolaN arenado!!
He makes that throw from the knees look so easy. Takes a lot of strength
Never was a big fan of A-Rod but Nolan is the man!
That's why Arenado deserves six-in-a row of Gold Glove Awards
Ever since he retired I've grown to really like A-Rod. His admission and apology to steroids to being an analyst that knows cares about the game and explains the game really hits home. I have forgiven him and love what he has brought to the table. A-Rod is such a likeable dude now. As far as Nolan, I love him and wish him all the best in life. Such a gamer and a pleasure to watch. He's a great on his way to becoming an all time great and I hope he does since he is such a down to earth player
Arod takin grounders wit giussepes on is the next level lmao
Goes to show how much A-Rod is Respected by future HOF's Like Nolan. A-Rod is a true student of the game! Kudos for Nolan's ability to physically and mentally breakdown the questions that were asked. This video should be shared to every HS player out there.
what A-Rod says:"Our viewers at home are confused walk us through what you mean."
What A-Rod means: "I have no idea how you do this and I'm feeling a comeback, so show me all your tricks."
This was really cool. A-Rod puts his ego aside to interview and compliment Arenado and asks questions only gold glove hall of famer would ask. Arenado did a great job in the interview too. Excellent stuff, Great job guys!
Let’s get a Machado and Tatis Jr AROD video yeah?
That would be badass!
Lol I’m a big golfer and when he’s talking about core and Coiling reminds me of using the ground and my right leg to gain power . Very good insight and reliable to a lot of sports
A rod still have Smooth handling. He still got the class.
Such a great ballplayer, Nolan is. A treat for myself as a third basemen to learn from.
I want to see Arod's reaction when players tells Arod, "I've watch you play since I was a kid"
Alex Rodriguez is actually so good at these kind of interviews! He’s a solid guy and actually a really good interviewer and commenter.
12:36
Arenado: Lets see if I can do it
A-Rod: Alright lets see it.
Arenado: *perfect throw*
A-Rod: HUH?! How we doin?!
Arenado: *2nd perfect throw*
A-Rod: ...HUH?!
Arenado: *another perfect throw*
A-Rod: Hey uh, I got an idea..
Lol great video over all def some funny moments to remember in there.
Also great example of giving credit where credit is due here. Thanks.
A-Rod is really excellent with his insightful questions here. Arenado is also very good at explaining his thought process, decision making, and body mechanics. This is a fascinating video that shows how how truly difficult playing the hot corner is, and how extraordinary Arenado is at doing it.
Arod is amazing at this! Wow
Thank you ESPN for putting this out uncut.... such a great video.
Nolan > Machado, Chapman, bregman...
Chapman just got crowned best defender in baseball so Arenado can’t be a better defender...
Hunter Morin sorry, I didn’t realize they make platinum gloves for both leagues, still, Chapman led the majors in DRS and defensive WAR
Bergman? He isn’t even top 50
Great video. Nolan does a great job of explaining defensive 3rd base but I'm even more impressed by A-Rod asking questions as though he doesn't know the answers...and they're good questions. Bonus points for him referring to Jeter even though he didnt have to.
Would love to see videos like this for every position
Absolutely post the links please if you find them
never thought i’d like a-rod but he’s gotta be the on of the best baseball announcers around rn. love watching sunday night baseball just to hear the insights a-rod gives cuz he’s not like deion sanders or michael irvin just talking about their glory days instead of the game today. well done a-roid
I like A-Rod. He’s a true baseball fan.
everything about this video is great, from the questions to the answers to the examples. I really like how they brought the camera over just so we could see just how far away it is. Nolan does these awesome plays with such ease you dont realize what all goes into just one throw.........Great job all the way around.
You could tell he was nervous when he fumbled the second ball haha
That’s what makes these neat. Raw footage and an inside look to how these guys warm up and stay fresh.
Really like these video demonstrations. It gets me more interested to watch the game and appreciate it more. I also like ARod's assertiveness and aletness to know that the TV audience wants to see what is happening during the demo part of the interview. Keep it up!
