Over time not only the amount of points increased but also the number of positions still scoring points as well as the gap between 1st and 2nd changed up and down. For example Michael Schumacher scored 17 podiums out of 17 races in 2002 collecting 144 of maximum 170 points = 84.71%. However if the 2003 point system (awards more points behind the winner) would have been used Schumacher would have collected 156 of maximum 170 points = 91.76% Additionally up to 1990 the driver championship was decided not by the result of all races but the result of a driver best races. Ascari in 1952 won 6 out of 8 races and the best 4 results counted so he scored 36 out of 36 possible = 100% but counting all races he scored 54 out of 72 = 75%. Jim Clark achieved similar in 1963 and 1965 winning 7 and 6 races respectively out of 10 races with the best 6 results counting so both years he scored 54 out of 54 possible. Currently and in the past extra points were awarded for example for fastest lap during the race and since 2021 sprint races were introduced offering even more points. So at the moment Michael Schumacher is the record holder with 84.71% from all main race points. Max Verstappen however is going to break this record as currently after 20 of the 22 races he has scored 94.20% of all main race points (471 / 500). If you add the sprint race and fastest lap results into the total as well he has scored 92.25% of all available points (524 / 568)." - Verstappen has almost 93%, beating Schumacher.
Incredible run down of stats man! Jesus this guy is absolutely insane. I can't believe I'm admitting this but I'm slowly and surely becoming a Verstappen fan even though I support Ferrari ever since I started watching F1. What a legend!
@@Duyf To be fair, Ocon usually does stupid stuff. He made him lose the race for nothing in Brazil and flexed himself as a lapped car for no reason. Also in Brazil this year he loses the car, slams into alonso, shit talks him on the radio after crashing and then denies losing the car in the post race interview when we can see on the camera he had such a long line to go if he didn't slam into the Aston Martin
No drama? He literally was running off of podiums in Jeddah 2021, brake checking drivers, crashing into people his entire career. The only reason he isn't crashing into anyone this season is because he has no competition lol, if he was racing anyone he'd be crashing into them again, he's the exact same person he's always been. He's a spoiled brat, with a terrible father who turned him into a terrible person.
I think since winning that ‘21 title he’s been like that. Completely relaxed, seemingly free of pressure and just matured in general I guess. But this was certainly one of his better interviews, and on a podcast no less!
There have been some good and long interviews years ago which he did with multiple Dutch broadcasters. I think it took some time for Max to open up in english as a "second language" as in dutch he's been very open as long as we remember. I believe often there is a certain language barrier which holds back certain emotions because the brain has to take over some processing power. Something like that
@@vennemans9113not his mother tongue but also of course when people are taking all you say and do and twist it to put you in a negative daylight that doesn’t really make it easy to open up.
Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, GP is one of the best race engineers in the game. He always stays calm and clear on the radio, his relationship with Max is like yin and yang
@@braindump1446 I enjoy watching everything unfold from the distance. It's been a beautiful few years for my friends and I am happy for them. Also thank you 🙏
When Max said "we're both in this together" that summed it up for me. Doesn't matter if it gets tough and sometimes a bit feisty, they're both in it for the same outcome which helps them get over it
What are you talking about lol, Max is the most boring champion we've had in 30 years. He has zero competition, and that's not his fault, but he's selfish and terrible to Checo, and he treats GP with zero respect. GP has to kiss his butt here, but he hates him inside.
Max is just the perfect storm. He is what happens when you max out every stat you need to be a F1 champion. Tonnes of raw talent rammed into shape by a ruthless but effective upbringing by a man that knew exactly what mistakes to avoid, because he himself made them all.
Max's recollection of his first win says a lot about him as a person - it says why he has a winning attitude and the hardwork that goes into winning. He is the real deal.
Both GP and Max don't want to use perfect. Let's just say their combination, commitment and cooperation is as close to optimal as is possible. Epic duo. Thanks for showing us more of GP.
It's because all they see are the more heated clips where his youth kinda comes out and he can be immature, but that's just everyone at that age especially during competition. He's also grown over the years a bit and hopefully continues to do so and not let winning get to his head over being a legendary career driver and not just a winner of points.
Lovely to see and hear more of GP. And so nice to hear how fluent max' English has become and also has matured in such a level headed way. Not arrogant just Dutch. Dikke klasse.
THANK YOU RED BULL for this episode! When Max & GP talk to each other during the races, it's very entertaining. Max Verstappen is the best Formula 1 driver of all time! Red Bull Racing has the best team! All the people who work for this team are heroes!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is such a treat! The podcast we’ve all been waiting for. The best people are the ones who also lift the people up around them as they are winning. This is what makes Max and the whole Red Bull team so formidable and dominant like no other. Go Super Max and the best race engineer on the grid, GP! 💪🏼🙌🏼
