If you can pray to Mary can you pray to CS Lewis? One of your GREAT Catholic books, says Child Jesus pushed another boy off a ledge/roof and killed him and then raised the boy from the dead....So Jesus committed a SIN. Praying for the Dead...Then you don't need Christ to have died FOR our SIN.
@ajaxslamgoody9736 that story comes from a Gnostic gospel that was never considered or accepted as θεόπνευστος, EVER. You should learn some things before you say things, because when we say things but have no idea what we're talking about, we look pretty stupid. And here on the internet, everyone is looking at you. The Gnostic gospel of Thomas claims to be written by Thomas hundreds of years after Thomas died, so use a brain cell. Also, in John chapter 10 Jesus is celebrating the feast of the dedication. Would God in flesh ever celebrate a holiday he did not either condone or ordain? Having said that, pick up your Bible and find me the origins of the Dedication (Hanukkah). Get back with me on that. I'll hold my breath. You can ask anyone in the Church (capital C) to pray for you. CS Lewis isn't canonized so I don't know for a fact that he's in Heaven right now, so no it'd be forbidden to ask him to pray for me. Rather I'd be praying for him more likely. Why ask anyone on earth to pray for you at all? CAN'T YOU JUST GO TO CHRIST DIRECTLY YOURSELF??? Read scripture you'll find in many, MANY places that it'sa fact that sin hinders our prayers. Who then is better to pray for us than those Church bretheren that have already run the race, won the gold medal, knows what it takes and are rooting for us to succeed? (ref. Revelation 5:8) Don't climb in the ring unless you're ready to box. I'm an ex protestant converts to Catholicism, because I apparently read and studied all the things you didn't.

