    Bruce I really appreciate it when you mention the root of Bible text you are covering. I'm more in the received text position so I like knowing when you're using the critical text for your analysis. Discovering your channel has been such a blessing! I hadn't been given an accurate depiction of Calvin before discovering your channel. Keep up the good work!

    I’ve enjoyed the series immensely! I was very surprised at how much was interpreted to be in the first century.
    I continue to familiarize myself with the Historicist interpretation. It makes sense that the Apostle John was speaking to his generation of what must shortly come to pass. Thanks again!

    We're using this interim time to review each lesson. It's great how God brings new things to light. We were watching the lesson on Rev 6:1-6. The teaching on our prayers based on Rom 8:26-28 was very encouraging to me. Our church has no pastor presently and as an elder, I'm called on to pray during our service. I've always felt inadequate, but now I realize that I shouldn't worry, but just pray from the heart knowing that the Holt Spirit will intercede and perfect my prayers.

    You mention around 24:00 that Revelation 11:17 doesn't have "to come" ...but for some reason the KJV does have it. i don't think any of the others do. What is going on here? i was expecting, at least, a Greek word to be there to be translated for something else ...it's like the KJV is using a different source?

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  2 года назад

      Yes, the KJV included the phrase 'is to come' but the evidence is overwhelming that the phrase was not in the Greek of John's original writing.

    • @EastGateAdoptionist
      @EastGateAdoptionist 2 года назад

      @@GoreBruce this is weird though? Why are different Bibles using different source text? Don't get be wrong, i'm all for The Kingdom being RIGHT NOW. We have stronger evidence for It than this anyways.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  2 года назад +1

      @@EastGateAdoptionist An adequate answer would require a somewhat involved discussion of 'textual criticism,' an ongoing science that attempts to reconstruct the most probable reading of the Greek New Testament. This discipline is necessary because we do not have the original Greek manuscripts, but hundreds of copies dating to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th centuries. New discoveries sometimes require adjustments from the texts that were available at an earlier time. The KJV was based on the 'Textus Receptus' prepared by Erasmus. It was excellent, but in the last 500 years, a variety of discoveries have required alterations of that text. The text in question here would be one of those.

    I am partially Preterist.
    I now work on how far to carry it.
    Rev 11:18 says it is time for judgment
    >> For the dead
    >> For those who fear God's name
    That seems much more like a finale to history than a destruction of Jerusalem.
    There is a similar dual (wicked/righteous) judgment at the end of ch 14
    There are three "ends" that are much more questionable: ch 16, 19:1-10, 19:20-21
    Back to finale at 20:11-15

    When I was still an atheist but first started wanting to read more of the bible cuz started to understand maybe the ideas I had about Christian ideology weren’t exactly what I had thought they were but I was still learning and frequently got hung up on some of what sounded to be like ‘imaginary stuff’ no different than fiction or something I thought ... still I was drawn to understand His word . So I went to my older senior ‘mentor’ type friend who wasn’t offended by my questioning and judgemental nature towards religion etc and shines so bright with His spirit that I saw past my misconceptions and asked her where I should start in bible ?? Old Testament was kinda confusing but I like to read things in order 😂I sayd but was more interested in New Testament etc and was confused on how it was the same story was told by dufferent ppl in different orders etc she said start with New Testament but whatever you do don’t start with revelation! I didn’t really get it at the time but now I soo do she knew the language would deter me at the time ! Haha 😬I’m glad I waited till now cuz before I had only heard vague pop culture type references to apolocoplyse etc as presented with the ‘in the future’ versions that always sounded so kooky to me! I had never heard any reference to historical aspect and it makes sooo much more sense to someone like me who wants to embrace this yet am very analytical and scientific so I love how you always touch on that like stars falling from sky through our current understanding vs their cosmology etc all that would have confused me a lot so glad I did wait to hear it through your wonderful teaching , Your grounding in history while still expressing the truth behind all of it helps my faith and understanding grow so much ! There are still some aspects I struggle with but am on the right path 🙏Thanks for you and your teachings ! Stay safe during this time!

    Be careful, sir. God's word need no improvement! The AV 1611, is God's pure words. Deuteronomy 32:8-9 goes like this,
    For the LORD's portion his people; Jacob the lot of his inheritance.
    Do you see? It was according to the NUMBER of the children of Israel. Says nothing about "gods". God does not change his word over the course of human history and then decide to hide some scrolls in a den somewhere obscure that we should pay any attention to. What about all the generations that went buy fore the dead sea scrolls were found? They did not have the pure word of God? You really think this is the case? No no.
    Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Psalm 12:6-7
    Ask yourself, sir, How did an idiot like me from Norway find the pure words of God, and not you, a well educated teacher in the word of God? How did that escape you? I pray and hope that you will go back to the holy bible. Your teachings are great and I have learned a lot in this series. Thank you, sir, and God bless you!

      Yes, I grew up on the King James myself, and respect it greatly. The earliest Hebrew texts behind the KJV date to around 900 a.d. Since then manuscripts dating a thousand years earlier, and far more reliable, have been found and incorporated into translations. Hence the improved rendering of Deuteronomy 32.

    • @J-PLeigh8409
      @J-PLeigh8409 3 года назад

      Why is the 1611 the only pure word of God?? What about all the translations before it? Geneva, Bishops, Tyndale, Matthews etc & or even the 1769 KJV. Wouldnt the preserved manuscripts be the word of God? Dont forget the KJ translators used the translations before it & even speak on it in the Preface. KJV Only does not hold up, as if God cant use any means He wants to glorify His truth. Scholars put in an tremendous amount of time & tedious effort translating holy scripture, to get it as close in English from manuscripts recent & past
