- On May 17, 1996, the Orioles hosted the Mariners in a slugfest that saw the Orioles win on a walk-off grand slam. Orioles catcher Chris Hoiles was 0-5 on the night before hitting a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth on a full count with 2 outs for some Orioles Magic.

96-97 rosters were filthy. We haven’t had a roster that nice until 2014.
94' - 97' O's where some good years for sure
Some names I haven't heard in a really long time. Bobby Bonilla? Robbie Alomar Jr? Cal Ripken?

Damn, Hoiles put the wood to that pitch! Don't get much better than a walk off Grand Slam with 2 outs, a full count, at the bottom of the 9th. Great season, great memories!
Loved Hoiles as a kid and remember watching this happen. Was nice to relive this moment
Hoiles is such an underrated Oriole. Had some good years for the team. I think Bobby Bonilla is STILL getting paid by the Mets lol

Also still getting paid by the O's... a little. There's a separate little 500k side payment he gets until 2023 that the O's split with Mets, so until then the O's pay him 250k a year.

These were great times. Fun Orioles teams to watch. Really some of my best baseball memories. Cal, Brady, Raffy, Hoiles, Bobby Bo, Eddie was back as well. We had Moose and Erickson on the mound. Meyers closing em out. John Miller in the booth. Always loved the way he said OriOles when he got excited! Wonderful memories
I remember listening to this with my grandma in her kitchen, what a hit. Hope the O’s can win again soon

Still one of my favorite O's moments of all time. I was at 2131, and I put this moment right up there with that night.
I remember watching this game like it was yesterday. What a moment!
Oh man. Now that they have moved the LF wall back... Without the original dimensions this wall-scraping hr of an incredible moment would have never happened.
Most of what I remember about the 96 O's is home runs. So. Many. Home. Runs. Granted the roid era was in full swing, but regardless, that team could swing it.
I still have that game on a vhs tape. I remember my dad and I going absolutely nuts when Chris hit the grand slam. Our celebration was short-lived because I immediately ran into my room in a desperate search for a tape so I could record the replay. I missed the top of the first, but didn't miss any of the 27 runs scored that night. One of these days, I'm going to find an old vcr so I can transfer it digitally and if the Orioles don't have an issue with it for copyright purposes, I'm I'll upload it on here.

Being just a few years older than Chris, I ve always been a fan. I was pissed when he got hit by a pitch breaking his wrist
One of the best teams that didn't win the World Series..had the pedigree, everything seemed to be pieced together, the pitching was great, just couldn't finish

Great game but a disappointed season for me. With the guys we had then, no way the birds should have lost the ALCS to the Skankies getting swept at home all season by them. Not to mention that f up interference by that f kid in Skanky stadium.
It was that moment right there that made me hate the yankees. Tarasco clearly had that catch, and it changed the momentum of the series.