I’m in the same position bro. I’ve been back to mass the last couple months. I’m still uncomfortable with the idea of Mary’s sinlessness and purgatory is still one that I can’t wrap my head around. Also I don’t fully believe in the real presence in the Eucharist but I’m praying and fasting that the Holy Spirit guide me into all truth. Please pray for me as well🙏
Thank you for your testimony about asking the Holy Spirit to show you the truth. This is exactly what I did 34 years ago when I called on the name of Jesus Christ in my tiny studio apartment in Sioux Falls South Dakota. I bought a bible. But, before I opened it, I said out loud to God, “please God, I am a stupid man, please show me the truth, I know that Satan is more wise and cunning than I could ever understand so please protect me from him when I read your word.” This was an act of humility on my part. Only in hindsight did I see that. The only way that you will ever learn the truth from God is in humility. Be humble and ask God to show you the truth and he will.
Sam has been anointed and gifted with wisdom from the fire of the holy spirit that is why Sam doesn’t just teach our Muslim brothers and sisters. He also teaches us Christians and Catholics. He is a teacher and I would like to say humbly thank God for Sam and his family, thank God for sending Sam and thank God for Sam, very educating tutorials of the scripture because this is what we thirst for we need. Sam may end up in the Vatican teaching young priests about the Scriptures because he’s a gift to us all.
He already has too many videos refuting Islam and Hinduism. Most of the young priests in many seminars are taught woke ideology in confirmation to the new age ideology. Too many of the priests are a part of that. I suppose only a handful priests and lot laity are now understanding the folly of the Vatican ideology currently in force as predicted by our Lady in Fatima 3rd secret, Our Lady of Akita, LaSalette, Garabandal etc.
This is exactly what we orthodox do, Saint Paisios the Athonite revealed to us that the deceased (not dead, because in Christ noone is dead) are waiting for our prayers like a man in prison who waits someone to visit him.
Sam thank you so much for your channel, I watch often. I am a former oneness Pentecostal who converted to Easter Orthodoxy. I have total faith in my new religion however you can see how once can be confused by certain doctrine of the Church. Thank you very much
The purging is experienced by the faithful in Christ who are having nonmortal sins expunged by the mercy of God. The act of forgiveness is still by Christ.
Ya this feels confusing to me. I wish I had more understanding. Sam has a lot of wisdom and knowledge when it comes to interpreting the Bible… but it makes me think, “Right, he’s a converted Catholic now, and that belief is included. So he’s looking at things with that lens now, and if he’s a Catholic he doesn’t have the option to deny the belief of Purgatory either.” I just used to listen to Sam when he was on the other side of this argument, and he was very convincing as he always is… I don’t want to swap just because he did. All this is very stressful to me.
Exactly, purgatory is. It is not biblical and it makes no sense even with the verse gymnastics thrown at you to make it so. The Bible is not that difficult once you read it daily and there is nothing about a place like purgatory.
The problem with purgatory is the way the Catholic religion teaches it to the believers in their church. They don't teach it the way he is teaching it.
For those saying one doctrine or church is better please remember what paul wrote in 1 corinthians 1 :12-13 : " 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas[b]”; still another, “I follow Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?"
Thank you. I needed this. Even Cephas is mentioned. Nothing against the Catholic church or protestant but it seems to me that no church has it completely perfect.
also remember something else he wrote 1 Timothy 3:15 says, "if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth".
Also Judah Maccabee was a Levite, the son of a priest. He knows the law of Moses and the rituals of the levitical priesthood. The fact that he himself recommended the sacrifices for the slain only validates this passage even more.
One of the worst mistakes in world history is putting the gospels in the New testament. They r an awesome bridge between the old covenant & New covenant of blood. I study the scriptures objectively. Sam's just too damn religious. Carnal Christianity does not represent the real Jesus. The galatian letter was written to an apostate Church. Established by Grace by faith I went back to the old law of Moses and tradition given to a disobedient children. If Jesus fulfilled the law why would people go shopping and fulfill a list and keep shopping? Justin Martyr paganized the Christian faith. 2nd century. Why would anyone chant names over the baptized person? Why would we need John's baptism as long as we repent. And why would we repent to follow carnal religious leaders like the Pharisee? Go to God plead the blood of Christ and receive the holy spirit to guide you. Theologians are all over the map and way too full of themselves.😢
@@tailgator113 1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Gal 2:16 KJV Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Yet you sin everyday and the result of it is DEATH and a SACRIFICE has to be made for your sins. Protestant view: Jesus died once and for all the people , so if I sin again I'm trapped because no more sacrifice is made for that sin since Jesus died once 2000 years ago. Catholic view : Jesus died and his death is present body and blood in the sacrament which is found in holy Mass. For no worship is true without blood sacrifice . So Jesus has to present in the sacrament literally to FORGIVE sins which we commit everyday and that sku ds more logical. Jesus didn't come to change the law but to improve it and Jesus came from the jews. And Judaism is dictated by God the father and what ever God has commanded is true and lives forever( sacrifice of animals to forgive sins). But now if Judaism is not considered as the religion where God resides for they(jews) rejected Jesus the ultimate sacrifice to remove animal sacrifice. So what does jesus do he creates a parallel to Judaism and that is carholicism under Cepha/Peter. So Jesus didn't come here to set a religion as that was already set by God the father by introducing Judaism which is now catholicism ,Jesus only came here to remove animal sacrifice and put himself(jesus) in that sacrifice every time. So there is a need for religion as religion gave salvation and thar is Judaism for jesus himself said to the Samaritan woman " salvation comes from the jews" . He didn't say I'm the salvation to the Samaritan woman because religion matters even in the eyes of jesus because it was the will of God the father for people to follow a religion ro reach salvation. So to summarize jesus came to replace the animal for sacrificing our sins and worship. God created Judaism and what ever God has created lives forever and thus Catholicism Will live forever. There is no jesus without a religion. You need religion to know the true Jesus.
Jesus was killed because he followed the law and NOT the traditions. That’s my problem with the Catholic Church is they have more traditions than the Pharisees did.
Jesus was put to death because He claimed to be God, and the Jews accused Him of blasphemy. As to your problem with the Catholic Church, it was the Catholic Church itself that compiled the books of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in the Councils of Carthage and Hippo in the late 4th century. The issue of purgatory is not an issue of “tradition” and can be easily found in scripture
@@BrandonDanilition no it isn’t, all of the scriptures the Catholic apologists point to are misleading, read the whole scripture in context and then there is no purgatory; plus there are scriptures that refute an intermediate place for believers.
Maccabees does not prove purgatory at all! All it shows is that there is a resurrection, and that you can intercede for anyone at anytime. It is no different than Jesus or Stephen saying "Father forgive them, they know not what they do". What they did was cover the sins under the law by the sin offering; it says nothing about whether someone is experiencing purgatory or heaven or hell. So the sin offering is not a prayer to the dead, but to YHVH who lives forever. Today we don't give literal sin offerings, but everything is by the heart as it was when they passed.
The books of Maccabees were excluded from the Protestant canon for several reasons: 1. Not Part of the Hebrew Bible: The Maccabees were not included in the Jewish Scriptures, which form the basis of the Old Testament in Protestant Bibles. 2. Written After the Prophetic Period: These books were composed during the intertestamental period, after the era of recognized prophecy in Israel had ended. 3. No Direct Citations by Jesus or the Apostles: Unlike other Old Testament books, Jesus and the apostles did not explicitly quote or reference the Maccabees in their teachings or writings. 4. Theological Conflicts: Certain theological content, such as prayers for the dead mentioned in 2 Maccabees 12:43-46, is inconsistent with Protestant doctrine. 5. Lack of Recognition as Divinely Inspired: Jewish leaders and early Christians did not recognize the Maccabees as divinely inspired Scripture. These factors contributed to the decision of Protestant reformers to exclude the Maccabees from their canon, adhering instead to the Hebrew Scriptures recognized by Jewish tradition.
Sam is decieving the people his been studying the bible and its impossible that he dont know the truth but his belief is not aligning with the bible He use other books not the bible to mislead the people
Three questions: 1) If ALL my sin was placed on Christ 2000 years ago and my sins have been removed as far as the East is from the West, what remains to be cleaned up? 2) If purgatory is the refining fire that makes us clean I would think this is a pretty important part of the process. Why is this never mentioned by Jesus or the gospel writers and especially Paul - and mentioned in great detail? Absent from the body and present with the Lord does not mention any intermediate cleansing. 3) Finally, the discussion in 1 Cor 3 about the fire proving the quality of each man's work - Today while I am alive the Holy Spirit resides in me because I am a temple of the Holy Spirit. You are telling me the Holy Spirit goes with me to suffer in Purgatory? Is it not my ineffectual WORKS that are burned up?
Exactly ! I can’t believe he has fallen for that lie. No one who truly reads the Bible would come up and say” it’s clear to me now, there is a purgatory “
Thanks so much for your comment, it articulated what I was thinking. The thief on the cross clearly admits his guilt, turns to Jesus and then is promised paradise that day. I find that people who rely so much on church fathers end up in a place where they’re justifying beliefs based on postulated thoughts of the church fathers. Those church fathers could have been wrong!
Exactly. Plenty of very intelligent Holy Spirit filled protestants have lived and studied and preached and gone to be with the Lord these disagreements are there for a reason and somebody is right and somebody is wrong. I asked Jesus and he said to just focus on him. He didn’t mention Mary. He didn’t mention the Saints. He didn’t mention pergatory. I prayed for a church, he led me to a Protestant one not a Catholic. Granted none are perfect. I prayed for a Bible translation to read, he told me clearly to read the 1611 KJV. When I didn’t a year later he rebuked me to my surprise. (Gently but he said hey I told you which one to read why are you reading a different one).
Hebrews 9:13-14 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God This scripture addresses 1 Corinthians 3:13-14; it is Christ who purifies our conscience from dead works through His sacrifice so that we can serve God. If we can serve God with a purified conscience now, what is left after we die? The blood of Christ cleans us, wouldn’t purgatory be unnecessary if we have already received this “purification”?
What happens to the souls that died before they knew Jesus? Yes, Jesus died for them too but they never accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior so pulgatory or their purification would be needed and their works would be put to the fire.
@@FindOrMakeit A person who dies not knowing Jesus Christ yet having the opportunity to, yet rejecting salvation would be under condemnation: John 3:18 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. However if you’re referring to someone who never heard the name “Jesus”, I think that is a bigger discussion: 1. We know God is a righteous judge, so we can assume He will not condemn someone for not believing in Jesus Christ whom they have never heard of. However, they still, like every human being have sin, and are separated from God. 2. God knows scenarios of what would happen even if it never takes place: 1 Samuel 23: 7-13 7 Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, "God has handed him over to me, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars." 8 And Saul called up all his forces for battle, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men. 9 When David learned that Saul was plotting against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod." 10 David said, "O LORD, God of Israel, your servant has heard definitely that Saul plans to come to Keilah and destroy the town on account of me. 11 Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me to him? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O LORD, God of Israel, tell your servant." And the LORD said, "He will." 12 Again David asked, "Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me and my men to Saul?" And the LORD said, "They will." 13 So David and his men, about six hundred in number, left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he did not go there So you see, God is so omniscient and knows the heart and minds of us that he can know what would happen in any situation, even if those situations don’t happen. So the question is, could God know if a person would have encountered the Gospel, would they have repented and received forgiveness from their sins? I think He has the ability and authority to do so, and will apply his judgment perfectly. Here’s my issue with purgatory: if Christ suffered to take away our sins so that he can present us spotless before God, we are rejecting His work, and saying we have to be put through some kind of process after death to purify us. Read Ephesians 5:25-27 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. Does that sound like flames? No. Christ does the work we never could, and He paid the price of our prison sentence to death, so that we can be presented spotless; cleansed. There is no evidence of cleansing after death: Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, So I ask you, with the current Pope making comments about multiple ways to god, do you think that throughout all the time that Catholic doctrine has “evolved” from its origins, could they have accepted doctrines (over a thousand years after Christ was here bodily and the New Testament was written) that are antithetical to the original Christian doctrine and tradition? Why don’t Eastern Orthodox subscribe to the Immaculate Conception and many other Catholic beliefs? They to have direct apostolic succession. Think about it.
@@3dtrip870 I like the way you explain why you don't believe and ask questions unlike others just ask question to condemn but not to clear misunderstanding and learn First, if we need to suffer then what is about Jesus's suffering? Paul says in colossians 1:24 "I rejoice in my suffering for your sake and in my flesh I'm filling up what is lacking in Christ's affliction for the sake of his body that is the church". As a church we are called to suffer for ours and the others sin. And Pope can make any comment but he can't change the basic doctrine of the church that we're carrying for 2000 years. I bet there's more evil popes in the church history but they cannot change any doctrine that we hold. And eastern tradition also believe in immaculate conception but we believe that Mary is sinless from the first moment of conception but some easten orthodox believers believe that God made her sinless after that. The same way, the eastern orthodox church believe that the Holy spirit proceeds from the Father. But we believe that Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. Easten orthodox also apostolic tredition but they don't represent the fullness of that truth. And the purification is not immediately after death. First death then judgment. Some go to hell and some go to heaven. Whoever go to heaven they will be purify before enter.
@@sonicrocks2007 might want to read it again: “bring it to completion on the day of Christ Jesus” What is being brought to “completion” is the pertinent question. Is it salvation? Is it forgiveness of sins? Purification? Are those all inextricably linked together? I believe they are all related, but the atonement for sin was completed through Christ’s sacrifice: it’s a done deal. Are you missing the whole point of salvation if you think that somehow your suffering is adequate for the atonement to present yourself spotless? Why even have Christ die as a perfect sacrifice if God, by his own rules, could just send people to suffer through till they were purified? You are (the Catholic Church) trying to add to the work on the cross: Romans 3:21-26 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction; 23 since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as an expiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins; 26 it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous and that he justifies him who has faith in Jesus. It’s already done friend! If somebody pays your fine to get out of prison, you’re able to get out without torture.

