      Happy to do so myself. Because my audience is mostly on TikTok and I’ve been working in this space for over five years providing value to the series and the teams in a myriad of ways - consulting, content, host of podcasts, official beginner’s guide to F1… this space (i.e. RUclips) and format (long form interviews) is new to me but that doesn't mean I'm new to F1 or to these teams.

    Not gonna lie, this can be one of the best interviews I have seen in a while. Well thought questions = great answers. It is difficult to understand all the data and mechanical stuff and "gut feeling" as a fan... to see Charles and Carlos insights on these topics was amazing. This shows that drivers are not just that, they are also strategists... it takes a lot of effort and experience. Thanks Toni, keep delivering this high-quality content!

  • @KristinKopic
    @KristinKopic Месяц назад +92

    “Gut feeling vs the data” - one of the things I’ve always wondered about! Thanks for digging in, Toni. Your deep dives into the data side of motorsport are so insightful.

  • @Xavvie
    @Xavvie Месяц назад +47

    I loved how difficult it was for Charles to answer the question on which (top 3) data is the most important. I can imagine how some days maybe not even 10% of the data gathered is being checked by him, but then other days, under different conditions he'll be looking at a whole different set. You never think of how much time they're spending behind the screen. F1 drivers must be such geeks :D Thanks for the great interview!

  • @umersiddiqui4836

    This was an outstanding interview, a welcome departure from the trite questions the drivers often get or the fawning over the drivers on social media (which I find especially obnoxious as a Carlos fan). I came into this space thanks to my husband following Fernando Alonso's un-retirement. I enjoyed watching Sebastian and Kimi as teammates for a little while, then it was off to McLaren to meet Carlos and Lando. I enjoyed their banter almost as much as their racing, and I admire Carlos' willingness and ability to step in and help out as well as his skill on track (reminds me a bit of the late, great Satoru Iwata of Nintendo- a great technical mind but also maintaining a kindly nature in a highly competitive space). Every field needs its own Iwata (or maybe multiple Iwatas? You've certainly got the technical interview part in the bag!)

    This was really an excellent interview. Insightful and well-researched and thought out questions.
    Charles talks about being grateful to be in his position. He lives that every day to at I have observed him in the paddock. He’s one of the few drivers who always stops for fans no matter how busy he is or whether he’s had a bad race or a good race. He never forgot where he came from and his answers about gratitude are not made up or fed to him by his PR person. It’s who he is.
    Question and answers about their mental processes and how they use data or terrific and I haven’t heard a lot of them being asked of F1 drivers. It’s usually more biography focused in most interviews rather than getting deep into their mental processes and how they use data.
    Great stuff Toni. Well done.

    This one felt so technical but so much far way from bore. For me it is where we saw C2 (Charles and Carlos) in a more calm and knowledgeable way, without saying that it was more than interesting that you had the chance to ask such as good questions because we are used to see banal questions and empty answers.
    This interview helped to highlight that they are more than drivers and winners, there is so much more behind the steering wheel. They are superhuman resisting more than 300kms every weekend, they are really smart and charismatic... all in the same time!
    Thank you for this. 🌺💖

    Amazing interview - you really covered a new angle and loved to hear their thoughts on data and how it could progress going forward! So nice to get a new perspective of both these talented drivers who are so well spoken, humble and down to earth. Great job and thank you for sharing this with us!

    I agree with majority of the comments this is a very great interview, it feels a conversational because of the context with the back and forth of the interviewee and the interviewer. Excited to see you in delving more in the F1 community much more in the future.

    I haven’t seen this duo this serious for such a long time in a conversation, on cam. I love it HAHAHHAHA plus this is such a good chance to get a peek on how technical F1 can get - and ofc the driver’s personal insights on being in F1 is awesome. I would love to hear from other teams as well.

    i have been watching formula 1 ever since i was a baby basically haha but i didn't have a choice since my dad was obsesseddd. i remember sitting down for lunch and he was running back and forth to check the tv for the tiniest updates about the race. i couldn't really understand it back then, but around 2021 something clicked in my brain and i am just like my dad now :) we have always been a part of the tifosi, therefore seeing this duo seperating that i've always known and supported since being an official fan makes my heart ache. nonetheless i am forever grateful to my dad to introduce me to a world, the world of F1 which now i can't live without and everytime i watch it makes me feel like home

    Toni.. such an amazing interview, the questions are very thoughtful and carefully put together... I am sure we the tifosi/motor-racing fans appreciate that it is not just generic rubbish, fairly sure that both Carlos and Charles would have enjoyed the chat as well..