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CONTENT ON RUclips EVER. Ofcourse we all glad to see Max in a podcast but also having GP in a podcast is something else. Can't really tell how awesome was that.
I wish more people would see this side of Max and not the villian dts edit that F1 is trying to sell. He's funny, polite and humble and is clearly loved by the team💙
I try to change people's misconceptions of Max. I also thought he was horrible after DTS. Then I watched as many YT videos I could find of Lando and Carlos, and then I saw the one of Lando calling Max to ask advice on a sim race he was doing. Max's advice was hilarious and started changing my mind. Then found videos of him with Daniel and that clinched it for me. He is one of my favorite drivers now. I only own Max and Lando merch.
@@F1Swiftie I remember that one I think. He said something along lines of "Starting from the back sucks, do a donut than take out as many people into turn one". Best part was Lando calling George and asking him for advice because he "Is so used to starting at the back of the grid"
It's a daunting task trying to convey that Max is a TOTALLY different man outside of the car. He's really cool, fun, funny, and seems like a real easy guy to get along with. Like, I could totally be friends with Max no problem!
@@F1SwiftieI was the same. DTS really did a number on me but then someone said that Max and Daniel were like best friend so I searched for videos of them together and the rest is history. Such a nice guy ☺️
Max is a machine and GP and Hannah are exactly what he needs. I hope Red Bull knows they shouldn’t break this team up if they want to continue winning. “If it isn’t broke….”
I'm quite confident they are very much aware of this and I even think they have several contingency plans in place to keep them both in the team and happy where they are! 😊
if they kick out GP or When GP leaves , Max will be gone too , no GP as race engineer no Max as racing driver. i believe Max sayd this a couple of years ago
@@dominicfrank77 Boo-friggidy-hoo!! Ancient history, get over it! Or do you think your buddy Hammie's Championships were all squeaky clean?? Ask Felipe Massa...
Between, Newey, Horner, Lambiase, Schmitz, the mechanics and of course Max, Red Bull definitely brings their A Team! Edit: and of course Marko, for all his issues, he found Seb and Max and I’m grateful!
Marko found and employed Horner himself. Marko, Horner and Dietrich were always the masters of doing anything and everything to bring in amazing people onboard
As a person who loves motorsport, engineering, aerodynamics and ofc RBR team I love to hear GP's insights as I want to become on race engineer maybe even someone's personal engineer! Thanks for making this happen, it has been amazing to hear all the race stuff!
Loved every bit of it! If anything it was way too short, I could have watched and listened forever to GP and Max. Thank you so much Nicola and Red Bull Racing for giving us this interview, brilliant! ❤😘
I wish GP was my Dad. He honestly reminds me so much of my Dad who has been gone for 10 years now. These two are amazing and I love thier constant radio interactions.
MEGA of them to give a little peek into the dynamics of their relationship. Like Max clarified, most people think they are actually fighting while on the radio sometimes, which they are obviously not.😊
This is the type of working relationship that unites the RB team into the juggernaut they have become. Maximum respect to both guys as they are cleanly 'on top' of their game and work well together irrespective of the curve balls each race throws at them.
The podcast every RB fan has been waiting for!! The only disappointment was, that it was too short. Could have listened to this for a few hours. Thank you RB!
I remember hearing Max say that GP's last race would be his last race. Neither has won a race without the other, so in a way, they're each other's lucky charm.
And recently, GP told Dutch media, if Max were to quit or leave Red Bull, he would not want to be paired with any other driver, simply because the current experience/level of success could not be repeated. He said that if that were the case i.e. Max leaving, he would look for a different position within the team.
"Let's just get on with it." Max's hatred for podcasts is hilarious, even more so with his birthday falling on International Podcast Day 😂 GP-Max, the best combo on the grid, hands down!
This is y i love Max he is straightforward no drama...even accepts his mistakes when was young and now he is charged also relaxed...GP respect for his behind the scene consistent contribution...
My favorite interview of the year! Simply lovely to see G.P. up front and hear his clear voice 😊 Also Max seems more relaxed when chatting with G.P. alongside him 🙂
Waaw Waaw Waaw! What an incredible podcast. The best ever. I'm a Max-fan, but I love GP. So cool. Finally an interview from Max together with GP! Thank youuuuuuu!!
Max with in house interviewer=good vibe! May not be best PR guy, but no BS and definite champions mentality. He also tends to understate his success, not a self promoter, never brags and always credits team for his success.
The fact tthat Max has said hes willing to drive in Endurance has literally proved everything ive been saying for years haha. This man will take Fernando's crown of being the best driver ever, people will argue saying that Alonso has only 2 titles but forget the achievements outside of F1 which arent easy in the slightest. The ability they both have to just jump in any car and make it competetive and outdrive the limits of it is just unreal and people are too blind to see and appreciate greatness. Too busy looking at instagram followers and connections in the fashion world and when you compare that with pure racing talent that these 2 have its just levels above any other driver we have ever seen in any series
It’s so refreshing to read someone who actually knows what they’re talking about. Alonso is an absolute beast who’s dominated at every division he’s raced and, even though I’m team Alonso-Perez-Sainz-Norris, Max has an uncanny ability to quickly adapt to to different challenges he faces.