(Ench Faith, Hope, Love 29:110) "But by the prayers of the Holy Church, and by the Salvific Sacrifice and by the alms which are given for their spirits, there is no doubt that the dead are aided that the Lord might deal more mercifully with them than their sins would deserve. For the whole Church observes this practice which was handed down by the Fathers that it prays for those who have died in the communion of the Body and Blood of Christ, when they are commemorated in their own place in the Sacrifice itself; and the Sacrifice is offered also in memory of them, on their behalf. If, the works of mercy are celebrated for the sake of those who are being remembered, who would hesitate to recommend them, on whose behalf prayers to God are not offered in vain? Does the RC teach everyone goes to pergatory and then gets out after being punished for sins even if you believe Jesus Christ atoned for sins when He died on the cross? If everyone still has to go there as they teach, what He did on the cross is negated. They teach you can eventually get out after being punished. This is the lie. Purgatory is hell. You don't get out. Jesus Christ died in your place. He died in your place so you don't have to go there. It is not what the saved have to go through if Jesus Christ died for your sins in your place. Purgatory is hell and if you land there you don't get out. Purgatory is hell.
So it isn't that Purgatory doesn't exist. What they teach about it is deceptive. While it is a place of punishment, the truth is no one gets out after he receives punishment for their sins if they land there. They teach maybe you get to get out or maybe be not, and then maybe after being beat and you get to go to heaven after being beat. The way they teach it, it negates what Jesus Christ did if you believe in Him and his dying and atoning for sin on the cross.

