Holy cow in loving these stories of the blended scotch founders launching their brands. I still think the best was the Buchanans going into fancy restaurants demanding their own scotch to drum up busniness.
In South Africa we get Dewar's 15 at 43% (we have a minimum 43% requirement for scotch, YAY) I think it's really a great purchase because for me I get a lot of similarity to the Aultmore 12 (another Dewar's distillery) and it's sometimes half the price of the Aultmore 12 is. Dewar's 15 is a good representation of scotch and I'd use it to show someone what scotch is. My first tasting of it was blind and I actually confused it for Johnnie Walker Double Black (weird?). Edit: Drinking Glen Moray Peated (43%) while watching x) Edit 2: After tasting Craigellachie 13, 17 and 51...I now see why I confused it with double black, that sulphur note really does feel like a peated whisky to some degree. My gosh I need a bottle of Craigellachie 13.
On the notes of Dewars, I recently picked up a bottle of the Dewars Rum cask. It's a trip at how different it gets from the normal Dewars. It actually adds a bit of a smokey taste to it. I will have to review it for the FB group, since I haven't done one. I decided to do an extra long dry week (like 2 1/2 weeks) cause of being sick and needing a break. Didn't sign the dry week stuff cause I always forget where it's at.
If a mashbill has 82% corn but aged in new charred oak barrels is it considered bourbon or corn whiskey? I am sorry if your cringe while reading this lol
I love Scotch. Well, actually, I love whisk(e)y, full stop. Just finished watching the documentary "Scotch: A Golden Dream". I'm now putting a bit away for a trip to Scotland some day. Clan Lindsay is a Lowland Scottish clan. Besides the clan castles and other historic sites I wanted to try booking a one or more distillery tours. Any recommendations in the region for ones I shouldn't miss?
Aaron Lindsay That documentary was absolutely fantastic. I recommend Neat: The Story of Bourbon if you haven’t seen that yet. It was great for us whiskey lovers
Hey whiskey tribe, I’ve become a huge fan of the channel and you guys have really encouraged me to explore the beautiful endingless world of whiskey! I’m looking to buy my father a gift for Christmas and I’m looking for a recommendation. His favorite two single malt scotches are Bowmore 12 and McAllen 12. What would be a good single malt scotch?
Keith Corkill Based off of the bowmore 12 id suggest maybe a talisker. Based off of macallen I’m inclined to suggest deanston 12 or maybe even deanston virgin oak. And now for something completely different, if he’s the type that would be open to it and you can get your hands on some, the kaiyo peated would be a cool surprise
I think whiskey prices vary quite a bit around the country so hard to put a price rating on it. The person overpaying should just Google for prices in his area on what ever bottle he is considering to get a sampling of the price range. Some major stores even price match if you find a lower price even remotely in your area.
American Smarties == Canadian and British Rockets, Canadian Smarties == Nasty tasting plain M&M's wannabes. Hearts with sayings on them == completely different than all of the above and totally nasty. Source: American that moved to Canada and Science.
Gentlemen, I have a buddy who’s wife just gave birth to a baby girl and I wanted to gift him a bottle of whiskey. He’s not too partial to whiskey but I’m determined to find something that perhaps could start him along the line of, “Hmm... maybe I like whiskey.” I was thinking Makers Mark (or 46), Larceny, or the wheat whiskey Bernhiem. I was aiming at those specific ones because they are soft, sweet and generally less offensive than a lot of American Whiskeys. As a Whiskey enthusiast (generally along the American Whiskey side of the house) I had a wide range of whiskeys to pick from but I figured one of these would work. What do y’all think I should do?
I have to say, it wouldn't be much of a "vacation on a beach" without a single drink ALL WEEK! (I could see a "Staycation where you just "Get sh!t done", but that's not the same.)
Daniel's exclamation of "That's right!" reminds me of a teacher who's gifted yet underachieving student finally stops being a lazy asshole and actually engages in the lesson. Baby steps, Rex. Baby steps.
I think an update on the most bang for your buck whiskys should happen. I think the channel was under 60K back then. I think some changes/ additions would happen now that the channel is four times larger. Plus... you know...lists on RUclips...
How's it going guys, long-time viewer and I had a question. What are your thoughts on using a ultrasonic age device (UAD) to age a whiskey? Taboo or normal?
Dewar's White Label was my introduction to scotch back in the early 70's. I was never a fan of Johnnie Walker Red Label or Cutty Sark. I may have to try the 15 years old. Maybe you can do a comparison of both the Dewar's and Johnnie Walker 15 year olds.
I prefer the 12 year old to this. The 15 has more of an oakey character and is actually a little spiky (harsh) compared to the 12. The 12 is more like the white label but way more refined and a little more malty. The 15 has a totally different flavor profile IMO.
This is my third time subscribing to your Channel. For some reason RUclips hates you. I wonder how many of your subscribers have been removed and they don't even know it
I agree with Rex; the nose is nice and then the flavor lets you down. As is usual when that happens, this whisky is another victim of poor presentation. 40% just doesn't cut it.
How on Earth do you not think this thing is big enough to have you guys hire an assistant to follow up and help you on all the s**t you need to be doing??!? Aren't we still owed a list Irish something or anothers? And like 20 other good ideas you've had on camera?
The Dewar’s 15 is my favourite at the moment. I bought myself a bottle for my 50th birthday. 👍
Holy cow in loving these stories of the blended scotch founders launching their brands. I still think the best was the Buchanans going into fancy restaurants demanding their own scotch to drum up busniness.
Stayed just down the road from the distillery this summer. Of course had a trip and got to sample these. A great little distillery.