Max is taking Schumacher‘s crown of being the best driver ever. Alonso is great but he was never as good as Schumi/Senna in their prime and never as good as current Max, be serious here.
I don't think Fernando is overlooked anymore as much after this season. It seems everyone is a fan of him and loves it when he does well. He's clearly one of the best drivers ever and honestly, it's weird how he's only got 2 titles. The man should've probably had at least 5. His bad luck has lost him a lot as well, but seeing him drive as well as he does in an Aston Martin right now is quite amazing. I think a lot of people are hoping for Aston Martin to get their shit together next year for the entire year not just the start. Idk if they would have what it takes to beat Red Bull and Verstappen, but I sure as hell hope Alonso can finish in second place and maybe pick up a few race wins... I'd love to see him stay in the sport for a few years as well, man is an absolute legend and a joy to watch.
Some people in the comments are only now finding out that Max is actually a funny, likeable guy, it seems. Clearly indoctrinated victims of the toxic British F1-media. Anyway, that was great. Especially GP, who seldom gives interviews and prefers to stay in the background. But he's such a great, knowledgable guy I'd love to hear more from him.
Fantastic seeing them together in a more relaxed setting.. Nice to finally see GP some more... What a calm and collective and skilled man he is.... Max is lucky having partnered with such quality... And that goes both ways as well ofc.... And I agree with other commenters, GP your voice is amazing... If you ever wonder what to do next, do commentary or something audio/podcast plz :)
Waited a long time for this one..GP and Max together!. Beautiful! Their relationship is magic. And a lot of fun as well! Two champs. And really nice guys.
Oh man, imagine the hype if Max, Seb and Fernando do the Le Mans together with GP being one of the engineers. That would be so damn epic. Please, make it happen!
@@BoswachtBlog it would only be needed to "force" a team to do it, since Max, Seb and Fernando have all said to be down for it, and GP has now said it too. Please, somebody with some power in endurance racing, make this happen!
I think that such a team would unfortunately be illegal under the regulations. The drivers on a team need to have different ratings, and I am sure all three of them would be rated gold.
Max is a legend, I love him. His relationship with GP is both wholesome and hilarious, but he's always thanking his team for their hard work and emphasizing how everything he achieves is also THEIR achievement. What a team ♥
Like as Max says I am also not a big fan of podcasts because of their time length, this was my first ever podcast and I literally wished it was 3 hours or maybe more than that. Thank you so much guys for giving us this ❤❤❤
2 things I like about GP: First he's crystal clear. No miscommunications with him, you know exactly what he tells you or asks of you. Unlike that broken google translate engineer poor Charles has to deal with every race. And unlike the race engineer of "that other multiple world champion" that shall remain nameless he's not a spineless yes man. Max starts whining on the radio, GP tells him to shut up and drive.
That's what i like about GP he pushes back on Max when other engineers would be shitting themselves. I think Max in turn would be mad if he didn't cause it would just cost them if they were not doing this.
Especially the relationship between Lewis and Bonno seems a little weird sometimes when things don't go Lewis' way. I remember Imola 2022 when Lewis was complaining about his car, which was indeed crap, but Bonno didn't say a word. It took Toto begging him to drive the car to make him shut up.
@@suckieduckie my point exactly. I've been watching Red Bull for years now, I can't recall I've ever heard Christian come on the radio before the race was over. Not even during the heated days between Vettel and Webber.
GP is such an excellent Engineer. a world champion of his league his calmness, and his approach is very different to what other engineers life for example Ferrari which are still checking to this very day.
Agree with most of what has already been said, but equally praise goes to this interviewer. What an accomplished young lady she is. Releaxed and professional. Well done.
Thank you for this RBR. You obviously listen to your fans. Now my only wish would be you'd have some of the grunts up on the podium with Max to recieve the constructors trophy. If that's even allowed 😁 Would love to see Callum upthere one day. He's such a character.
When Max sits down with Dutch interviewers for longer interviews usually in informal quarters (which happens far to little) he wears his own casual clothing and those are the most interesting, going back together (and with his dad) way longer than the 'global fame era', for example when they discuss his personal development with the ups and downs, that familiarity and the lack of a language barrier lets Max open up (and show his sharp sense of humour) even better than in chats like these. Those can be found on YT but sadly hardly ever subtitled in English.
@@Chyeahokay No Verstappen doesn't have to wear anything he doesn't want to. Just look at Hamilton he has been wearing HUGE EGO clown outfits for years and years when he was driving the only car on the grid that could win. It is down to personality not contracts what clothes each drivers wears. These are millionaires, they have the freedom to choose what to wear. Some like Verstappen don't 'really care. Some like Hamilton really do care a lot yet they dress like a 15 years old!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast! So candid & insightful. When you have 2 people who are so 'in sync', equally passionate, their win record is no more a surprise. These 2 together are destined for greatness! ❤