The plenary indulgence, Catholic Theology, can make purgation immediate. The partial indulgence, Catholic Theology, can reduce time. Though the word "indulgence" is loaded with derision from historical misuse or use by misunderstanding, it is a concept that collects both prayers and sacrifices for the dead. Just as a saint to be does not use purgatory as a second chance, so an indulgence must not be seen as human work of salvation (that is only through the blood of the Lamb). This is why the Catholic tradition of obtaining and applying a plenary indulgence requires the one obtaining to have made a confession, receive the Eucharist, and have a genuine rejection of personal sin. In this way, in a state of Grace, they have a type of theosis with the advocate, the paraclete, that in one Spirit they may seek the salvation of souls by the will of the Father, through, with and in the son, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Purgatory fills up what is lacking in our participation of the Cross of Jesus Christ; Not taken up as the punishment of the damned but taken up in love for salvation, in Divine Mercy, of the whole world.
@@senseimatt3097 Sounds complicated. How did the church come up with so many detailed steps to, in essence, be in a state where one could enter into purgatory, then heaven? Where did Jesus or the apostles make it this complicated? Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Could we receive the Holy Spirit if our sins weren’t cleansed? Isn’t repentance a choice to turn towards God and away from sin? Where then is the work involved? This turning is internal. Baptism, then is an outward sign that you now identify with Christ in His death burial and resurrection. I’m assured that I have been washed and that I have been identified with Christ in His resurrection; doesn’t seem that complicated. Could I sin again? Yes, but when I do: John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. So you see, the atonement for our sins is through Christ, not our own actions.
@@3dtrip870 Yes, of course it is. This is covered in the video repeatedly. There can be no purgatory without the cross, because purgatory does not deal with eternal salvation or eternal punishment. Two brothers are told by their mother not to throw the baseball in the backyard but only in the park. The boys disobey her, violating the 4th Commandment, in playing ball, they throw the ball through the neighbor's window. 1) They have broken the Law of Moses - in Dishonoring and being disobedient to their mother - They have sinned against God. 2) They have sinned against the mother by being disobedient. 3) They have sinned against the neighbor by destroying her window. A) Christ dies on the cross in order to forgive the violation of the law of Moses, enabling the boys, with baptism and repentance, to enter eternal life. Without that they would have eternal punishment and temporal punishment wouldn't matter at all in comparison. B) The result of disobedience to the mother also results in an earthly or temporal punishment, maybe the boys are grounded and sent to their room, maybe they are hit with "The Spoon." Either way, damage to the mother's trust and the relationship with the mother must be remedied. Those who love much are forgiven much, and in this way children and parents are often quickly reconciled. The mother does not punish in vengeance, but to loving instill in her children the discipline of obedience. C) Christ's forgiveness, the mother's forgiveness, does not repair the broken window or the offense against the neighbor. The neighbor may choose to forgive the boys and mercifully pay the cost of repairing the window herself. The neighbor may forgive the boys but demand that they repair the damaged window. The neighbor may not forgive at all and turn them over to justice (call the cops). I) The boys who believe in Christ and are repentant, Catholic boys would go to Confession, have no need to fear the loss of their salvation. II) The boys would have to fear the response from the mother and the father - Because even though Christ forgives readily the contrite heart, it is a parent's duty to discipline their children through temporal means - I.e. Getting Grounded. III) The boys would have to fear the response from the neighbor as well, who though the neighbor may not directly discipline the children, the demand for the parent's severity depends on the level of mercy of the neighbor. Not every temporal effect of sin can be directly remedied, but many can. This is why the Lord's prayer says, "Forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive those who trespass against us." For those harms caused by sin that are not remedied before death, purgatory is the gift of making this right. There is an actual human cost. Who would ask Christ to take on even more suffering for our faults? Rather, we ought to do penance here on earth, and if incomplete, thank God that I can complete that penance after death. In this way we are called to "Take up your cross and follow me." Wouldn't we, who know the full value of what Christ did for us (the Job encounter with God), not be gladdened at the prospect of taking it upon ourselves rather than giving it to Christ? It would be both sacrifice and a pleasure. The final piece here is the communion of saints. Not only can humanity increase the suffering of the world through sin (and the debt to be paid by Christ), but we can also through great acts of love reduce the sufferings of the world (and thereby Christ). Read the great Judgment in MT 25 and see that this reduction is not only done for your neighbor but translates to what we have done for Christ. The Church, therefore, can in its penance and charity "Make up what is lacking" in the Cross of Christ. Do not misunderstand lacking to mean that Christ's sacrifice is insufficient for eternal life. It means that the cross dealt with the eternal justice. That means that we the church, through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, make up the weight of temporal punishment as we daily take up our cross as the mystical Body of Christ. This again, is only possible through Christ's own crucifixion and we who are given a share of the Divine Life, not just in the glory to come, but also in sharing in the cost of sin. The Church in her great works of charity and mercy are NOT SAVED BY THOSE WORKS, but those works are the signs that we do more than profess Jesus with our lips (Lord, Lord) and let on by our lifestyle. Those works are our participation in the love of Christ outpoured, they are a share in the sacrifice of Christ, and they are the most gentle fires that purge the temporal punishment of our sins and others while we live. Not only do they contribute to the remission of temporal punishment and earthly suffering, they perfect and mature the human being "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect." This means that when the church in its charity donates labor and supplies to fix broken windows, even if the neighbor is stubborn and demands payment to the last dime, the boys may benefit from the generosity of others. The broken window is set right in justice by an abundance of love. These works of abundance, promoted and distributed through the keys of St. Peter, the seat of Rome, the Pope, are called indulgences. They are never to be purchased or presumed upon, but like the taking of Holy Communion, offered and received in full humble participation as a gift. It is not as complicated as it seems in practice. Boy's disobey, play ball, break window. They admit their error to their mother, she takes away their gloves for a week and makes them go apologize to the neighbor. The neighbor forgives them and says, "I'll take care of it, boys will be boys." The mom still makes the boys cut the neighbor's lawn for the next few months. The boy's receive discipline, the mom reconciles with her sons, the boys appreciate the neighbor's mercy and enjoy serving the neighbor. Not only is justice served but perhaps a greater love and respect between neighbors is born.
I never felt truly saved in the Catholic religion. I had to keep going to confession and praying the rosary. I never heard I can know if I am saved. They don't teach it. They do not teach the born again passages and that I could know if I have eternal life. I was raised in it. No one could answer my question if you can know if you are saved. I was shown the scriptures elsewhere. They don't teach it. It is kept hidden. Imagine knowing the key passages and not teaching them. Why? Whey are they not read?
@@luvpamelanewton I grew up the same way. When I was studying for Confirmation, my dad (who was a secular Jew) started talking to Christians’ at a health food store, which led to a Bible study at my house. Once I started actually reading and learning right from the Bible, the Spirit in me started rejoicing (it is hard to explain, but y’all Christians understand). As I went through my confirmation classes, I was the most knowledgeable out of all of my peers. My teachers were amazed that I knew the scriptures! I don’t remember at that point having any major objections to what I was being taught in either study, since I was just beginning my journey. However, later I found that many of the things I read in the Bible seemed contrary to some of the Catholic teachings and practices. I have read so many of the Catholic defenses for their positions, however I find that while I appreciate their efforts, the arguments for the positions I find contrary are not satisfying nor essential doctrines to the main gospel message. (Which makes me wonder why they are pushed so strenuously?) In Acts 17:11 the Bereans are noted as being “more noble” than the Thessalonians, because they search the Scriptures to see if what Paul was saying was true. We are also told to test the spirits, and we are also warned of false teachers, even before the early church fathers were established. So keep on your journey of reading and studying sister. I’m praying for you!

