I have a 2017 Mazda6. I learnt the hard way after buying the kit from Amazon. The rotors for the 2014-17 are the same. The brake pads for 2017 are different than the 2014-2016 years.
Also if you put the Electronic brake in maintenance mode, it moves completely out. You can then compress the piston the normal way using the normal compression tool. You don't need to do anything like rotating the piston or disassembling the EM motor.

I watched this video to see if I needed to buy a tool to turn/compress the rear caliper piston. I did, so I went and bought one...but (on both sides of my 2015 6 Touring) clockwise compressed the piston, and counter clockwise tried to make it come out. Just a heads up.

I rented the piston retract screw set. That seemed really easy to use. But you have to watch out for twisting the rubber seal loose. I used oil on the edge of the rubber to make it slide.

I just disconnect the hose and let it empty fluid, and push it in manually. Then do a brake flush while at it.

It might be okay. You might be able to buy a replacement boot at your local auto parts store.

You may want to take a look at the brakes pads /shoes to see if they are low. If the pad material is low it may be time to replace them.

2017 Mazdas have an electronic parking brake. That needs to be put into service mode before clamping and you don't need to rotate it to clamp in.

I hear a small metal clicking noise when i hit brakes. The noise is not always. I had both rear discs and pads replaced. The noise is only from one of them-the left side. Any advice please?

I would take it back to the shop that did the work and have them look at it to see if something came loose.

You mentioned that the inside brake pad had no pin but the one you put on the inside with the wear alarm did have a pin for the caliper. Hope it was aligned.

Hello I ripped my rear boot seal on the piston. Whats the procedures to replacing the boot seal?
Do I spin the piston of its thread until it comes out?

Take to someone that knows how to change brakes and not rip a piston boot.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  4 месяца назад

It won't come out if you are spinning it the correct way and it is fully collapsed into the brake caliper.

How many turns should it take, I feel like a million threads

    • @HomeOwnerRepair

Depends on how badly the brake pads are work. It might take several turns to retract the brake caliper piston all the way into the caliper. Hope this helps you out.

They make a tool for those types of calipers, why are you doing it like a caveman. I would slap my mechanic if I saw him put pliers on that piston. Smh