11 total hat-tricks (needs 11 more)
Footnote on percentage of possible points in a season:
I found this somewhere on the web from F1 stats fan:
- "The point system has changed multiple times in the last 75 years making this question more tricky to answer. Over time not only the amount of points increased but also the number of positions still scoring points as well as the gap between 1st and 2nd changed up and down.
For example Michael Schumacher scored 17 podiums out of 17 races in 2002 collecting 144 of maximum 170 points = 84.71%. However if the 2003 point system (awards more points behind the winner) would have been used Schumacher would have collected 156 of maximum 170 points = 91.76%
Additionally up to 1990 the driver championship was decided not by the result of all races but the result of a driver best races.
If you add the sprint race and fastest lap results into the total as well he has scored 92.25% of all available points (524 / 568)." -
Verstappen has almost 93%, beating Schumacher.
Uauuuu!!!!! Maravilhosa essa lista! Obrigada....não sabia de tudo, apesar de ser mega fã de Max.

Max is a very funny guy, only his absolute domination of F1 causes people to dislike him
Nah. It's also racist supremacists Brits who cannot stand having their Brit dethroned. They really love to stoke the fires.

Big words but kind of true
@FrancisFjordCupola not all Brits! Many of us love Max. It's only the cult who don't
As a Dutchman with close ties to the UK, I will call this racism argument complete BS.
lol you would not even start that argument if lewis hamilton were white, so the british doesn't then matter now does it?
The nice thing with Max is that there is no drama and he is balanced as a person.
There is only drama when he dissapoints himself, or when Ocon ...
Same applies for GP. No politics, no hypocrisy, no bs, just honest answers…
We need more people speaking their minds. Not just PR machines who spew whatever is trending while hypocritically doing the opposite.
The calmest and most willing to share I've ever seen MV in an interview. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You haven't seen the interview with Max & David Coulthard in that little boat?
I think since winning that ‘21 title he’s been like that. Completely relaxed, seemingly free of pressure and just matured in general I guess. But this was certainly one of his better interviews, and on a podcast no less!
When Max trust you, he will open up. I have seen him being him self a couple of times in 9 years in formula 1.

Just the fact that GP said Max got him used to winning races shows how much respect he has for Max.
When Max said "we're both in this together" that summed it up for me. Doesn't matter if it gets tough and sometimes a bit feisty, they're both in it for the same outcome which helps them get over it
Its so nice to have a champion that is real.
He isn't scripted and is straight forward.
Absolutely what the sport needed.
What are you talking about lol, Max is the most boring champion we've had in 30 years. He has zero competition, and that's not his fault, but he's selfish and terrible to Checo, and he treats GP with zero respect. GP has to kiss his butt here, but he hates him inside.

This is the interview i was craving for. So fun to watch that relationship. How people can hate Max is beyond me.

We love GP! Very nice guy and the right race engineer for Max! Kudos.👍
Man, I love them both so much! Such incredible people and pairing. No wonder they are dominating this sport at the moment.

So great, and I am so happy to be included with my question! Thanks Max and GP
His quote was literally "If GP goes i go" .
"Let's just get on with it." Max's hatred for podcasts is hilarious, even more so with his birthday falling on International Podcast Day 😂 GP-Max, the best combo on the grid, hands down!
This is new for me. I laughed so hard when reading that his birthday is the same day as International Podcast Day. 😂
Wow this is new for me and i love it 😂

Gp and Max you are the best. The best race engineer and the best driver combination. We are so Lucky to watch what you are doing absolutely fenomenal
This was so cool! GP's voice is so relaxing. They compliment each other really well.
Oh he will be driving WITH Alonso some time in the future. I am absolutely positive about that.
@GriotDNB i hope so, the things Max will learn from Fernando will make him even more unstoppable than he already is so im completely here for it
It’s so refreshing to read someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.

"Just keep your head down, Max. We're in this together" comes to mind. Legends!
Max strikes me as the guy who would fire a yes man. He seems like he’d rather you tell him the truth than bs him
Especially the relationship between Lewis and Bonno seems a little weird sometimes when things don't go Lewis' way. I remember Imola 2022 when Lewis was complaining about his car, which was indeed crap, but Bonno didn't say a word. It took Toto begging him to drive the car to make him shut up.
