Junkyard 1st two albums smoke, they've also gotten back together in the past 10 years. Junkyard was like Guns N Roses, in that they were the bridge between rock and hair metal. " blooze" is where to start, then " slipping away" to see their softer side.

You've reacted to a lot of hair metal bands, maybe you should react to the band that most inspired the genre to begin with:
    Slade.
They had 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart. Later metal bands covered their songs (like Quiet Riot's "Cum On Feel the Noize").
I suggest their song "Run Runaway"

XYZ were not the only 80's/ early 90's rock band that saw their careers tank in the wake of 90's grunge rock... But w/ Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, etc. dominating MTV and radio by 1992, it was impossible to sell 80's 'hair metal'... The music industry made a rapid about-turn by 1992 - the directors and promoters literally took all the CD's of bands they deemed 'unhip' and put them in a box labeled, "Do not play"... It didn't help that fans who requested songs on radio and MTV did not want to hear or see a band like XYZ because, as they put, "The 80's s++ked"... and that negative sentiment killed the scene to the point where even bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Death Angel, and Exodus were unable to get airplay or promotion.
It was just so unfair that stellar rock artists like Lita Ford, Cinderella, M.S.G, Skid Row, Kix, Ratt, L.A. Guns, Great White, Whitesnake, Winger, Quiet Riot, Warrant, White Lion, Poison, Europe, Dokken ... all saw their careers drop down to zero by the mid-90's.
Even established major artists saw their ambitious careers flounder; bands like Foreigner, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Kiss, Heart, Styx, Dio, Motorhead, Cheap Trick, Triumph, Boston... bands that were huge and played arenas were struggling to sell records or concert tickets in the 90's...
Only a handful of rock bands like Aerosmith, Rush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC saw huge success in the 90's era.
Newer rock bands in the early 90's had initial success... bands like Slaughter, Firehouse, Saigon Kick, Trixter, Jackyl, Bang Tango, Lynch Mob, Badlands, Bulletboys, Nelson, etc... But their weak point was that they were starting to sound generic and perhaps that was why the public reached a saturation point by 1991 that allowed Nirvana to break big that year w/ a sound that was completely new and heavy, because rock fans wanted a change...
As a result, I recall quite a few great rock & metal records released in the 90's that were completely ignored by the public and commercial media... "Psycho city" by Great White (1992)... 'Fear no evil' by Slaughter (1995)... 'Dog eat dog' by Warrant (1992)... "Dancin' on coals" by Bang Tango (1991)... 'Water' by Saigon Kick (1993) ... '3' by Firehouse (1995)... 'Strange highways' by Dio (1993) ... 'Cross purposes' by (post-Ozzy) Black Sabbath ... 'Master of the Rings' by Helloween (1994) ... 'March or die' by Motorhead (1992)... 'The Human Factor' by Metal Church (1991)... 'Low' by Testament (1994)... 'Native tongue' by Poison (1993)... 'Objection overruled' by Accept (1993)... 'Subhuman Race' by Skid Row (1995)... 'Hey man' by Mr. Big (1996)... 'Face the heat' by Scorpions (1993)... 'Prisoners in paradise' by Europe (1991)... 'W.F.O' by Overkill... 'Hellacious acres' by Dangerous Toys (1991) ... 'The Battle Rages on' by Deep Purple (1993) ... 'The seventh sign' by Yngwie J. Malmsteen (1992)... 'Insanity and genius' by Gamma Ray (1993)... etc.
We missed out on some great rock music because the trends were not in their favor, sadly.

XYZ was among the good Hard Rock/Melodic Rock/Glam Rock outsiders of the late 80's/early 90's. Besides them, you can also eventually check out:
    - Vain: "Who's Watching You", "Beat The Bulllet"
    - Cats In Boots: "Shotgun Sally"

    - Babylon A.D.: "Bang Go The Bells", "The Kid Goes Wild", "Hammer Swings Down"
    - Shorgun Messiah: "Don't Care 'Bout Nothin' "
    - Tyketto: "Forever Young"
Also recommended, bands with a heavier, a grittier approach (with a more powerful bluesy tone):
    - Circus Of Power: "Call Of The Wild"
    - Junkyard: "Simple Man", "Hollywood"
    - Rock City Angels: "Deep Inside My Heart"
    - The Hangmen: "Rotten Sunday"

    - Spread Eagle: "Switchblade Serenade", "Scratch Like A Cat"
    - Salty Dog: "Come Along"

    Here's a few
    Ballad- Souvenirs
    Ballad- After the rain
    Rocking- Nice day to die
Rocking- Sun also rises in hell
    Rocking-Take What You Can

XYZ is such a good band but so underrated. The whole first album is killer and was produced by Don Dokken himself. The second album also has some amazing tracks. Some of my favorites are "Take What You Can", "Follow The Night", "Tied Up", "Face Down In The Gutter" and for ballads "Souvenirs", "After The Rain", "What Keeps Me Loving You", "When I Find Love". I can suggest you many other underrated 80s bands if you want.

Everybody gets all excited about the guitar solo. But, to me its the rhythm guitar riff. Just like this song, ol dude lit up as soon as he heard the riff. Yeah, solos are cool. But, the riff is where its at.
This riff is one of my all-time favorites. This song takes me back. Many memories with that song.

If you liked XYZ Inside Out, you can check out Maggie next, or C'mon and love me, by XYZ or their Rock Ballad What Keeps me loving you, or their acoustic blues lick On the Blue side of the night, Nice Day to Die, After the rain, What's on your mind, Souvenirs, Take what you can, Tied up, Follow the night, Lonely without you. Joey Shapiro was the drummer for XYZ band. Tony Marcus was lead guitarist. Patt Fontaine was bassist, and the Singer Amber was named Terry Ilous. The lead singer's last name has always been hard for me to pronounce correctly though, I just know how to spell it sorry guys! :( hope that I helped a little bit with the line-up at least?
