    I have never seen hachiya persimmons, but I have definetely eaten fuyus A LOT softer than that, lol! I guess you just have to be patient and let it do its thing. But it's not unpleasant even when it's hard like that. It's kind like an apple.

    I have the Hachiya in my yard and I can tell you this: those things Are astringent
    I think the early dentists used them as a pain killer.
    Too gooey when ripe - I slice them thin and dry them, they are Great, better than candy
    'gonna do a load tomorrow

      I had never seen anyone eat persimmons like the video. I felt like a troglodyte. xD I just rip the stem, break the persimmon in pieces with my hands and eat, making a mess.

    No, there is a third kind...our native persimmons that grow wild all over the eastern U.S.

      Thanks for sharing! We were unaware of these native wild persimmons. Looks like they need to be fully ripened/soft to eat? Any other hints or tips?