The rich man also died and was buried. [23] And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
@luvpamelanewton anyone in hades cannot be saved, once they are there thats it, and as Revelation 20 says, "The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death." Everyone in hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. They can't get out with works or prayers
@@Chartail1 Purgatory is not a "second chance", it is the cleansing of those who are saved and on their way to heaven. " Nothing unclean may enter heaven." sound familiar? Evidently you didn't pay any attention to this video.
I like a lot of What Sam says, but I have to agree with you. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Romans 6:7-10
In my opinion, I think Catholics are playing to be God, why I said that? Because they trying to save everyone even the ones that are dead and calling them to be saints, but how can someone call a person a saint if you don’t know what they do on there private life?
@@David77757 You wrote....Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny (Matthew 5:26) Which is Jesus's way of teaching the inadequence of the law to save sinners. The law is a mirror, so that we can see we're defecient. The law is good, we aren't good, we require God's mercy in order to be saved. Matthew 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. You can't pay it all. Couple what Mathew said with what Paul said. Romans 6:10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. Colosians 2:14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. Jesus's final words, So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written,“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart." Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach[fn] to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. I don’t pray to anyone else, I do not worship any items or trinkets, I just speak to God like I would speak to my best friend that’s sitting next to me. When Christ was doing his ministry, there were a lot of gentiles and non-Jewish people that became saved “just through their faith alone”. And Jesus praised these people over and over for acting in faith alone, and trusting in Him. And then they would receive healing from him. That’s why I don’t believe all these extra traditions and works that are claimed to be required for salvation. It is not biblical. What did all these people doing during Christs ministry that weren’t performing all of these acts? All they did was just have faith and believe in God. And the murderer that was on the cross next to Christ, all he did was just put his faith in Christ, and believed that he was the son of God, and in his faith alone, Christ said that after today he would be in Paradise with him. Christs death and resurrection was the atonement and payment for our sins. Period.
@@houseonthehill8485 I am still learning as we all are. But it is so clear to me all over the New Testament and in the gospels that putting our faith in Christ and what he did for us is our salvation. Christ is that Salvation! There are no prophecies in Isaiah or any other book in the Old Testament that said that Messiah would be partial atonement for our sins, but that further purification would still be needed throughout our mortal lives to enter into Heaven. Wait a minute here. Sam pretends that after a person dies, he's in an undefined state of limbo. Before Christ's resurrection, that was not the case. When a person died, he went to Sheol. But there were two chambers of Sheol, Paradise and Torments. After His crucifixion, Yeshua went to Paradise, as did the faithful thief on the cross next to him. As did Lazarus the beggar. But the rich man went to Torments, and there was no hope for him. Conclusion: Judgment was a formality. A person's eternal dispensation was determined at death, when he went to one of the two chambers of Sheol. The White Throne Judgement is to dispense punishments for the wicked. The Bema Seat of Christ is to dispense rewards for the saved. So, when and where is this purgatory state? Sam dismisses the NT in favor of what Jews thought. The Jews were in serious error. Yeshua called them sons of Satan, but Sam appeals to their good judgement? The Babylonian Talmud, which defines rabbinic Judaism, is riddled with abominations and heresy. Pharisaic/rabbinic Jews are the last people I would appeal to in order to determine what is canon and what is truth. Going back to my first point, none of the other issues even exist unless it can be proven that there is a place and a time for Purgatory to exist. I believe that Paradise is now empty because Yeshua has risen. Now, when a believer dies, he goes straight to Heaven, as Paul said. A nonbeliever still goes to the Torments chamber of Sheol, where he is held until the Great White Throne Judgement. Obviously, I could be wrong. But I find no place for Purgatory in this scenario, which I believes is consistent with the NT.
Sam decieving the people hes been studying the bible but still not know the truth? And use other bools when he debate protestant but when he debate with muslims he only use muslims book
Evidence of a purgatory are in logic when you see the bigger picture and understand. If you view scripture as if each passage exists alone; independent of the rest, then you know nothing.
Can the idea of purgatory be seen in the fiery furnace of Daniel? The ropes (of bondage) burned off of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, but the fire did not hurt them or touch them, because Christ was with them.
@luvpamelanewton when I have heard descriptions of purgatory, in the Catholic Church, I have never heard of a beating, but being purified by the fire of the love of God.
You have just explained why not to place hope in purgatory anymore. Ephesians 4:9-11. I thank God that Jesus was made manifested to the Old Testament believers. He also spoke of what was and is to come.
I think purgatory was a place before Jesus Christ came to atone for sin, because there was no sin offering by Jesus Christ yet. But after He came, the believer who has been cleaned by His blood experiences something different. The chaffe is burned off so we can put on an immortal new body and be in His presence. The Catholic religion did not grasp this. If they did grasp it, why aren't they explaining His atoned blood in relation to purgatory? No one is answering my questions still. I was raised Catholic. Why was I taught believers still get their sins beat out of them as punishment? Why could they not answer if you can know if you are saved? I never learned the born again passages. I lived in fear and was still headed for hell even though I knew about Jesus Christ.
@@luvpamelanewtonI think purgatory has a negative punishing connotation but doesn’t have to. I find the purging of one’s soul from sin to be very biblical when one takes the teachings as a whole rather than cherry picking verses. Also purgatory doesn’t have to be painful suffering, but rather your life revealed to you for one to have a complete understanding. If people would understand purgatory to be an enlightening experience the concept would not be so off putting.
What does this have to do with purgatory? Purgatory is taught by Christ in the Gospel, and by Saint Paul in 1 Corinthians 3. It was always taught by the Church, till some men in the late Middle Ages gave it up
At death, the souls of Old Testament saints awaited Jesus’ atonement in Abraham’s Bosom. When Jesus ascended to Heaven after his death, burial, and resurrection, He took all who were in Abraham’s Bosom with Him (Ephesians 4:8).
I do know this that first Corinthians chapter 3 does not if you read the whole context of the scripture it does not teach purgatory does not teach purgatory you. You will be purified not you, but your dead will be burned. You will get no credit for things that you did in the flesh or not not or not a part of salvation you do not have to go because you’re ignoring scripture. This says that to be dead if you die and you are a believer you die and you go straight to heaven Bible says that in many places, so you are in fact, denying what the scripture says in many other places for what you believe this one scripture teaches and it does not teach that, it does not teach that if you read it in contacts, it does not