WOOHOO!!!! Y'all did my 2nd bottle!!!!
Love the history of Dewars, there is so much history with Scotch it adds to the enjoyment
Dewars was one of my entry’s into whiskey. Still really enjoy it. Cheers! 🥃
Rex: "I hear voices speaking, but my lips aren't the ones moving, so I ain't listening no more."
Dewarsism for the Tribe - Crossing the Rubicon...
Yet to try this. On my list!
Have you done a review in southern comfort or any types of whiskey similar to it.
'Like a sturgeon, swimming for the very first time. Like a sturrrrrrgeon♪'
Great video fellas.

Love Dewars. Very affordable as well.
Saw this yesterday. Def priced right!
What's a background whisky?
Dewars is a good whiskey to try because if you like it, it’s available in every bar you will ever go to.
The underrated whisky brand ever , for me it's better than JW gold. Love it !!!
Isn't Aberfeldy a lower highland rather than Speyside?

1:33 Rex, I think that was Daniel subtly asking you to hug him

A sturgeon is infamous for its caviar. So you could say that he is more valuable than he seems on the outside
What was the ONE bottle Rex bought for himself!?? I must know 😅
Is Vault 2.025 going to happen nearer to Thanksgiving or Christmas or New Year🦃🎅🏼🥳🤩😎🧔🏽?????
3:50 History indeed repeats itself... my Dewars brothers of Whisky YT Channels ;)

As a Canadian, I got so confused when Rex first said Smarties
Yeah, their smarties are our Rockets
Brit hear, only yesterday I learned what American Smarties are. Seems like british love hearts to me, as here Smarties are like M&Ms

What do y’all think I should do?
Moochy Sturgeon sounds like a great pub
Waiting on a review of Angel's Envy Cask Strength...
I have to say, it wouldn't be much of a "vacation on a beach" without a single drink ALL WEEK! (I could see a "Staycation where you just "Get sh!t done", but that's not the same.)
Ah my fix for the day

So the sturgeon is a new whiskey spirit animal right?
Yes. And Highland Park will have a Viking Sturgeon bottling next. Allegedly...
How's it going guys, long-time viewer and I had a question. What are your thoughts on using a ultrasonic age device (UAD) to age a whiskey? Taboo or normal?
Do you guys ever drink whiskey just to drink whiskey?
Heeey, just in time
Isn't Aberfeldy a Highland?
speysides are highland, but not all highlands are speyside
@@XxPANCOTTOxX Exactly and I believe Aberfeldy is in the latter category
Why did i think when Rex said he has bought 2 whiskeys in his life that he actually meant two glasses not bottles
Drink every time Rex is thinking about his whiskey and clearly not listening to Daniel. :-P
Brian Bitner it would put me under the table🤪🥃
Would you pick this up or the 12. Yr old as the sweet spot?
I prefer the 12 year old to this. The 15 has more of an oakey character and is actually a little spiky (harsh) compared to the 12. The 12 is more like the white label but way more refined and a little more malty. The 15 has a totally different flavor profile IMO.
Tina come get some ham!
I am not sure Daniel knows what smarties are still...
If your Canadian those Smarties they are talking about are called Rockets here. Not the chocolate Smarties that we get here.
What’s a good bourbon 🥃 for coffee ☕️?
Mariluz Gomez although not a bourbon, a nice Irish whiskey usually works
This is my third time subscribing to your Channel. For some reason RUclips hates you. I wonder how many of your subscribers have been removed and they don't even know it
Rex, you are missing out on the mooch model. I sent in two bottles from Virginia Distilling Company - lovey stuff you are missing out on. Just saying.
Garret Rain I hope one is the cider finish, I think that is a great whisky.
Rex does not GAF about Daniel's story.
There are dreamers and then there are dewars
I just came here for Canadians and smartie comments....
Don’t want to be picky but Aberfeldy is not a Speyside.
No one has claimed 1st so I will!!!!
3rd
In Ohio, there is White (NAS), 8yr, 12yr, 18yr and 25yr
Whitmeyer's
I agree with Rex; the nose is nice and then the flavor lets you down. As is usual when that happens, this whisky is another victim of poor presentation. 40% just doesn't cut it.
I do not understand why Texans frequently use "whenever" when they mean "when."

Lol
Woah - such hate for smarties! They know nothing.
why are you going to Indianapolis Billllllll
I wonder if the average IQ of the folks who send you sots free booze is above or below 80