Romans 8 ESV 8 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin,he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For (K)those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on (M)the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
One thing further to add about the deuterocanonicals in the 1611. It was unique only to the American Protestant (RV) in 1900 to exclude the Deut. in the newly revised 1611. The Europeans kept it. The protestant scholars had a council between 1880 and 1900 that reviewed and revised the OT the NT and Deuterocanonicals. Then the American scholars rejected it in their copy of the RV for the US.
Jesus on the cross, said, "It is FINISHED." In Greek the word is tetelestoi (spelling?) it literally means "paid in FULL." It is not a payment plan where WE finish it off in purgatory. Sorry, the Bible says, "We glory in nothing but the cross." This is BLASPHEMY.
False. He paid for your ticket to get on board. One still goes through screening to take a seat. Nothing heretical at all. Thank you and very enlightening information. As a fellow believer in Christ, my question is based on this teaching that God will judge us according to our works? I thought Christ came to this world to pay our ransom ( sin). We only saved by grace alone? By Christ alone? To be saved is a gift and you cannot do it by your own works?
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. If God does not reward the faithful by their works. Then Jesus had no business teaching us in parables of how the master rewarded his servants according to their works as well.
Interesting discussion. Why would a believer need prayers after they went to heaven? Is Jesus’ blood not enough to purify them? Just because church fathers practiced it doesn’t make scriptural.
If you confess your faith, and believe in Jesus, why do you have to go to church? You’re already saved by faith, so, why bother with anything else after getting baptized?

Purgatory makes perfect sense and is aligned with perfect justice. Those that still cling to some minor sins, so that they are burned away as scripture alludes to.
Revelation 20:14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. Purgatory is not a place where people wait to go to heaven, but rather a place where they wait upon judgement.
The fire cleansing is about suffering on earth not to be confused with eternal fire. 1 Cor 3: 14 is actually clarifing that the fire purifies the works of man - meaning the works done on earth. People do not do works anymore afterlife. The passage is talking about religion/good deeds without a foundation in Christ. Without being born again nothing of your religion will stand in front of the purifying holy fire of the presence of God. It does not imply another intermediary process/purgatory when afterlife. This is a metaphore for sola fide. You cannot consider fire, gold as symbols but switch then the genre and consider the fire purification as literaly. You want to be honored in heaven do good works while you can or go to heaven naked and ashamed.
If we pray for a dead soul, is there a chance that the (soul) that we pray is going to heaven because of our prayer? Any biblical answer for this please?
Christ the Lord says, "People ought always to pray and not give up." Does He ever say, "There is no hope for the dead so give up hope for sinners who have died"? Of course not. The Gospel He brings is good news, bringing hope, not ripping hope away based on some fallible human judgment of a person as an "unbeliever" or "sinner bound for hell." Don't lose hope. Do what Jesus Christ says to do and keep praying. Amen.
Can a soul be dead? Genesis says we were made in the image and likeness of God, i.e. spirit. The body can die, for sure, I don't think a soul can die. Jesus says, don't fear the one that can kill the body, but fear the one that can kill the body and the soul. Killing the soul refers to damnation, AKA hell. The soul needs to be judged before conviction. Only God (Jesus) convicts. Intercessory prayers are everywhere in the Bible. Here is an example, I pray to your guardian angel that he will enlighten you and cause you to have a blessed day.
I think that Maccabees 2 is the biblical answer to your question. And to answer your question about whether our prays can help them attain heaven, I would say that surely the purpose of praying for them in the first place is so they can get to heaven... Since without heaven - everything else in this existence is quite useless, isn't it?

In this Nicene or Athanasian form of thought God is said to consist of three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, all equally eternal, powerful and glorious.” - Encyclopedia Americana, 1944, v. 6, p. 619, “Christianity.” The Trinity is considered to be "one God in three Persons," yet many sincere believers have found it to be confusing, contrary to normal reason, and unlike anything in their experience. How, they ask, could the Father be God, Jesus be God, and the holy spirit be God, yet there be not three Gods but only one God? This confusion is widespread.

Let's be clear: Just because something is old, traditional, or done by religious people doesn't automatically make it God's will. Saying the Maccabees collecting money for prayers for the dead was a divine command because it was a Jewish practice is like saying every old custom is holy. That's a weak argument. We need to look at the actual teachings of the Bible, not just what people did centuries ago, to understand what God wants.
That was the whole point of half the video, that 2 Maccabees is scripture(Biblical), and is a holy tradition that was passed on from the early Christians
Maccabees is not, and has not been considered Scripture, it has always been included for historical context and for valuable lessons, but not because it was divinely inspired.

@@ZohanFall I don’t believe that everyone who has not heard of Christ goes to hell. The Bible teaches that God is just and no one is getting ripped off. I do not know how God will judge these people for not hearing of Yeshua, but I do believe that if someone has lived their whole life without the opportunity of getting to hear and understanding about the one true God or what His Son did on the cross, I don’t believe God will send him to hell for eternity. It says that everyone who does not believe in Christ will be facing eternal hellfire. When I hear the word belief, I hear that a choice is being made. If the choice is not given in the first place, then I don’t see God throwing away his creation for nothing.
This is interesting… Is there any correlation to why the law says to not tattoo the dead because perhaps they are going through their afterlife purification process??? 🤔🤔🤔
I do not believe purgatory exist , because the time the rich man died he suffered, and lazarus was with Father Abraham. Also , its say in REVELATION 20: 11-15 .. the dead are judged and were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the book of life...
Great show on the Maccabees 2 and exposing Dr. Brown. However Tatian did follow Valentinius a famous Gnostic. Plus he had Encratite views that opposed marriage & eating meat.
I agree that the debate should be open to what the persons faith is based on, so that makes sense. But again it blows my mind that you would accept the apocrypha writing as reliable and inspired.

Hello to you both brothers in Christ. I am a born again catholic, in that I was baptized in the catholic church went to catholic school with that foundation and then born again in this great awakening of the last days. I have high regard for men of God for there vibrant search for the truth in the word of God. Especially in the translations of word specific. I respect the church fathers and every theologian inspired by the Holy Spirit. With all due respect to our former church fathers and there followers, we all live in the here and now. The life that we live and the gift of being made in the image of God, with God like powers such as being able to love hate, create life or even take life is the free choice given to us and is the fire that we live with everyday IMOP. I've never read were angels give birth or create even though it is our Lord God that actually creates. This is truly a tremendous plan of choice and redemption and gift for everlasting life. I have built a foundation here on earth with family members who do not really know the word of God whom I'm responsible for and yet some believe and some do not. I believe each one of us until our last breath of life or thought in our brain can choose to truly believe. I pray for all my loved ones now or deceased that they and I will win the race and turn to the Lord before or at that moment of death. I believe in praying for our deceased friends and family members, in that God is outside time and can choose to have not one of his sheep lost to time even to death. The free choice of good versus evil only from Christ and no other. I find that information and knowledge that would be released in the last days would reveal more clearly the evidence of God which even modern science and physics today cannot deny, is being done now more than ever in history. Could this not in anyway be the case, that our lives are the furnace of the testing fire. The actual purgatory. And if we survive this life with our faith that we will be saved, even though family members and friends who we shared the word with to do not. Or am I to be lost to absence of those fruits that were given to me in that I had influence and interaction with them in this life some to good and some to evil . Only to be punished for my ineffectiveness of my life on there behalf. I know that I am my brothers keeper but you can't make someone believe if they don't want to believe. I've read nothing of the angels going thru fire unless it is in the book of Enoch. I don't profess to be anyone other than a humble believer in the Lord our God in his undeniable and unimaginable triune nature that will soon be revealed with his new name. Holy Spirit I pray to help me better understand I pray In Jesus name. Amen
To be born again is to confess and except Jesus Christ as Lord God and savior. Fully God Fully man. This would be the same as being confirmed in the Catholic Church. I was baptized in the Catholic Church and confirmed. Both of which were ceremonies done earlier in church life without even understanding. I was born again when I was truly able to confirm with my mouth heart and soul. Immediately received the Holy Spirit and new that my faith and belief had changed. Here I am 50 years later and the Lord has never left me. GB
@@beverlynielsen860 Good question. The ceremony of being baptized was done when I was a child, by my family's faith in the catholic church. Where the word of God says (he knew us before we were in our mother's womb) The predestined introduction of our Lord God Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation. The Holy Spirits introduction into Gods triune nature. The only way that I can explain the baptism of the Holy Spirit and then being born again, is the indwelling physical feeling I received when in my mind heart and soul and voice in the presence of one or two that I first acknowledged and understood that Christ was my Lord and Saviour. A feeling never duplicated in anything ever else in my life both in and out of church. A gift from God thru Jesus Christ. All I know is that my faith and his grace have never left me. Did I go thru trials and tribulations and continue too, yes. Have I gone to catholic mass, and have I visited different denominations of Christian faith, yes but I always fall back to the living words of the bible itself with great search and deciphering. Have I fallen short and continue too, yes but my faith never wavers. Has my walk wavered, yes but not my faith. Did the adversary try to keep me away from the truth and still does, yes but the Holy Spirit always brings me to the truth. Am I unworthy of his grace, yes but that is why the Good Lord shed his blood for me and you. One last thing, the only other closest sensation to the initial entering of the Holy Spirit for me is prayerful worship. It helps my soul to worship God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. GB to you and everyone reading this text and searching for the truth of the Lord God of creation and his wonderous nature. The word of God proclaiming that we will worship him with our hearts and our mouths. More of him and less of ourselves. Amen
It needs to be clarified. Catholics teach it is punishment for unconfessed unknowm sin. You get beat and then get out. Even if you believe in Jesus Christ. It sounds like hell. Sam teaches it is the burning off of chaffe so you can enter heaven. These are different descriptions.
I understand the burning off of chaffe to cleanse you. Your physical body cannot enter. All sins have to be atoned for by Jesus Christ so His blood covers you and God sees Jesus blood on you.
Catholics say it is for unconfessed sin. I sin every day even by a bad thought, so no one can enter unless they get beat first by this teaching. Jesus Christ blood won't prevent you from getting beat for any unconfessed unknown sin, then?

I respect Sam but in that point :The book was never included in the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh and is not canonical in Judaism. Later Jewish leaders thought poorly of the rule of the Hasmonean dynasty for several reasons, and a document so openly celebratory of them was problematic. The Book of Maccabees is not included in the Bible because the ecumenical councils (such as The Council of Trent, mid 16th century CE) that established canon considered the book apocryphal, meaning 'separate' or 'hidden' teachings.
There is its just not called purgatory but they believe in sins being expunged they dont have a name for it because there last ecumenical council was in the 8th century.

I bought a bible. But, before I opened it, I said out loud to God, “please God, I am a stupid man, please show me the truth, I know that Satan is more wise and cunning than I could ever understand so please protect me from him when I read your word.”

Sam has a lot of wisdom and knowledge when it comes to interpreting the Bible… but it makes me think, “Right, he’s a converted Catholic now, and that belief is included. So he’s looking at things with that lens now, and if he’s a Catholic he doesn’t have the option to deny the belief of Purgatory either.”

For those saying one doctrine or church is better please remember what paul wrote in 1 corinthians 1 :12-13 :

13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?"
Thank you. I needed this. Even Cephas is mentioned. Nothing against the Catholic church or protestant but it seems to me that no church has it completely perfect.
also remember something else he wrote
1 Timothy 3:15 says, "if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth".
Also Judah Maccabee was a Levite, the son of a priest. He knows the law of Moses and the rituals of the levitical priesthood. The fact that he himself recommended the sacrifices for the slain only validates this passage even more.
Okay. This was before Jesus Christ died for your sins. Now what?

And Jesus followed the traditions of Israel.

God bless Sam!!!
The books of Maccabees were excluded from the Protestant canon for several reasons:

They say the unconfessed sins as chaffe. But they teach you get beat. They don't teach a burning off of chaffe the way Sam is saying it.
No one can know everything
Hebrews 9:13-14
13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God
This scripture addresses 1 Corinthians 3:13-14; it is Christ who purifies our conscience from dead works through His sacrifice so that we can serve God.
@@FindOrMakeit A person who dies not knowing Jesus Christ yet having the opportunity to, yet rejecting salvation would be under condemnation:
John 3:18
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
However if you’re referring to someone who never heard the name “Jesus”, I think that is a bigger discussion:
1. We know God is a righteous judge, so we can assume He will not condemn someone for not believing in Jesus Christ whom they have never heard of. However, they still, like every human being have sin, and are separated from God.
2. God knows scenarios of what would happen even if it never takes place:
1 Samuel 23: 7-13
7
Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, "God has handed him over to me, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars."
8
And Saul called up all his forces for battle, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.
9
When David learned that Saul was plotting against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring the ephod."
10
David said, "O LORD, God of Israel, your servant has heard definitely that Saul plans to come to Keilah and destroy the town on account of me.
11
Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me to him? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O LORD, God of Israel, tell your servant." And the LORD said, "He will."
12
Again David asked, "Will the citizens of Keilah surrender me and my men to Saul?" And the LORD said, "They will."
13
So David and his men, about six hundred in number, left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he did not go there
So you see, God is so omniscient and knows the heart and minds of us that he can know what would happen in any situation, even if those situations don’t happen.
Read Ephesians 5:25-27
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
Does that sound like flames? No. Christ does the work we never could, and He paid the price of our prison sentence to death, so that we can be presented spotless; cleansed. There is no evidence of cleansing after death:
Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
So I ask you, with the current Pope making comments about multiple ways to god, do you think that throughout all the time that Catholic doctrine has “evolved” from its origins, could they have accepted doctrines (over a thousand years after Christ was here bodily and the New Testament was written) that are antithetical to the original Christian doctrine and tradition? Why don’t Eastern Orthodox subscribe to the Immaculate Conception and many other Catholic beliefs? They to have direct apostolic succession. Think about it.
No because purification is continually and until the day of the lord. 1 philipeans 1:6
@@3dtrip870 I like the way you explain why you don't believe and ask questions unlike others just ask question to condemn but not to clear misunderstanding and learn
First, if we need to suffer then what is about Jesus's suffering?
@@sonicrocks2007 might want to read it again: “bring it to completion on the day of Christ Jesus”
What is being brought to “completion” is the pertinent question. You are (the Catholic Church) trying to add to the work on the cross:
Romans 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

"But by the prayers of the Holy Church, and by the Salvific Sacrifice and by the alms which are given for their spirits, there is no doubt that the dead are aided that the Lord might deal more mercifully with them than their sins would deserve.

Acts 2:38
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Yes, but when I do:
John 2:1
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.
Purgatory is for temporal punishment; it is an exercise of God's justice. Allow me to use this example.

For it is written,“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart." Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? When Christ was doing his ministry, there were a lot of gentiles and non-Jewish people that became saved “just through their faith alone”.
And Jesus praised these people over and over for acting in faith alone, and trusting in Him. And then they would receive healing from him.

Can the idea of purgatory be seen in the fiery furnace of Daniel? The ropes (of bondage) burned off of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, but the fire did not hurt them or touch them, because Christ was with them.
If that is the case, Jesus Christ is the covering by what He did. But catholic religion does not teach it in this way to the believers.
They don't teach the cleansing by fire so to can enter heaven at all.

Maccabees is also not included in the Hebrew Bible.
WOW ! HALLELUJAH I wanted understanding in that chapter for 35years. I want to know what 1 Corinthians 15:29 means? Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
Of all the autoencephalus churches--only the Roman church has created the doctrine of purgatory--this is evidential that neither Christ, nor the Apostles ever taught this doctrine.
1. Christ talks about those beat on the masters return.
2. Paul talks about cleansing until day of judgement.
3. Paul talks about cleansing on day of judgement.
4. Revelation depicts post death purification.
5. Jesus tells a Parable of man in sheol changing his mind.
6. Peter talks about how Jesus went to sheol and preached.
7. All the day of the lord passages mention purification and judgement.
8. Day of the lord has 3 outcomes. Those purified who skip it, those who are burnt and destroyed. and purified and saved on it.
9. Day of the lord leads to physical separation of those groups.
10. Day of the lord is associated with fire and pain.
It is really easy to see how Purgatory came from if you combine all day of the lord passages.
@@sonicrocks2007 the accreted doctrine of purgatory is yet another instance of humans wanting something other than judgement . Christ said we will be judged and He gives us life--your suffering for your own sins is of no benefit.

Purgatorial fires talked about by the church fathers were talking about the day of the lord.
Amen
Where did you learn about being born again?
They don't teach it.
GB
How did the Catholic church Baptist you in your church that you're talking about?
Amen
Why do we need PURGATORY???
Is the blood of Jesus lost its power
John1:29
@@luvpamelanewtonPurgatory is not for unconfessed sins and that is not what the catechism of the Catholic church teaches.
The stain of sin must be removed. Good works helps remove the stain of sin so does purgatory.
Such bad cope. If the blood of Jesus is enough, no one should go to hell. But people do go to hell, then is the blood of Jesus lost its power? By no means. But such nonsense is your logic. Purgatory still exists, just as hell exists, the blood of Jesus prevails both
Another verse that I would like to understand is Romans chapter two verses 13-16. Incredible !
Purgatory exist because of Gods love and perfect justice
Please, meditate a little bit on those words from Jesus : ...even if he returned (coming from hell) to warn his brothers, they would not convert. Faith in salvation is a gift of God but many are determined (often a priori) to refuse it. LET ME RETURN to purgatory: If you do not FIRMLY BELIEVE Jesus took our place 100% and that Hi applies ALL HIS MERITS TO US, then how can you know THAT YOU ARE TRULY SAVED?? Why in the world that purgatory ??? It's only another false doctrine (among others) put in place by the Lying - false - infallible - papacy of an apostate so called " Christ church system " !! PAINFUL CHOCKING TRUTH !!!
@@andrelabonte9077you don’t understand purgatory. Purgatory isn’t hell. Everyone in purgatory is going to heaven because of Christ. They just need to be purified because no unclean thing can enter into heaven.

So today is All Souls’ Day and today in my catholic men’s group someone asked, what is plenary indulgence ? Does Sam or Will have an answer for this question because I haven’t been given a good straight forward answer.
The Catholic, Roman or not is not the true faith. Neither is Orthodoxy, the true faith is only found in ones heart through the Word. That faith was found in Abraham's heart, in David's heart, In Moses. None were able to keep the law all have sinned apart from Christ Jesus and therefore every person is saved by grace through that true faith, in the Old credited and the New debited.
There’s no purgatory in the Orthodox Church
There isn't? Explain. Are you Orthodox?
There is its just not called purgatory but they believe in sins being expunged they dont have a name for it because there last ecumenical council was in the 8th century.
